A wedding day like Isabella and Nick’s is why I adore photographing celebrations in the Barossa Valley. The charm of Grand Cru Estate, the emotional depth of the moments shared, and the effortless beauty of the surroundings made this wedding an absolute dream to capture. The day had that misty Adelaide Hills charm — soft light, gentle drizzle, and clouds that rolled dramatically across the valley. The rain may have toyed with us throughout the afternoon, but in true cinematic style, it cleared right when we needed it to. The couple’s choice of location — the upper terrace overlooking the sweeping gardens — couldn’t have been more fitting. It was as if the weather itself knew when to hold its breath.
Pre-Ceremony
Before the ceremony began, the anticipation was gentle but real. Kimberley got ready within the elegant rooms of Mt Lofty House — a space that exudes timeless charm.
One of the most touching parts of the afternoon was her first look with her dad. These quiet moments before the ceremony are often my favourite to photograph — they hold such tenderness. Mt Lofty House Elopement Ceremony
The ceremony itself was simple and heartfelt. The rain had finally decided to take a break, leaving the air fresh and cool — the kind of perfect Adelaide Hills weather that makes everything feel alive. Kimberley walked down the aisle to the unmistakable melody of The Lord of the Rings theme, a subtle nod to their shared fandom. It was such a unique touch, and I couldn’t help but grin behind the camera as the notes echoed through the terrace.

Once the ceremony wrapped up, we made the most of the moody weather and the stunning grounds of Mt Lofty House. The first stop was around the house itself and the grand sandstone walls — perfect shelter while the drizzle lingered. The couple moved so naturally together, slipping easily between laughter and little moments of stillness that felt effortless to capture.
As the rain eased, we ventured into the gardens. The mist rising from the valley below gave everything a soft, ethereal glow. We explored corners of the property that most guests never see — little pathways framed by wild ivy, staircases leading to hidden vantage points, and sweeping lawns that overlook the distant ridges of the Adelaide Hills. The romance of the place is undeniable; Mt Lofty House feels like something out of a storybook, and this couple fit right in.

For the creative ring shot, I channelled the fiery aesthetic of Mount Doom — without the doom, of course. Using a combination of light, reflection, and a little post-production magic, the result was something that felt equal parts dramatic and personal. The engraved Elvish script caught the glow perfectly, symbolising not just their love of fantasy but the bond they’d forged in real life.
We finished just as the clouds began to roll back in, wrapping up the glamour session with soft, golden tones that peeked through the trees. As the light faded, the couple rejoined their loved ones for dinner at the Mt Lofty House restaurant — a fittingly elegant end to an enchanting day.
