It’s that time of the year again, when all the best photographers in South Australia gather for the annual South Australian AIPP professional photographer of the year awards. I’m pleased to say that I can come away from this year’s installment again with a multitude of award winning photographs that has garnered me with a finalist position in one of the photographer of the year categories!

In the three categories I entered – Landscape, Science and Wedding – I received 6 silver awards, and 1 Silver with distinction awards. These award winning photographs placed me amongst the finalists in the Science category. I was looking forward to defending my title of 2016 Photographer of the year in the Landscape category, but I was beat out by the incredible David Evans who was a finalist last year also. This was the second year running in which I have been a finalist in the Science category, so hopefully next year I can do one better! 🙂

The images I submitted into the wedding category were all judged to be of high professional standard – which is of course what I aim for in my work and is something I always strive for in my wedding photography. The judging in this year’s wedding category was notoriously difficult to achieve this high standard, so I was quite happy with the result.

Now I can look forward to the national AIPP Photographer of the year awards being held in August, and if all goes well I should recieve my ‘Master Photographer’ title for consistently achieving an award winning standard in my work. I achieved my ‘Associate photographer’ title 2 years ago, so having a ‘Master’ title come up so quickly, I’m very excited and pleased that my work has been deemed worthy by the pre eminent body of professional photographers in Australia!
