As the sun lowered, the celebration shifted to the Rydges Hotel at the south-west corner of Adelaide’s CBD. The top floor reception room offered sweeping views of the city, and on this particular evening, the sunset painted the sky in shades of orange and pink. Ayers House Wedding Reception

Returning to Ayers House, Rachel and Ivan began their reception with a first dance back in the grandeur of the Old Ballroom. There’s something spectacular about seeing a couple move beneath the sparkling chandelier, surrounded by their loved ones cheering them on. The ballroom’s scale gave the dance an almost cinematic quality, and the photographs captured that magic effortlessly.

Afterward, the celebration shifted to the more intimate Henry’s Table and Bar within the mansion. Guests settled in for heartfelt speeches that ranged from tear-jerking to hilarious, all reflecting the love and warmth felt throughout the day. The setting offered a cosy, inviting space to wrap up an evening filled with joy. As the night came to a close, Rachel and Ivan’s smiles said it all – their Ayers House wedding had been everything they dreamed of and more, and I was honoured to capture every unforgettable moment.

Nestled in the heart of Glenelg, this heritage-listed venue offered the perfect mix of elegance and tranquillity for their special day. With a unique morning ceremony and a relaxed lunch reception, their wedding flowed with ease, joy, and effortless style. Everything about the day, from the lush gardens to the breezy beachfront photos, reflected their easygoing nature and deep connection.

From the moment I arrived, the buzz of anticipation was in the air. With the ceremony scheduled before midday, everything kicked off with a refreshing sense of calm – a welcome contrast to the usual whirlwind energy of late-afternoon weddings. The dappled morning light bathed the grounds beautifully, and it was clear this was going to be one of those weddings where the atmosphere matched the couple’s personalities – warm, genuine, and filled with joy.

Pre-Ceremony

Mei, ever-graceful, arrived glowing and composed, while Daniel was a bundle of nerves and smiles rolled into one. With everything taking place on site, there was no rush – just a gentle hum of activity as guests trickled in and found their seats under the grand tree that anchors Partridge House’s ceremony space.

The light posed a bit of a challenge – with the sun hanging low in front of the ceremony spot, casting strong shadows and flares. But that golden morning glow brought its own kind of magic. Guests squinted through their sunglasses and shaded their faces with programs, but no one minded a bit. The ceremony itself was full of heartfelt moments. Mei’s entrance was elegant and timeless, framed by the greenery and the historic beauty of Partridge House behind her. Daniel’s expression as he saw her for the first time was priceless – that mix of awe and pure love that makes documenting weddings such a joy. Their celebrant kept things light but meaningful, weaving stories about their journey together with sincerity and warmth.

Being surrounded by blooming gardens and the character-filled façade of Partridge House created a timeless backdrop. After the official ‘I do’s’, the couple was absolutely swarmed by hugs, kisses, and happy tears. We took the opportunity to capture group shots in front of the house – it’s one of those iconic Adelaide wedding photo spots that never loses its charm. Guests laughed, kids ran around the lawn, and there was that wonderful sense of community and celebration everywhere you looked.

Glamour Photos

With formalities done and everyone heading to The Grand for the reception, we took a little detour for some glamour portraits around the grounds and then down to Glenelg foreshore. The gardens surrounding Partridge House were perfect for those romantic, leafy moments. The textured stone walls, arching branches, and soft light filtering through created a dreamy, vintage feel to Mei and Daniel’s couple portraits.

Heading down to Glenelg Beach brought a whole new vibe – playful, breezy, and so full of life. The beachfront was dotted with Sunday strollers and curious onlookers, many of whom offered cheers and congratulations as we passed. It’s one of the perks of shooting weddings in such a public, iconic spot – the whole world seems to celebrate with you. The wide open sky, the rhythm of the waves, and the sand beneath their feet brought out the couple’s fun, relaxed side. Then it was on to the Grand’s majestic steps – a striking, elegant location that added a pop of architectural drama to the album.

