For the first wedding of the year, I was down at Somerton Beach, just in front of the Somerton Beach life Saving club for Lise and Mark’s simple beach front wedding. It was fun learning that what first brought myself to their attention as a potential wedding photographer was my default name of ‘Sven’ being that it’s a name of Scandinavian origin, and Lise was from Northern Europe herself. They were wed on the beach, with their reception in the life saving club, however they chose to take advantage of my affordable 3 hour package which saw me cover about 30 minutes of Lise’s preparation, and then the time in-between their ceremony and reception.

Lise was being prepared at their nearby house with the help of her friend who also happened to be her make-up artist and dress maker! The entire day was quite simple, as that’s what Lise and Mark wanted, the whole day really reflected their personality perfectly.
Somerton Beach Wedding Ceremony
Despite the warmth of the day, there were not many people using the beach, which was fantastic as Lise and Mark had set up a wedding arch to be used as a wedding focal point just down the end of the Somerton Beach surf club’s boat ramp. There were a few passer bys but on the whole the only thing not perfect about the ceremony was Mark’s go pro falling from the wooden arch which he had placed there to capture a bit of home video.
Glamour photos
Directly after the wedding ceremony, Lise, Mark and I set off along the beach front for a few photos. We also travelled down to Brighton Jetty and the nearby historic Kingston House where we could overlook both Brighton and Somerton beaches, which happened to be one of Lise and Mark’s first date locations.
Finally, as a bit of fun, I noticed form the artwork hanging in Lise and Mark’s house that they had a bit of a quirky side and enjoyed zombies, so I suggested we take a bit of a zombie shot, similar to what I’ve done before with Harry Potter themes and dinosaurs. So we rustled up some zombies from a nearby cemetery and lined them up for a bit of a shot 🙂
