It was a stunningly sunny day for Carlee and Chris’ homely and intimate Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens wedding in early October, which made for a beautifully fun day for all involved. I was asked to be their wedding photographer all day, and I’m glad they did as it was a tonne of laid-back fun!
Preparation
I started out the day as I usually do with the groom’s place of preparation. In Chris’ case, he was being prepared at his father’s house, along with the rest of his entourage. A bit of an unlucky injury to one of his groomsmen put a bit of a dampener on the morning, but he was a great sport and was willing to do anything despite his broken foot! Carlee and Chris’ little boy was also on hand to help out with getting ready. Carlee had left some cute little hidden messages around the place for Chris to find which was adorable.
After I had done with the boys, it was time to head over to where Carlee and her bridesmaids were getting prepared. Carlee is an avid photographer herself, so their house was lined with her own personal work which was awesome to chat about! The girls got ready in the front room, and once the bridal combi arrived we took a few photos with that.
Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens Wedding Ceremony
There are a number of locations suitable to hold a Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens Wedding; Chris and Carlee chose to use the gazebo at the upper end of the gardens. The location is a small grassy clearing, surrounded by Australian bush. It’s a nice, intimate setting as the hills surrounding the clearing allows you to believe you’re out in the wilderness if it weren’t for the many tourists out for a stroll on such a magnificent day!
Glamour Photos
Once the ceremony was over, and all the group photos were done, we walked about the Botanic Gardens a bit making use of the wonderful trees and scenery. The walk down the hill to the famous lake however was too much, so we drove down to make use of the lake and wonderful sunlight beaming through the trees down there.
After a bit of time taking photos at the Botanic Gardens, we head out to where the wedding reception was being held, at the Uraidla Show Hall. The Hall also had a wonderful little grassy area where I brought out the drone for a group photo, and also made use of the setting sun a bit for some family photos.
Uraidla Show Hall Wedding Reception
The uraidla show hall is a rustic, self contained reception venue. Carlee and Chris commissioned a caterer to provide a buffet-style dinner complete with roast on a spit and pizzas of all flavours. They also made use of my photobooth which was set up in the corner of the hall, perfect for getting everyone to have a bit of fun making a fool of themselves in front of a camera. The highlight of the night for me was definitely the beautifully choreographed daddy-daughter dance which they must have practiced a lot beforehand!
Thanks so much to Carlee and chris for having me as their wedding photographer on their big day, and I hope you enjoy your photos!
