Golding Winery Wedding – Brooke & Cohen

  • Brooke & Cohen

    Golding Winery Wedding

    Stangate house bridge

It was a reasonably overcast day for Brooke and Cohen’s wedding at the Golding Winery in Lobethal, but luckily the rain held off just enough so that we got their ceremony and their glamour photos done before the end of their reception at the Stangate house in Stirling. really the planning that went into Brooke and Cohen’s day couldn’t be more perfect for the weather, having their ceremony reasonably early so that their lunch time reception was hardly affected due to the foresight of the shrewd purchase of a fleet of white awnings that covered the entire congregating for their reception.

Preparation

The day started as it usually does with the preparation photos at the couple’s house where Cohen and his boys were getting ready. The atmosphere was very relaxed with Cohen fussing over table lists, and the different novelty socks each other were wearing 🙂 The trickiest part was putting on their suspenders, which none of the boys had ever worn before 🙂

Brooke and her bridal party were being prepared at a delightful little bed and breakfast called Billy’s Cottage in Hahndorf, complete with a beautiful room with an open fireplace and lush green garden, which provided for a lovely backdrop for their preparation photos :). The girls preparation wasnt running as smoothly as the boys, having crept over their planned departure time by about 20 minutes before I head off to the Golding Winery, but it all worked out fine in the end!

Golding Winery Wedding Ceremony

The Golding Winery is a beautifully situated winery in Lobethal, featuring sweeping vineyards along a sloping hill that can be backdropped with a wonderful sunset on non-cloudy days, it’s grounds also feature a beautiful curated garden and sweeping driveway lined with trees and a large pond. The wedding ceremony location is just off the front of the cellar door, which is a large grassed area, framed with foliage from hedges and other plants. There was a large plastic awning in place for Brooke and Cohen’s wedding due to the threat of rain, and the congregation was covered with umbrellas, but thankfully they weren’t needed. brooke and Cohen had organised two white doors to backdrop their ceremony which framed them as they were saying their vows with each other. It was a lovely spot and the emotions were certainly showing from within the congregation ranks! 🙂

Once the group photo was taken care of, on the driveway in front of their ceremony location using my drone, and the mandatory family photos we first made use of the wonderful Golding Winery grounds, before heading down the road for a photo under the gum tree awning, before heading to the Stangate House gardens before their lunch-time reception was due to start.

Stangate House Wedding Reception

As I said before, everyone was thankful for the last-minute purchase of white awnings to cover the entire reception as towards the end of their reception, the heavens opened and did not stop for the rest of the night. That being said however, several very intense games of jenga were being had and the guests were treated to the stunning Stangate gardens for a good few hours before that happened. 🙂

Ekhidna Winery Wedding – Kelli & Ben

  • Kelli & Ben

    Ekhidna Winery Wedding

    Through the vines

It was a beautiful day for Kelli and Ben’s wedding at the Ekhidna Winery in Mclaren Vale. Their wedding ceremony was a bit later in the day so that, despite me only being with them for 3 hours as their wedding photographer, I was still able to make the most of the amazing light that presented itself during the later periods of the day for some great shots!

Preparation

Kelli and her bridal party were being prepared in the bed and breakfast directly next door to the Ekhidna Winery, so it was a very convenient walk in between the two locations once they were done getting ready for the ceremony. The morning was jovial, with the girls all having a blast as they were getting ready – very little in the way of nerves were visible 🙂

Ekhidna Winery Wedding Ceremony

Ben was standing out the front of the congregation, waiting for the slightly late bridal party having a bit of fun with his entourage of groomsmen. It was great to see the groomsmen making light of the time before the ceremony as it allowed Ben to relax a bit and help their little boy run about getting the flower petals ready to distribute amongst their guests. The ceremony itself took place overlooking the lovely vineyards out the back of the Ekhidna Winery cellar door, in beautiful mid afternoon light with just a touch of wind which blew the white shawl over the arbour nicely.

