Middleton Beach Huts Wedding – Lauren & Marty

  • Lauren & Marty

    Middleton Beach Huts Wedding

    Amongst the grass

I always love heading down to the Middleton Beach Huts for a wedding, as the nearby scenery and awesome setting that the beach huts provide always make for stunning wedding photography! So when Lauren and Marty asked me to be their wedding photographer for the day, I was very excited to be a part of their day! Another neat part of their day was the fact that their DJ had suggested using his private land up in the hills for photos instead of the usual heading down to the beach, so we got to use some awesome gumtrees as a backdrop instead.

Preparation

After having set up my photo booth in preparation for Lauren and Marty’s reception, I sauntered over to the Beach Huts that Lauren and Marty were getting ready in. They were using two separate huts adjacent to one another, so it was easy enough to flit in between places of preparation which was great.

The air surrounding Lauren and Marty was very laid back, and easy going, with little to ruffle feathers and only the slightest showing of nerves from Marty, the groom 🙂 As soon as he donned his crows scarf though, and mentions of his hero, Taylor Walker, it soon vanished 🙂

Middleton Beach Huts Wedding Ceremony

It was a super sunny day, and unfortunately there’s little shade for the congregation on the grassy area of the Middleton Beach Huts, so it made it tricky to mitigate the harsh shadows and highlights when taking photos, but it was certainly a love filled ceremony and the weather was really nothing to complain about!

Glamour Photos

After the group photos, we began our glamour photos session by walking around the grounds together with the bridal party, making use of the curated gardens and unique vibe the venue provides. We then hopped in the car for a bit of a drive to the aforementioned private property of their DJ. It happened to be an old winery estate, filled with rolling hills and stunning gum trees, which I loved taking photos of! On the way back we stopped off at the beach for a few shots using the sunset 🙂

Middleton Beach Huts Wedding Reception

Finally, with the wedding reception on site, all the guests were already packed into the restaurant when we arrived back, leaving little room to move! It was a great atmosphere, with guests spilling out into the outside areas, making use of the balmy weather. The dance floor was packed all night, and I had a blast! 🙂

Crozier Street & Grange Engagement shoot – Costa & Suzie

  • COSTA & SUZIE

    Crozier Street money shot

Costa contacted me via my Facebook page looking to have an engagement shoot done at short notice as both himself and his fiancee will be in town at the same time. Luckily I had a day free as I actually had two weddings on the same weekend that Costa wanted to have their shoot done, but luckily they were on the Friday and Saturday, so I had the Sunday free 🙂 I asked him what time of shots he’d prefer and he suggested something industrial. Really only one place to go in Adelaide for a shoot like that, Crozier Street in Port Adelaide! It’s a super popular spot for taking photos, to the point that on Saturdays you’d often find yourself queueing up behind several other weddings just to shoot there 🙂 We started the shoot at the Grange jetty nearby though for a bit of variety in the photos.

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding – Angela & Don

  • ANGELA & DON

    Glenelg Golf Course Wedding

    With the Wedding Car

It was one of the first real warm days of the year on the day of Angela and Don’s wedding that took place at the Glenelg Golf Course. I was asked to be their wedding photographer from their preparation through to the end of their reception and it was an awesome day to be a part of! The weather was awesome all day, which brought some good and bad situations during the day, but it all worked out in the end! 😀

Preparation

Don and his groomsmen were being prepared in a room at the Grand on the Glenelg foreshore – it was quite a simple affair with good natured jibes being thrown at one another while getting ready in the room. After everyone was dressed we went for a bit of a walk nearby the beach for some different, scenic shots.

I arrived at the bridal place of preparation to the tune of Frozen’s ‘Let it go’ anthem playing in the background as Angela and Don’s little flower girl was running about watching and singing while trying to help out with whatever she could 🙂 To keep her entertained the girls would play a bit of ‘whats the time Mr.Wolf?’ Which is always fun.

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding Ceremony

The Glenelg Golf Course has a little grassy area off set from the nearby practice greens specifically allocated for holding wedding ceremonies. It’s a large enough area to hold larger sized wedding parties while having a backdrop of a few trees in front of a nearby fairway. Angela and Don’s wedding ceremony was a short, sweet affair, complete with personal readings from family members and fun shenanigans when Don went to kiss Angela while signing the registry. Some of the kids also found it fun to throw copious amounts of petals over Angela 🙂

Glamour Photos

After the group photos which we took in front of their bridal car, we used the car, and a rather powerful looking bubble machine(!) in a few photos at the Golf Course itself, before heading off towards the Grange beach and it’s Jetty. Unfortunately on the drive down there we soon realised that due to it being one of the first really warm days of the Summer, everyone in Adelaide had the same idea! The roads were packed with beach goers and we ended up heading to the closer Henley Beach Jetty. A bit of photoshop went into removing all the people in the background in some of their beach shots! What we got though I think I was happy wth and Angela and Don were keen to get away from the crowds as quickly as possible.

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding Reception

We then head back to the Glenelg Golf Course for Angela and Don’s reception in their very neat reception hall. The entire night was boisterous with the dance floor only being vacant for very short periods, while Angela and Don’s little flower girl really stole the limelight where she treated the entire party to a cute rendition of Frozen’s ‘Let it Go’. Don also made waves by borrowing the DJ’s kilt! Was a very fun night.

Sferas Convention Center Wedding – Michelle & Matt

I was happy to be a part of Michelle and Matt’s wedding at the Sferas Convention Center as their wedding photographer on a beautiful early October day! I was asked to cover their wedding for 4 hours, while staying the night manning the SvenStudos photobooth, which got a good workout throughout the night!

Sferas Convention Center Wedding Ceremony

The Sferas chapel in behind the Convention center complex was the location of their wedding ceremony. It’s a long, thin room designed to be fairly intimate and cozy, with a grand piano and floral decor at it’s head. The ceremony was a short and sweet affair, highlighted by Michelle and Matt’s adorable little daughter who was smiling the entire way through, along with an entertaining episode where the best man almost dropped the rings 🙂

Glamour Photos

After the group photos which were taken on the grassy area directly beside the Convention Center, we used the rest of Civic Park for a few glamour photos before heading over the road to make use of the more rustic backdrops of weeping willows and long, unkempt grass. We also returned to the hanging lights in Civic Park later in the night for some nighttime shots.

Sferas Convention Center Wedding Reception

The Sferas Convention Center boasts multiple, large function rooms, and as it happened, they were using at least 3 of them on the same night as Michelle and Matt’s wedding reception. The room in which Michelle and Matt chose to hold their reception was my favourite room of the lot – the Studio. While it isn’t the largest, I like it a lot for the lovely curved windows overlooking the nearby park.
