On the 5th of October, 2013 I was chosen as the wedding photographer for Belinda and Alex’s wedding at the Adelaide Museum’s Armoury Courtyard. I had previously had a lot of fun with these two as they had requested an engagement shoot at Semaphore beach with their two dogs and had a lot of fun. They chose to have their reception at the Adelaide Crowne Plaza which served as a wonderful modern location overlooking the Adelaide CBD, it was really nice.
The day started as usual with my wedding photography services at the groom’s house to take photos of their preparation. I start at the groom’s house a good few hours before the ceremony at the Adelaide museum to best capture the relaxed fun that usually occurs at the groom’s preparation location. Each of the boys had fun tieing their ties and drinking a few beers whilst preparing.
I then headed off to where the girls in the bridal party were getting ready, near Semaphore beach. When I arrived they were just finishing up their makeup and having a good time. I wasted no time in taking photos of the dress and the small things like shoes and jewellery which were already set up nicely in a beautifully decorated living room. It makes my job so much easier when my clients have such fine furniture in their houses, beautiful.
Adelaide Museum Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony itself took place in Adelaide Museum’s Armoury Courtyard. The Adelaide Museum offer this heritage parade ground for weddings of all budgets. They also, as far as I’m aware offer reception services so that your congregation has no need to relocate after your ceremony. The Adelaide museum is a marvelously quaint location for a wedding featuring wonderful colonial architecture from the old police barracks and surrounding armoury. These stone buildings lend themselves brilliantly to wedding photography and I absolutely love being around them. The armoury itself was constructed in the early 19th century for the Adelaide mounted police, and also acted as a dormitory for the mentally ill.
After the ceremony and spending a bit of time taking photos in and around the Adelaide Museum, Belinda and Alex requested we go for a bit of a walk towards the war memorial and Fort Glanville near the Torrens river. I’m very pleased they did as the lighting was perfect in the parklands allowing me to capture some quite beautiful moments between those two.
Adelaide Crowne Plaza Wedding Reception
The reception venue was the Adelaide Crowne Plaza a bit of a walk away from the Adelaide museum, and is a lovely modern venue overlooking the Eastern side of the Adelaide CBD. The reception was kicked off by horderves before the guests being seated in a large open reception hall complete with two large projector screens and dancefloor in the middle.
I really enjoyed photographing Belinda and Alex’s wedding at the Adelaide Museum, the two of them are such fun to be around, full of energy and have such a great laid-back personality. I just wish I had managed to complete this wedding a little earlier as they had opted on having a second photographer at the wedding, hence creating double the photographs to work through after. But I believe these photos that were produced were very much worth the wait. I’d like to say thanks for choosing me as your photographer and I hope the final completed product is to your liking 🙂
