Wedding at the Manor in Basket Range – Maryam & Jason
A Wedding at the Manor in Basket Range never fails to sweep guests into a world that feels equal parts medieval fairytale and romantic hillside escape. Maryam and Jason embraced everything this spectacular Adelaide Hills venue offers, layering it with touches that reflected their shared style, deep connections, and a joyful sense of celebration. Their day shimmered with rich cultural nods, sentimental tributes, heartfelt moments, and a nighttime sprinkle of rain that transformed the stone architecture into a glistening set straight from a fantasy film.
The energy between Maryam and Jason felt warm, calm, and deeply grounded from the moment the day began. Surrounded by their closest people in one of South Australia’s most iconic wedding venues, they moved through their celebration with a gorgeous blend of fun, elegance, and excitement. Shooting at The Manor is always a treat, but this wedding added layers of meaning through their personalised gestures, shared traditions, and the thought poured into every detail. The whole day unfolded with a sense of magic unique to this pair.
Preparation
Preparations began with the boys tucked directly downstairs from where the girls were being preparaed. The atmosphere felt relaxed and cheerful, with music echoing through the space while jackets were pressed, ties adjusted, and banter flowed easily. Jason added a playful twist to his morning, putting on display a Persian beer as a nod to Maryam’s heritage. It set the tone beautifully—celebratory, inclusive, and effortlessly personal. Those kinds of small choices enrich a wedding day so much, especially when they honour family and culture in such a genuine way.
Upstairs, the girls created their own blend of excitement and softness as final touches came together. Maryam prepared in a room overflowing with light and elegant details, and one moment in particular stood out. She’d arranged perfume bottles representing friends who were unable to attend, each chosen with care to symbolise the connection she keeps with them. The gesture filled the room with tenderness and drew a few tears from her bridesmaids. As someone who had photographed one of those bridesmaids’ weddings at The Manor previously, returning to document this circle of friends again felt incredibly special. Familiar faces give the whole process a beautiful continuity, adding another layer of enjoyment to the experience.

The ceremony unfolded in front of the charming stone chapel—always a favourite ceremony spot for couples drawn to the venue’s European-inspired character. Guests filled the courtyard as the gentle hum of excitement grew. Maryam stepped from her convertible with elegance and spark, giving everyone a moment to admire the sweeping veil, the crisp lines of her gown, and the joy written across her face. Jason watched with unmistakable emotion as she arrived, surrounded by the soft rustling of trees and the stonework standing proudly behind them.
Their vows carried warmth that radiated across the courtyard. Every sentence felt deliberate and deeply anchored in their story. The ceremony had a beautiful flow, filled with moments of laughter, heartfelt promises, and a powerful sense of connection. When they sealed everything with a kiss, the crowd erupted into cheers while bubbles floated through the air in a celebratory swirl. A bubble exit always photographs beautifully at The Manor, especially in that soft afternoon light bouncing gently off the walls.
Inspired by another Manor wedding I’d photographed, Maryam decided to host her bouquet toss from the front of her convertible. The moment unfolded with a joyful burst of energy as bridesmaids and guests gathered eagerly below. The bouquet flew through the air to squeals, cheers, and a scramble of hopeful hands—a playful twist that suited Maryam perfectly and created a fun, memorable highlight between ceremony and reception.
Glamour Photos
Glamour photos moved quickly due to rain clouds creeping closer. The sky carried a moody charm that brought a dramatic richness to the images. The Manor always feels cinematic, and with the air turning crisp and the wind adding a gentle lift to Maryam’s veil, everything aligned for striking portraits. We wandered through archways, gardens, and stone corridors, catching a blend of candid affection and classic elegance.
As the first drops began to fall, the couple embraced the weather with an effortless sense of fun. Rain has a wonderful way of adding texture and movement to a wedding gallery, especially in a venue with such atmospheric architecture. Although our session was shorter than usual, every frame felt full of personality and depth. The way Jason looked at Maryam under the softening light easily became one of my favourite parts of the day.
The real magic arrived later in the night when the rain returned. The Castle Keep glistened under the lights, creating a breathtaking backdrop for nighttime portraits. Raindrops shimmered like tiny stars, settling perfectly into the rustic stone and adding an ethereal glow. These photos captured the enchanting edge of the Adelaide Hills—moody skies, glowing windows, and a couple completely wrapped in each other’s presence.
The Manor Wedding Reception
Maryam and Jason transformed the upstairs reception space into something extraordinary. The moment guests stepped inside, their attention was pulled straight to the centrepiece—a beautifully crafted dance floor surrounded by overflowing floral arrangements. Soft neutrals and gentle tones framed the entire layout. Every detail harmonised wonderfully with The Manor’s warm timber and old-world charm. It was clear they’d envisioned a celebration that felt lush, romantic, and inviting, and they absolutely achieved it.
The evening unfolded with heartfelt speeches, flowing wine, and a deep sense of togetherness. Guests soaked up the warmth of the room, laughing through stories that spanned years of friendships and family memories. The atmosphere felt lively yet intimate, the kind of setting where everyone settles into a rhythm of delicious food, great music, and genuine connection. Watching Maryam and Jason dance under the lights, framed by floral textures and the dryice underfoot, created unforgettable frames full of movement and emotion.
As the night came to a close, guests gathered outside for a sparkler exit behind the venue. The rain eased just in time, giving the sparklers room to shine brightly as Maryam and Jason walked through a corridor of glowing celebration. The combination of misty air, warm light, and sheer joy wrapped their finale in perfect cinematic magic. For a Wedding at the Manor in Basket Range, it was a spectacular farewell.
