    Sunnybrae Estate Pavilion Wedding

    Crozier st wedding photo

Ritamaree and Sydney’s wedding in mid November was certainly one to remember! Fireworks, ‘fun’ weather and lovely people all combined to produce an amazing wedding day which was really a delight to be a part of!

They held a Sunnybrae Estate Pavilion Wedding ceremony as their first choice of venue, on the grass with the square arbour was unfortunately ruled out due to weather, but this was really the only set back during the whole day which certainly never phased this lovely couple!

Sydney’s Preparation

Sydney was preparaed with his groomsmen in a room of the stunning EoS by SkyCity hotel overlooking the Adelaide Oval. The room they had was wonderfully airy and light, while we also made sure to use the stunning lobby of the hotel and even the carpark entrance for some industrial-themed shots which Sydney was a big fan of!

Ritamaree’s Preparation

Ritamaree had a bit more going on at her place of preparation – her parent’s house along side quite a few of her family and friends! They had a bit of a luncheon going which made for some lovely scenes with all members of her family.

It was quite fun to have not only a wedding dress first look with Ritamaree’s Dad and Brother, but also the majority of her bridal party hadnt seen the dress either! So we got some lovely emotions when they walked in and saw her looking radiant in her stunning dress! Not to mention the hundreds of other guests as she walked down the stairs!

We needed a bit of photoshop magic to get the cork on their champagne bottle to pop, and the bridal motorcade was running a bit behind time, but it was all smiles on Ritamaree’s face as she seemed to really enjoy the time before her big moment at Sunnybrae!

Sunnybrae Estate Pavilion Wedding Ceremony

While the weather wasn’t overly bad during their Sunnybrae Estate Pavilion wedding ceremony, Ritamaree and Sydney erred on the safe side by having their ceremony indoors rather than the original plan outside. The weather over the last few weeks was certainly not easy to forecast!

This meant that their ceremony was held in front of the wide windows overlooking the grassy field to the side of the Sunnybrae Estate.

Their ceremony itself was a nice, simple ceremony with heartfelt vows that made everyone laugh and get to know this lovely couple a little better, before exiting under petals and hugs and kisses outside under the pergola.

We did however head over to the original ceremony location for a group photo with the drone, then smaller group photos nearby the grass.

Glamour Photos

For glamour photos, we first used as much of the Sunnybrae grounds as we could before our time on site was up – which was good as we managed to capture some nature within their wedding photos before heading over to Crozier street in Port Adelaide for more industrial scenes.

Crozier street was certainly a popular spot to be on this particular Saturday as I remember seeing at least 4 other weddings rock up trying to use the area for photos – thankfully we got there first and managed to get all the best scenes!

Donato Reception Center Wedding Reception

The Denato Reception Center was a place I had been to before, but hadnbt been to in many years and I was super exicted to shoot in here again! Ritamaree and Sydney made the most of the stunning sunken dancefloor and filled it with fireworks and dry ice for their first dance, while also playing some fun games to get people up for their bouquet and garter tosses!

Sunnybrae Wedding – Linda & Jonathon

    Sunnybrae Wedding

It was a wonderful experience covering Linda and Jonothan’s Sunnybrae wedding in early November. The day was filled with fun filled family and friends, with a delightful dash of tradition and a bit of fun dodging the weather!

The day began with a traditional tea ceremony, photos at Port Adelaide’s Crozier Street and reception back at one of the Sunnybrae wedding reception spaces.

Preparation

I started my day, quite early in the morning with Jonathon and his groomsmen getting ready with his groomsmen. The morning was quite relaxed with plenty of coffee and fun trying to attach those annoying flowers!

I then head over to where Linda was being preparaed for a quick shoot of her and her being preparaed with her red dress, and some group shots with family before Jonathon arrived to begin their tea ceremony.

Chinese Tea Ceremony

Linda and Jonathon had me with them from quite early in the morning in order to cover their tea ceremony conducted with their family.

The best part in my opinion of a traditional Chinese tea ceremony like this is the fun trials the groom and his entourage have to go through in order to enter the home where they can see the bride! In Jonathon’s case, Linda had her bridesmaids ask Jonathon and his groomsmen to drink odd things, transfer a piece of seaweed between each other using only their lips and of course sing and dance so Linda could hear them!

Linda and Jonathon held tea ceremonies at two houses – the first where Linda was being prepared with Linda’s side of the family, and another at their own home with Jonothan’s side of the family.

White dress preparation

After the trea ceremonies, Linda had to change out of her red dress into her white bridal gown in preparation for the ceremony. So Jonathon left for Sunnybrae earlier while Linda and her brides maids prepared.

Sunnybrae Wedding Ceremony

When we arrived for their Sunnybrae wedding ceremony, the weather had taken a turn for the worse with a bit of rain hampering the preparations. Jonathon was weighing up their options, on whether or not to move the ceremony inside or wait until the rain passed to have the ceremony outside as planned. With the help of my weather predicting apps, I suggested we wait 15 minutes after the scheduled beginning time as the weather radar looked as though the rain would pass – and it did and they held the ceremony outside.

The Sunnybrae wedding ceremony location Linda and Jonathon chose is a permanent set up out the back of the Sunnybrae complex, complete with concrete state and permenant large wooden armour under which the ceremony takes place. There is ample room for the largest of wedding congregations on the grassy area at the fore of the stage, while the bride makes a majestic entrance walking through a wooden pargola.

