Botanic Gardens Palm House Wedding – Kelly & David

As an Adelaide photographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing many beautiful weddings, and Kelly and David’s Palm House wedding at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens was a dream come true. Nestled under a majestic gum tree in the northern part of the gardens, their ceremony space was nothing short of enchanting. The sun graced us with its presence, bathing the entire area in a warm, golden light. Thankfully, Kelly and David had thoughtfully arranged large umbrellas to shield their guests from the sun’s intensity, adding a touch of elegance and comfort to the setting.

David’s anticipation was almost palpable as he waited for Kelly, his eyes occasionally darting towards the white carpet (a color he was initially unsure of, but which turned out to be perfect!). When Kelly made her entrance to their Palm House Wedding, fashionably late, the atmosphere was electric. The ceremony was filled with laughter and heartfelt moments, especially during the humorous retelling of their initial Facebook exchanges. It was a privilege to witness and capture these moments, making sure each photograph reflected the joy and uniqueness of their special day.

Glamour Photos

Post-ceremony, the bridal party and I embarked on an exploratory photo session around the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. The gardens, with their diverse landscapes and stunning backdrops, provided the perfect canvas for our glamour shots. We journeyed through lush greenery, pausing at picturesque spots to capture the essence of the day. The light was soft and flattering, ideal for highlighting Kelly’s radiant beauty and the couple’s palpable love.

As the day progressed, the air grew slightly cooler, bringing a refreshing change to the atmosphere. This shift in weather added a dynamic element to our photo session, as we played with different settings and moods. The bridal party was a joy to work with, their energy and enthusiasm infusing each photo with a sense of fun and spontaneity. By the end of the session, we had an array of stunning photographs that truly encapsulated the essence of Kelly and David’s love story.

The Lion Hotel Wedding Reception

The day’s festivities continued at The Lion Hotel, where Kelly and David had planned their reception. Situated in the heart of North Adelaide, The Lion Hotel boasts a unique charm, blending historical elegance with a modern twist. The cellar, where the reception was held, provided a cozy and intimate setting. Its rustic ambience was the perfect backdrop for the evening’s celebrations, creating an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity.

As the evening unfolded, the cellar came alive with laughter, music, and dancing. The joy and love in the room were almost tangible, making it a delight to photograph. Guests mingled, shared stories, and celebrated the newlyweds in a setting that felt both grand and intimate. The night was filled with memorable moments, from heartfelt toasts to lively dance moves, each one a testament to the couple’s journey and the bonds they share with their loved ones.

As a photographer, capturing these moments in a way that felt true to the spirit of the day was both a challenge and a privilege, resulting in a collection of images that Kelly and David will cherish for years to come.

Palm House Gardens Wedding – Ayla & Drew

Ayla and Drew’s intimate wedding was nestled in the heart of Adelaide’s enchanting Botanic Gardens, specifically at the Palm House Gardens. Amidst the natural beauty of this iconic Adelaide location, their wedding stood out for its unique gothic flair. The usual large-scale affair was gracefully scaled down due to unforeseen circumstances, yet the joy and love remained magnified.

Ayla and Drew’s choice to celebrate at the Palm House Gardens, a gem in the northern section of the Botanic Gardens, couldn’t have been more perfect. The contrast between the gothic elements of their decor, featuring intriguing skulls and stunning black dresses, against the lush, green backdrop of the gardens, created a visually striking palette. Despite the overcast weather, the couple’s radiant smiles and evident affection for each other brightened every moment, making my job as an Adelaide photographer a delightful experience.

Palm House Gardens Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was nothing short of magical. Set against the whimsical backdrop of Palm House Gardens, Ayla and Drew exchanged vows that were heartfelt and deeply personal. The intimate setting of the ceremony, surrounded by the natural splendor of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, added a layer of serenity and romance to their exchange. Each word of their vows resonated with the sincerity and depth of their commitment, making it a truly memorable moment for everyone present.

As they promised each other a lifetime of love and support, the cloudy skies seemed to echo the solemnity and depth of the occasion. The gothic theme, with its elegant dark tones, creating a unique and captivating ambiance. Their ceremony, a beautiful blend of traditional romance and contemporary style, perfectly encapsulated the essence of a modern fairy tale wedding in Adelaide.

