Welcoming a newborn is a truly magical experience, and capturing those early moments is incredibly special. I recently had the honor of photographing baby Walker during his Flinders Medical Center newborn photography session. His proud mum, Nikita, reached out for a quick shoot to preserve these fleeting first days. Being based in Aberfoyle Park, it was a quick and easy trip to the hospital, and I was thrilled to meet this adorable little one.

Walker’s session was held right in their hospital room, creating an intimate and personal atmosphere. Newborn hospital photoshoots have a unique charm. They capture not only the baby’s first days but also the environment where their first chapter began. Flinders Medical Center provides a soft, natural light near the large windows, perfect for timeless portraits. With Walker peacefully resting in his parents’ arms, we created images that will be treasured forever.

Proposals are always magical, but there’s something truly enchanting about a secluded Belair National Park proposal. Nestled deep within the lush greenery of Adelaide’s oldest national park, Marissa and James’s special moment unfolded on a late Saturday evening. With James meticulously planning every detail, their story became one of intimate romance, a little suspense, and a lot of love.

James had chosen the Long Gully Picnic Ground as the perfect location. Surrounded by the serene beauty of native Australian bushland, this spot offers a dreamy backdrop for any romantic milestone. The expansive grassy oval, bordered by towering eucalyptus trees, provided an open yet private setting for his heartfelt gesture.

The Perfect Location for Love: Long Gully Picnic Ground

Belair National Park offers a plethora of picturesque locations, but the Long Gully Picnic Ground is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the heart of the park, it’s an idyllic space that feels miles away from the bustle of daily life. James had booked this spot specifically to create an intimate atmosphere, free from distractions.

As the golden hour cast a soft glow across the grass, James led Marissa into the center of the clearing. His vision for the proposal included soft, diffused light at golden hour—a photographer’s dream! Unfortunately, their private oasis was briefly interrupted by an unexpected visitor. A group of park-goers and their playful dog decided this serene picnic ground was the perfect spot for some evening fun. James’s carefully crafted plan teetered on the edge of disruption.

While this was happening, James was obviously biding his time waiting for them to leave. I had positioned myself discreetly behind my car, camera ready, waiting for the moment he dropped to one knee. As a photographer, blending into the surroundings is essential for capturing candid moments, but I may have gone a little overboard this time—James couldn’t even spot me from where he stood!

Thankfully, the unexpected visitors eventually moved on, leaving the couple alone to soak in the peaceful atmosphere. The delay, while nerve-wracking for James, gave the scene an added layer of suspense. Finally, the moment was his. As Marissa turned toward him, James lowered to one knee, ring in hand, and asked the question that would change their lives forever.

Thorngrove Manor Proposal: A Magical Moment for Adele & Emilio

When Emilio reached out to share his plan for a Thorngrove Manor proposal to Adele, excitement bubbled over. His vision was clear: a romantic, unforgettable moment at the enchanting Thorngrove Manor, one of Adelaide’s most exquisite and stately properties. His plan included a dreamy picnic on the manor’s manicured lawns, with the golden hues of the setting sun casting a romantic glow as he knelt on one knee. As a photographer, capturing these moments at Thorngrove Manor is always a privilege—it’s a location as unique as the love stories that unfold there.

Thorngrove Manor isn’t your average backdrop; it’s a fairytale come to life. Its timeless architecture, intricate stonework, and lush gardens create a setting brimming with romance. Since it’s not often open for weddings or events, opportunities to shoot there are rare and incredibly special. Emilio’s plan to surprise Adele in such a breathtaking setting was perfect in every way, except for one small hitch. But more on that later!

Setting the Stage for the Perfect Proposal

On the day of the proposal, I arrived at Thorngrove Manor early to meet the picnic team and strategize how best to remain unseen. Proposal photography is awfully fun like that, as I get to pretend Im a ninja or spy hiding in the bushes waiting to strike!

The setup was flawless—a cozy blanket, elegant decor, and a spread of delicious treats designed to delight. The manor stood majestically in the background, promising a proposal straight out of a storybook. As the finishing touches were added, I scoped out hiding spots and prepared to capture every detail of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The plan was to stay out of sight until Emilio and Adele walked in front of the manor. However, the gates posed an unexpected challenge. When the couple couldn’t get through, they ended up walking along the road, unknowingly passing by me and the picnic organizer crouched in the bushes! While it wasn’t quite the stealthy entrance Emilio had imagined, it brought a playful element to the day that we all laughed about later.
