Coriole Wedding

Coriole Vineyards Wedding – Tahnee & Trav

March 31, 2014/in Reviews, Wedding, Wedding preview

On the 8th of February, I was lucky enough to be chosen as the wedding photographer for Tahnee and Trav’s wedding. The couple, as an avid fan of surfing and snowboarding naturally selected to have their wedding on the beach, with a bridal shoot at the old Port Willunga jetty and then their reception at Coriole vineyards in Mclaren Vale. And what a fantastic wedding it was! Both Tahnee and Trav were spectacular specimens of bride and groom, and their families were extremely accomodating and nice to be around. I had a whole heap of fun while shooting their wedding and I very much hope they enjoy the photos I’ve produced!

Preparation photos

I arrived a little bit early at Trav’s place of preparation as usual only to get out of my car to see the whole groom’s entourage arrive after a bit of a pre-wedding surfing session, it was great as I really got to take some shots of them really getting ready from the get go. They wore a simple white shirt and beige pants with things to the wedding and I must say that that sounds pretty bland but I thought it suited them to a ‘T’.

Tahnee’s bridal party was getting ready at the couple’s house not too far away from the beach. The bridal party had some lovely warm coloured dresses and Tahnee’s dress was a simple, lacy affair suitable for a beach wedding such as this. The whole day was simply themed and it turned out to be a very nice day. Very hot though!

Tahnee & Trav’s Southport beach wedding ceremony

The south port beach has a wonderful little nook of rock and sand to the left of a long wooden stairway which is where Tahnee and Trav chose to hold their wedding ceremony. As I said before the weather was very hot. Luckily there was a bit of cloud cover during the entire ceremony so it wasn’t unbearable.

Port Willunga bridal shoot

After the ceremony at Southport, we headed off to the old Port Willunga jetty ruin, which makes a marvellously picturesque  backdrop for wedding photos. The jetty pylons are all that remains of Port Willunga’s early days as a grain port. The sandy beach is also a fantastic family swimming spot, overlooked by cliffs where fishermen once carved out caves to store their boats and nets, and now serve as a little bit of adventure for kids or romantic getaways if you don’t mind their smell… We also stopped off along the way to take a photo with the couple’s dogs and their wedding cars.

Coriole vineyard reception

The Coriole vineyard was established in the “Seaview” sub-region of the McLaren Vale Wine Region in 1967. The Coriole estate produces a variety of wines including  Shiraz, Sangiovese and Chenin Blanc, with Shiraz being the most prominent. The original farmhouses were built in 1860 and are now the center of the garden and cellar door at the winery, where Tahnee and Trav’s wedding reception took place. Coriole is a marvellous little venue, out of the way from the town and surrounded by amazing rolling vineyards and hills. the Coriole courtyard is very cute with a raised terrace to look over a grassy area and open air dining area.