Botanic Gardens Glamour Photos

Following the ceremony, we embarked on what I like to call a ‘whirlwind photography tour’ around the Botanic Gardens. With only two hours to capture the essence of Ayla and Drew’s wedding day, we strolled through the verdant landscapes, finding picture-perfect spots at every turn. The gardens, with their diverse flora and beautifully landscaped areas, provided a stunning backdrop for our glamour photoshoot.

The challenge of the day was working around the ongoing Illuminate Adelaide festival. The presence of black boxes scattered throughout the gardens required a bit of creative photography and some post-production magic. However, this didn’t deter us from capturing the beauty and romance of the day. The photos turned out spectacular, each one telling a story of love, joy, and the enchanting setting of the Botanic Gardens.

Ayla and Drew’s Palm House Gardens wedding was a beautiful, gothic-inspired celebration of love. Northern Palm Garden Wedding – Nicole & Daryl

Nicole and Daryl’s wedding was an absolute dream come true, held in the enchanting Northern Palm Garden, the northernmost of the nine stunning wedding venues within the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. As soon as I arrived at the venue, after fighting traffic and finding a park on Plane Tree drive, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the serene beauty that surrounded us.

One of the highlights of this particular location is the magnificent gum tree that gracefully stands behind the bridal couple, casting a soft and romantic glow over the entire congregation. It was the perfect backdrop for their heartfelt vows.

As Nicole walked down the aisle, she radiated elegance and beauty, while the excitement and joy in Daryl’s eyes were simply infectious. It was evident that their love for each other was strong and genuine.

Northern Palm Garden Wedding Ceremony

What made Nicole and Daryl’s wedding ceremony truly unique was the beautiful inclusion of their children. As they exchanged vows, they also pledged their love and commitment as a new family unit. It was a heartwarming moment that left not a dry eye in the house. The ceremony itself was filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt speeches from close friends and family.

The sun beamed through the leaves, creating a warm and romantic ambiance for the photographs. The gardens provided the perfect backdrop for capturing the love and joy shared between Nicole and Daryl. Every snapshot captured their genuine happiness, and it was an honor to be part of such a special day.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens Glamour Photos

After the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning autumnal colors that were still on display throughout the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

As we wandered through the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, we discovered hidden gems around every corner. From picturesque walkways adorned with blooming flowers to tranquil ponds reflecting the blue sky and sun above, there was no shortage of breathtaking scenery. Nicole’s flowing wedding gown added a touch of elegance to the vibrant greenery surrounding us, and Daryl looked dashing in his tailored suit. They were a picture-perfect couple, and their love shone through in every photograph.

The Adelaide Botanic Gardens truly offered a magical setting for capturing timeless memories. We laughed, danced, and embraced the joyous atmosphere that surrounded us. It was an incredible experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a more stunning backdrop. As the sun began to set, we knew it was time to continue the celebration at the next part of their special day—the reception.

Prohibition Liquor Co. Wedding Reception

The reception was held at the trendy and laid-back Prohibition Liquor Co., a perfect choice for a couple who wanted their special day to be casual and easygoing. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as guests mingled and enjoyed delicious cocktails. Daryl, being the thoughtful groom that he is, had arranged for an incredibly generous bar tab for the night. It was a wonderful gesture that added an extra layer of enjoyment and celebration to the evening.

The Prohibition Liquor Co. provided a stylish and intimate space for the couple’s reception. The rustic yet modern ambiance perfectly complemented the joyous atmosphere of the evening. The room was filled with laughter, heartfelt speeches, and dancing. Friends and family came together to celebrate the love between Nicole and Daryl, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Northern Palm Garden Wedding – Botanic Gardens – Annabelle & Tom

The Adelaide Botanic Gardens was the setting for Annabelle and Tom’s beautiful wedding which they had travelled from WA for! Their Northern Palm Garden Wedding showcased the closeness of Annabelle and Tom’s family and friends while also having me livestream their ceremony to guests who could not attend due to the COVID pandemic.

