Kat and Ben held their wedding at the famed Sferas Convention center in Modbury, spending the entire day there, and utilising a small park just down the road for their glamour photos. I had been to Sferas quite a few times for wedding receptions, but before now, not for an actual ceremony. I was asked to be their wedding photographer using my flexible hourly rates and before heading to the groom’s place of preparation, just around the corner, I headed to Sferas to set up the SvenStudios photobooth which Kat and Ben took advantage of for their reception.
Preparation
After having set up the photobooth, I then hurried back to the house the groomsmen were getting ready at and was able to get in around 50 minutes of the boys getting ready. The atmosphere was fairly laid back with the boys ironing their shirts and helping each other put on their bowties.
Kat and her bridesmaids were being prepared at one of the Sferas suits they have on site, so it was awfully convenient for them to simply walk down the stairs to the chapel. The girls were having fun getting ready while intermittently tending to the little ones 🙂
Sferas Wedding Ceremony
The Sferas indoor chapel is located at the rear of the establishment, squeezed amongst two of Sferas’ 4 ballrooms wedding couples can choose to hold their wedding reception in. It’s a small area, so with the size of Kat and Ban’;s congregation, I was limited in vantage points in order to take photos, mostly stuck in the aisle. Kat and Ben also had on hand some wedding musicians and their religious ceremony went off without a hitch.
Glamour Photos
We didn’t have a huge amount of time after the family photos in the grassy park next door for glamour photos, so we didn’t venture far. Down the road a bit there is a small park complete with small stream that we walked to to make it look as though Kat and Ben were immersed in Australian foliage which is rather nice.
Sferas Wedding Reception
Wedding receptions at Sferas are always a delight, with helpful staff and great food, the ballroom always has plentiful space too, which is nice for the photobooth and generally walking around to take photos. My favourite part of this ballroom is the dancefloor, stretching from end to end, it makes for a great space for photos, and in Kat and Ben’s case illuminated initials also.
Thanks go out to Kat and Ben for having me as their wedding photographer, and I hope they enjoy their photos! 🙂
