Pt Noarlunga Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot – Jess & Jack

When Jess and Jack first shared their love story with me during our meeting at White Hill Estate, I knew their wedding was going to be one to remember. Their connection was vibrant, and their adventurous spirits were magnetic. As avid free divers, they spoke about their shared love for the ocean, and it wasn’t long before the idea of an underwater wreck the dress shoot came to life. With my own passion for having a fun time behind a camera like this, The day after their wedding, we brought this unique concept to the crystal-clear waters off Pt Noarlunga.

Jess and Jack were game for anything, and their playful energy made this experience unforgettable. Before diving into the ocean, we started with some fun shots along the shoreline. There’s nothing quite like the image of a bride’s gown catching the waves, creating a dramatic, flowing effect that feels almost otherworldly. From splashing through the surf to Jack cheekily scooping Jess up before tossing her into the shallows, it was pure joy captured through the lens.

Beachside Photoshoot

Pt Noarlunga is a treasure for beach photography. Its golden sands and rugged jetty offer a perfect backdrop for candid moments and romantic portraits. As the sun rose, Jess and Jack’s newlywed glow shone even brighter. Their laughter filled the salty air as they played like kids along the water’s edge, their love evident in every glance and touch.

We started with some light-hearted shots to ease into the shoot. Jess’s gown – technically NOT the one she had worn the day earlier, contrasted beautifully against the soft blues and whites of the coastline. Jack was dressed in his full suit however, adding to the romantic vibe of the shoot. The highlight? Capturing the waves fanning out her dress like a mermaid’s tail, a moment that combined elegance with the raw power of nature.

It was actually this shot which I had taken at a previous wreck the dress shoot that prompted Jess and Jack to get in contact and have me shoot their wedding! So any other adventurous souls out there wanting to do something outrageous for your wedding shoot, hit me up!

Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot

Diving into the waters of Pt Noarlunga was the next-level adventure we’d all been waiting for. The sun, which had hidden behind clouds on their wedding day, now shone brightly, illuminating the ocean with clarity and warmth. Still, the water was brisk, so we kept the session short but sweet, ensuring every moment counted. For safety and guidance, I brought along a skilled dive team, including the incredible Diana Fernie, who brought expertise and calm to the shoot.

Underwater shoots are a mix of art and science. Timing, positioning, and lighting are crucial, and Jess and Jack were naturals. They dove effortlessly, their movements slow and dreamlike, giving the camera a chance to capture their underwater waltz. Jess’s wedding gown—altered slightly for practicality—moved like liquid poetry, enhanced subtly in post-production to recreate the sweeping elegance of her wedding day dress.

Wreck-the-dress shoots are about more than just photos—they’re about capturing the essence of a couple’s journey. For Jess and Jack, the ocean is their shared sanctuary, a place where they’ve built countless memories together. To bring their wedding celebration into this environment was deeply meaningful, and it showed in every shot. Their love was playful yet profound, adventurous yet anchored, and this shoot reflected it all.

The session wrapped up with both exhilaration and relief as we climbed back onto the shore. Jess and Jack were shivering but smiling, thrilled by the experience. While the water had been chilly, the warmth of their connection radiated through every image. They thanked the dive team and myself for helping bring their dream to life, but truthfully, it was my honor to work with such a bold and inspiring couple.

The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot – Sam & Wayne

Sam and Wayne’s The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot was nothing short of magical! As a photographer who’s shot around 10 weddings here this year alone, I know every nook and cranny of this historic castle-like venue. But this shoot had something special—a quiet, almost serene atmosphere as Sam and Wayne had booked a room for a public holiday. With no weddings on that day, they had the entire place to themselves, creating a uniquely intimate experience for their engagement photos.

It’s rare to see The Manor so quiet. Usually, it’s bustling with wedding guests, vendors, and celebrations, but on this day, it felt like their own private castle. The only slight hiccup was not being able to fully access the iconic Romeo and Juliet balcony. But with a bit of clever positioning and perhaps a little post-editing magic, we still captured stunning moments that made it feel as if the whole venue was at their disposal. The weather played along perfectly, too, with a soft golden light filtering through the clouds, giving us that dreamy, glowing backdrop photographers love!

Taking Advantage of Golden Hour

We started the shoot in one of my favourite spots at The Manor—behind the chapel in the garden. The sunlight was at just the right angle, peeking through the trees and casting a warm, golden glow over the couple. The way Sam and Wayne looked at each other, bathed in that soft light, was pure magic. You could feel their connection through the camera. It’s moments like these that make engagement photography so rewarding.

After soaking up the garden vibes, we wandered towards the front of the castle. The grand stone architecture framed Sam and Wayne perfectly, making them look like royalty for a day. The timing couldn’t have been better—the sun continued to dance between clouds, casting everything in a light that photographers dream about. Sam’s smile, Wayne’s relaxed demeanor—they were a perfect fit for this timeless location.

A Picturesque Stroll Through The Orchard

Next on our agenda was a stop at The Manor’s orchard, which was in full bloom. The pops of fresh white blossoms against the deep greenery made for some incredibly romantic photos. Sam was absolutely glowing in her dress as she walked through the rows of trees hand-in-hand with Wayne. The atmosphere was calm, almost ethereal, and you could feel the love and anticipation for their future wedding.

Sam and Wayne were naturals in front of the camera, needing very little direction. Their joy and love for each other shone through every shot. The blooming orchard not only provided a stunning visual backdrop but also added a sense of fresh beginnings—perfect for an engagement shoot. And with Wayne making Sam laugh between shots, it was easy to capture their candid moments that truly tell the story of their relationship.