Sunnybrae Wedding Reception

Linda and Jonathon’s wedding reception look place at the SUnnybrae Coach House, withis is a huge, rustic space suited for large wedding parties with a delightful old-time flair that sets the mood nicely!

The evening was fun to be a part of, complete with mirror photobooth, and a gelati stand for guests everyone had a great time, and even coaxed the DJ to play a few more songs after closing time!

I managed to take Linda and Jonathon around the Sunnybrae grounds for some night time shots too which I thought turned out pretty spectacular! But not as spectacular as Jonothan serenading Linda on the dance floor a bit later in the night!

The whole day was perfectly ended by a delightful sparkler send off with all Linda and Jonathon’s guests lin=ing the walkway with sparklers in hand.

Surprise Backyard Wedding in Woodville – Natasha & Jono

    Surprise Backyard Wedding

Bride and groom celebrating their wedding on Semaphore Beach

Natasha and Jono held their wedding in their backyard on what turned out to be a lovely day surrounded by intimate family and friends who had mostly travelled to Adelaide for their engagement party. Natasha and Jono decided, considering everyone had travelled to attend their party, they’ll turn their engagement party into their Surprise Backyard wedding instead. An alternative was going to be holding their wedding on a beach in New Zealand, but they figured it’d be easier for everyone if they held it here, in their backyard. 🙂

Preparation

Natasha and her bridal party were geting ready with a small selection of family and friends in a house nearby. I took photos of the girls getting ready, and together in their custom kimonos, before heading over to the boys before Natasha had put on her dress – as I was going to get that shot ust before the ceremony when she changes again.

Jono and his groomsmen were getting ready on site at the couple’s home in Woodville. In between putting on their shirts, and trying on their new fedoras, they were also running about putting some finishing touches on small parts of the wedding reception setup in the backyard.

Glamour photos

As their engagement party ruse was set up as an evening affair, with a marquee set up on the back lawn and food and drink available for dinner; Natasha and Jono decided to have their glamour photos done prior to their wedding ceremony. We head down to the Semaphore Beach to make use of the pristine sand and dunes available there for family photos, before heading just up the road a bit for the more photo friendly Largs Bay jetty.

To add a little bit of variety to the photos, and also because the sky was looking a little grey, I suggested heading through Port Adelaide and using the famed Crozier Street for a bit of an industrial slant to Natasha and Jono’s photos.

Surprise Backyard Wedding Ceremony

Many of Natasha and Jono’s guests had travelled from around Australia and New Zealand in order to attend their engagement party that was set up in their backyard, and they continued this ruse riught up until the beginning of the wedding ceremony where Jono’s groomsmen carried out the arbour that was hidden in their shed. Natasha snuck off during a time where guests were mingling and settling in for a fun night of celebration to change into her wedding dress again before reemerging.

Many of their guests were quite surprised about attending their wedding there and then, whichwas great to see! It’s often the case that the surprise is ruined well before by something, but their surprise wedding was quite successful! The ceremony itself was a nice affair with Aboriginal and Maori traditions coming together, complete with a ‘Welcome to country‘, Maori songs, and even a didgeridoo procession. It was lovely to be a part of!

Surprise Backyard Wedding Reception

All the food was set up on a long table within their shed out the back, which guests were asked to serve themselves from, and drnks wer self served from a pretty neat rental bar with several different drinks on tap. During the night I took Natasha and Jono to a nearby spot to make use of the incredible sunset that had set in, and also made sure to get some of the spaklers within the photos during their first dance. It was a great night!

Crozier Street & Grange Engagement shoot – Costa & Suzie

Crozier street & Grange Engagement shoot

    Crozier Street money shot

Costa contacted me via my Facebook page looking to have an engagement shoot done at short notice as both himself and his fiancee will be in town at the same time. Luckily I had a day free as I actually had two weddings on the same weekend that Costa wanted to have their shoot done, but luckily they were on the Friday and Saturday, so I had the Sunday free 🙂 I asked him what time of shots he’d prefer and he suggested something industrial. Really only one place to go in Adelaide for a shoot like that, Crozier Street in Port Adelaide! It’s a super popular spot for taking photos, to the point that on Saturdays you’d often find yourself queueing up behind several other weddings just to shoot there 🙂 We started the shoot at the Grange jetty nearby though for a bit of variety in the photos.

Sacred Heart Church Wedding – Katie & Jakob

December 24, 2018/in Wedding preview, Wedding
  • Katie & Jakob

    Sacred Heart Church Wedding

    Semaphore Beach Sunset

OK, this wedding turned out to be an absolutely stunning day, beautiful people, an organised – well thought out timeline, amazing locations and topped off with the most incredible sunset which Katie and Jakob were more than keen on heading out to use! The Sacred Heart Church in Semaphore was the historic venue of their ceremony, while we head out to Port Adelaide’s famed Crozier Street, and the Semaphore Jetty for some beautiful glamour photos before retiring to the Palais for their reception. I was lucky enough to be asked to be their wedding photographer for their entire day and I’m so pleased they did! I’ve provided them with almost 800(!) photos from their day which is about 150 more than usual just because it was such an awesome day!

Preparation

Jakob had an unusual request to begin the day at his local pub, sharing a beer with his groomsmen at the crack of dawn for some photos which was a great way to shake off any nerves and have some fun with is boys before starting to get dressed back at his parent’s house. The entire morning was jovial and if Jakob was feeling any nerves, he didn’t show it!