Preparation

I began the day with Annabelle and her family being prepared at a house nearby. The atmosphere was laid back and fun filled with the ladies making sure everyone was having some fun with the preparations and dad helping me move their furniture around to get the best angles for shots 🙂

Northern Palm Garden Wedding Ceremony

Annabelle and Tom’s wedding ceremony took place at my favourite of the 9 Botanic Gardens wedding spots available under the large gum tree in what’s called the Northern Palm Garden, which is right by the northern friendship gates with in the northern section of the gardens.

I love this spot due to the huge gum tree that acts as a backdrop to the wedding ceremony where the light of the sun shines through to make for a very nice scene! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t overly sunny for for this Northern Palm Garden wedding ceremony which meant they had to have standby umbrellas for their guests during the ceremony – but thankfully it diddnt rain.

The ceremony itself was a lovely simple affair, full of smiles and family well wishes which was beautiful.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens Photoshoot

After the family photos which we took around the rear of where their Northen Palm Garden wedding ceremony took place we made the most of the wonderfully overcast day to take some glamour photos around the Botanic Gardens. We began at the bridge located behind the Northern Palm Garden, then head down the elm boulevard, avoiding the other weddings that were taking place on the same day, and ending up at Araucarla Avenue where one of the groom’s men – Nick was married and I shot his wedding!

It’s always fun to see couples that I had photographed in the past at other weddings!

South Australian Museum Wedding Reception

Annabelle and Tom held their wedding reception in the grassy area in the old mounted police barracks behind the South Australian Museum. A large marquee was erected to keep everyone warm and out of any weather – which never eventuated. I always find it fun to show people who diddnt know it was there as I feel as though it’s one of the best kept secrets of Adelaide – despite it being completely public space!

The night was fun, with plenty of heartfelt speeches about Annabelle and Tom’s relationship and their life in WA. It was such a great night to be a part of and I’m super pleased I got to make use of the archway towards the wedding ceremony for a biut of a night shot before I left for the night as it turned out to be one of my favourite shots from the day.

Adelaide Botanical Gardens Wedding – Kat & Monty

  • KAT & MONTY

    Adelaide Botanical Gardens Wedding

    Together with brial party

Kat and Monty’s Adelaide Botanical Gardens wedding was supposed to take place at the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens, only to have them forced to change venue the night before due to a catastrophic fire danger alert put out in the Mt Lofty ranges. We had even walked about the Mt Lofty Gardens and sorted out everything we were going to do before hand – only to have it change to the city! It all worked out well though, as thankfully there was my favourite spot in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens free for their ceremony, and despite the whole thing being stressful for the bride and groom, the whole day worked out fantastically 🙂

Adelaide Botanical Gardens Wedding Ceremony

I was asked to be Kat and Monty’s wedding photographer for 3 hours on their day, which allowed me to cover their ceremony at the large tree at the northern end of the Adelaide Botanical Gardens, and then around an hour or so walking about the gardens itself for some glamour shots. As the fire danger had been declared, you could probably imagine the sort of weather we had for the day – super sunny and getting up there in temperature – which was pretty lucky considering that the week leading up to their day the weather hadn’t been great.

Kat and Monty’s ceremony took place without a hitch, and included their two boys, symbolising the coming together of their new family unit. It’s always nice to include any children involved, as it recognises them as also making a commitment as a newly formed family. Was lovely 🙂

Adelaide Botanical Gardens Glamour Photos

After the usual family photos, the bridal party and I went for a bit of a lap of the gardens to take some glamour shots, starting out with the magnificent money-shot of the gardens – the elm walkway. Love those trees that bend over the path to create a magical canopy. I knew it was Kat’s goal to make use of this space for the best images possible as it was one of the saving graces she had from her original choice of holding her wedding ceremony at the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens. The sunny day made this task super awesome 😀 Another request was replicating a shot I took at Ciara and Max’s wedding almost a year earlier of a black and white detail shot of a large tree at the southern end of the gardens. It’s always nice to hear what other’s favourite shots are from my weddings 🙂
