WHITE HILL ESTATE
The Olivers White Hill Estate, also known as the Olivers Chaff Shed or Olivers Winery is a historic house built atop a hill surrounded by vineyards in the middle of the Mclaren Vale wine district. The house operates as a bed and breakfast where it’s often the case that the bridal couple stays the night there, while the bride would be prepared inside. The gardens of the house boasts a pond where most wedding ceremonies take place, lined by large elegant gum trees.
The actual Chaff Shed, as it’s old name indicated is an old barn like structure situated at the top of a large grassy area which is great for lawn games, or kids running about while you enjoy your wedding reception in and around the rustic themed structure. Everything is within walking distance and makes for a lovely, intimate area to hold a wedding ceremony which doesnt require members of your wedding party to relocate inbetween the ceremony and reception as ift can all be hosted on site.
The Oliver family, the original namesake of the Olivers White Hill Estate, were part of the pioneering history of South Australia. William and Elizabeth Oliver established the White Hill property in the 1840’s as part of their winery empire and recent generations continue to maintain and lovingly restore the heritage buildings on the property. Weddings have reportedly been held at the estate since the very beginning and as such the location has become highly sort after for many different couples.
The Chaff shed itself can house 80 seated guests to a wedding, however with extensions and differences in catering the venue can host up to 180 guests. The homestead has 7 large double bedrooms with 2 additional single beds available. So if you’re planning on staying a little while with firends or family, the homestead can sleep up to maximum of 16 guests.
As a reception venue, Olivers White Hill Estate partners with a variety of different on-site catering companies, you can select from via their wedding details on their website. Or you can bring in your own catering company.