A Dramatic Outfit Change: The Black Dress

After spending some time in the orchard, Sam did a quick change into a striking black dress, bringing a whole new vibe to the shoot. The contrast between the classic, soft colors of the surroundings and her bold outfit choice made for some dramatic and memorable shots. We used the castle’s winding staircases, stone archways, and shadowy corners to capture a different side of Sam and Wayne’s personalities. Sam’s confidence in this outfit was radiant, and Wayne couldn’t keep his eyes off her!

Blanche Point: A Wedding Photographer’s Dream Location

Blanche Point, with its dramatic cliffs and expansive ocean views, is an Adelaide gem. The rugged landscape has been a favorite for local photographers for years—and for good reason! The wide, open skies, endless ocean, and steep cliff faces create an otherworldly backdrop that brings out the magic in every shot. I usually recommend this spot to couples looking for something different, and Sadaf and Salar were up for the challenge.

When we headed out for the photoshoot, it was midday—unusual, as most couples opt for a dreamy sunset shoot. But with the overcast sky and the fresh sea breeze, we had the perfect lighting. While the weather was a bit moody, it gave the photos a soft, ethereal quality that worked beautifully with Sadaf’s stunning bridal look. And her long, flowing veil? It took on a life of its own in the wind, soaring and twirling like something out of a fairytale.

Wind, Flies, and Veils: Embracing the Elements

As any Adelaide photographer will tell you, the wind at Blanche Point can be quite a character in itself. On this day, it certainly wanted to play a starring role. While some might see the gusty conditions as a challenge, for Sadaf and Salar, it added an extra dose of drama to their photos. The wind picked up Sadaf’s veil and made it dance through the air in the most majestic way. Every photo looked like a cinematic moment with her veil swirling around them.

Of course, it wasn’t all picture-perfect. The flies were out in full force, buzzing around like they owned the place. But even with a few extra “guests” in attendance, Sadaf and Salar handled it like pros. They laughed through it, brushing off the flies as we captured those intimate, stolen glances and candid moments. The two of them were absolutely adorable together, never missing a beat despite the pesky insects or the wind. It’s these natural, unscripted moments that really bring out the personalities of a couple, and they didn’t disappoint!

Baby Samara’s Newborn Shoot

Little Baby Samara came into the studio on such short notice for a newborn session, and with good reason. Her parents had just learned that early the next week, she would need to wear a hip brace due to hip dysplasia. The urgency of capturing her in all her soft, delicate, uninhibited glory before that brace went on was absolutely understood. It was a moment they wanted to freeze in time—a moment where she could still wriggle her tiny legs freely and comfortably.

As a photographer, but also as a parent, this moment hit home for me in a unique way. My own little Chloe had gone through the same experience with hip dysplasia. I knew all too well what it meant for Baby Samara and her parents. For a while, those tiny legs wouldn’t be able to kick or curl up naturally, and those sweet moments of movement would soon be paused for the sake of her health. Knowing this gave the shoot an extra layer of emotional significance for me, and it was my goal to capture the softness and serenity of Samara, just as she was, before the brace became a part of her early journey.

Baby Samara’s shoot in our home studio

The session itself was filled with calm, patience, and warmth, though Baby Samara was quick to make her feelings known when the room wasn’t warm enough. Like any newborn shoot, we were working with a very small window of time between naps, feeds, and little bursts of grumpiness—those adorable, scrunchy, frowny faces that parents cherish. Baby Samara was no exception. As soon as the air hit her delicate skin, she let us know it was a bit too chilly for her liking! Once wrapped back up, or even better, once she was nestled into her mum or dad’s arms, all was right in her world again.

This shoot took place in our cozy home studio here in Aberfoyle Park, where we’ve crafted the perfect environment for newborn sessions. The soft lighting, comfortable seating for parents, and our go-to props were all in place, ready to make Samara shine. The focus of this shoot was all on her, and we kept the parents mostly in the background, occasionally swooping in for a cuddle or a reassuring stroke on her back. These tender moments, while not the main focus of the images, were everything for keeping the session smooth and Baby Samara content.

By the end of the session, we had a beautiful collection of photos that truly captured Baby Samara’s essence. Her tiny toes, her sleepy expressions, and even her grumpy little moments were all frozen in time. These images are now a part of her story—one that her parents will look back on with fondness. This newborn phase is always fleeting, but for Samara, it held even more significance because of what was just around the corner.

As a newborn photographer in Adelaide, I’m reminded constantly of how precious these early days are. Baby Samara’s shoot was a beautiful reminder of the importance of capturing every phase of life, even the tiniest ones, because they pass all too quickly. A Belair National Park family shoot is always a fantastic idea, and this session with an adorable family made the day even more special! The park is an absolute gem in Adelaide, offering countless spots for magical family moments. When I arrived, the scene was already set: the sun was dancing through the towering gum trees, casting golden beams across the lush landscape. It’s the kind of light photographers dream about, perfect for capturing those heartwarming family interactions.

The focus of the shoot was their sweet little girl, who was about to turn one! She had just woken up from a nap and was in a fantastic mood, flashing those infectious baby smiles that can light up a room—or in this case, the entire national park! She was the center of attention, giggling as her family doted on her. Those moments, filled with love and warmth, truly embodied the essence of a Belair National Park family shoot. It was clear this wasn’t just a regular photo session; it was a chance to capture memories that would be cherished for a lifetime.

As we moved through different parts of the park, we made sure to capture every combination of family members—grandparents holding their little granddaughter, parents sharing a laugh, and the whole family together, framed by the natural beauty of the park. Every shot was a reflection of their strong bond, and having the grandparents there made the photos even more meaningful. The journey from Singapore to Adelaide was worth it, as these pictures will no doubt become treasured family heirlooms, connecting their roots in a tangible way.

The light in Belair National Park was nothing short of magical. There’s something about the way sunlight filters through the gum trees that gives photos a special glow.