The Grand Hotel Wedding Reception

The Stamford Grand Hotel played host to their lunch-time reception, with panoramic views of Glenelg beach adding a little seaside sparkle to the festivities. With a late lunch format, everything felt unhurried – a welcome change that gave guests more time to mingle, enjoy the atmosphere, and simply celebrate without feeling bound to a tight timeline. The space was styled simply but beautifully, with soft florals and personal touches sprinkled throughout.

A definite highlight of the afternoon was Mei and Daniel’s choreographed first dance. It was a gorgeous surprise – smooth, elegant, and clearly something they had practiced together for weeks. It added such a personal note to the celebration, and the whole room lit up with applause and laughter as they twirled across the floor. Speeches followed – some funny, some tear-jerking – all of them heartfelt. As the sun streamed through the windows and music drifted in the background, the vibe was relaxed, love-filled, and full of happiness.

Sunnybrae Estate Wedding – Jess & Cam

Jess and Cam absolutely nailed the brief when it came to planning a day that was fun, full of heart, and uniquely them. Their Sunnybrae Estate wedding landed on a sun-soaked day—blue skies, golden light, and the perfect Adelaide warmth that makes everything feel just that little bit more magical. From the very first moment I arrived, it was obvious this wasn’t going to be your typical, run-of-the-mill wedding. There was laughter, music, sporty antics, and a whole lot of love.

Sunnybrae Estate is one of those Adelaide venues that really shines with a late afternoon ceremony. The light there glows in a way that makes everyone look like they’re living inside a romantic movie. Add in two people like Jess and Cam, who have so much personality and presence, and you’ve got the recipe for a standout day. The whole estate was buzzing with excitement, from the getting ready moments right through to the last song on the dancefloor.

Preparation

Cam was all energy and cheekiness when I met up with him at a Glenelg bed and breakfast. It was clear from the start that he was ready to lean into the day and have a blast. As a sports announcer, he was 100% in his element when he and his groomsmen did a mock “stadium walk-in” like a team entering the field. Complete with commentary and dramatic gestures, it was as hilarious as it was totally on-brand.

His family’s cricketing legacy didn’t go unnoticed—subtle nods throughout the morning, some banter between the boys, and those sporty touches made the whole vibe feel so Cam. The love heart sunnies made an early appearance and set the tone for some seriously silly, joyful photos. From tying ties backwards to impromptu backyard warm-up stretches, this crew knew how to keep it light. Honestly, it was hard to put the camera down with all the moments unfolding so naturally.

Meanwhile, Jess was getting ready just a few streets over at her parents’ house—and wow, what a vibe. The place was still decked out with cheeky hens night balloons, and the laughter coming from the girls’ room was absolutely infectious. Everyone was having a ball, and Jess was the glowing, beaming centre of it all. Her dress hung like a piece of art in the corner while glasses of bubbly were being topped up, and tunes floated through the house.

At one point, the girls headed out for a champagne spray that ended up with more giggles than spray—but it was all part of the fun. Jess’s mum was clearly soaking up every moment, and her dad? Well, let’s just say he had his emotional moment coming soon. From the makeup brushes to the final touches on the bouquet, the morning flew by in a joyful whirlwind.

First Look

There’s always something special about a first look with a parent, and Jess’s moment with her dad in their backyard was tender and teary in the best way. He beamed with pride and held her tight like he never wanted to let go. Just as the emotions from that moment settled, we brought Cam in for his first look—and that’s when things really hit home.

Cam turned around and his face completely lit up. That split-second where he took Jess in, dress and all, was priceless. The couple just melted into each other’s arms. You could tell this was the moment they’d both been waiting for. The bridal party helped pin the flowers onto the boys’ suits—lots of fiddly bits and laughter—and we had time for a few relaxed group shots before heading out for some fun.

We made our way to Crozier Street for the bridal party shoot, and what a dream this group was to photograph. Tucked amongst the weathered red bricks and rusted textures of historic industrial buildings, they were game for absolutely anything. From dramatic dips to completely ridiculous poses, the energy was off the charts—and that’s exactly what made it so brilliant.

The juxtaposition of Jess in her flowing gown with the gritty urban backdrop gave everything such a cinematic feel. This crew weren’t afraid to be a little goofy, and those playful personalities absolutely came through in the shots.