Once the whole group photo was done with the drone, we first head back to the bed and breakfast where Kelli was being prepared for some group shots with the whole bridal party – there was some lovely trees there that I wanted to use 🙂 We then head back to use the vineyards and finally drove into Mclaren Vale to utilize the Olive grove along the main street to take a shot I’ve a little bit famous for 🙂

Ekhidna Winery Wedding Reception

Once the glamour shots were done, we head back to the Winery for Kelli and Ben’s reception where we did the group family photos and generally had a nice party! I noticed however that there was a stunning sunset brewing, so luckily I was able to draw Kelli and Ben outside for a bit to utilize it! Using the drone and getting above the Ekhidna winery vineyards always creates a special shot and it’s a huge drawcard for the venue.

St Francis Winery Wedding – Molly & Ian

St Francis Winery Wedding – Molly & Ian

I had been looking forward to covering Molly and Ian’s wedding at the St Francis Winery ever since shooting their engagement photos in the city about a year prior. I was also asked to build them an RSVP website, which was a good way to keep in contact all throughout the wedding planning in between. The day was a super sunny, bright, beautiful day which translated into a love-filled celebration of the wedding of Molly and Ian 🙂

Preparation

One of the great things about most of the weddings I’ve covered at the St Francis Winery is that both the bride and groom are staying on site and are prepared in separate rooms, so I’m able to flit in between rooms to take photos of them both being prepared at the same time. Both Molly and Ian were fairly laiud back in their preparation, with fun events like Molly’s small gift to ian being an exploding card, and of course running after the less than co-operative kidlets 🙂

St Francis Winery Wedding Ceremony

Molly and Ian wisely opted to move the location of their wedding ceremony into a small – shaded area closer to the buildings of the winery as standing out in the sun for the duration of their ceremony would not have been fun. The ceremony was short and sweet, and culminated in a barrage of confetti thrown by the guests.

As I usually do, I made use of the incredible weeping willow trees surrounding the duck lake within the winery’s grounds, and as the sun was beating down, tried to make the most of it’s rays shing through the foliage.

St Francis Winery Reception

To finish up the day, Molly and Ian’s wedding reception took place on site within the St Francis Winery reception hall, with the end section used as the dancefloor. The end section is great for the first dance dry ice as the walled off area allows for a lovely carpet of mist – makes it quite beautiful.

Chateau Tanunda Wedding – Libby & Simon

  • Brooke & Cohen

    Golding Winery Wedding

    Stangate house bridge

Libby and Simon returned form their home in Texas, USA to celebrate their wedding day at the Chateau Tanunda with friends and family living in South Australia. Both their families were spread out around the globe, so it was wonderful to witness the coming together of these two lovely families 🙂 I was asked to be their wedding photographer for the majority of their day, seeing me at Libby’s place of preparation, through to the first dance at their reception.

Preparation

I was asked to start the day with Libby and her bridal party preparation at a nearby bed and breakfast in Tanunda. All morning there was the bustle of activity as each bridesmaid, flower girl and a few other family members all used the large, old cottage as a base of operations 🙂 The house featured a large, open lounge room, complete with a wonderful bay window, perfect for bridal preparation photos.

An interesting side not for the day was that I was contacted by Raw Cotton Collection, a clutch bag manufacturer based in Perth, through Instagram to give Libby and her flowergirls a free clutch and bags in exchange for some photos with the girls, was a fun little side note 🙂

Chateau Tanunda Wedding Ceremony

The Chateau Tanunda has been a feature of the Barossa Valley since the 1880s, being built near vineyards that were planted in 1840s, it’s a historic place that makes for a wonderful backdrop for a wedding! Libby and Simon’s wedding ceremony took place in a long, thin function hall/chapel on the far left of the Chateau which featured some wonderful wooden slat ceilings and large windows overlooking a grassy croquet field.

Directly after the ceremony, Libby, Simon and I escaped in their MG getaway car and used the surrounding beauty that is the Chateau Tanunda grounds. First making use of the picturesque driveway through the vineyards towards the Chateau, then behind the building in a small park situated beyond a disused train line. The sun was setting beautifully for some nice sun flare coming through the trees. We were also lucky enough to utilise the wine barrels in the large tasting room for the winery.

Chateau Tanunda Wedding Reception

The venue boasts a huge reception hall, big enough for Libby and Simon’s wedding reception guests twice over, which made the dance floor quite large! As it was a chilly night, being the beginning of May, their were plenty of gas-fired heaters throughout the room to keep guests warm.
