2017 ABIA Bridal Awards – Photographer of the year finalist

September 28, 2017/in News & Events, Awards, Wedding

I’m pleased to announce that SvenStudios were a finalist of the recent Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) South Australian Awards on Tuesday. In addition to being a finalist in the 2017 ABIA Bridal Awards, I also just missed out on a podium finish, finishing 4th in the state. You can view all the results for all vendors – not just photographers on the ABIA website.

The way the ABIA awards work is actually quite unique; previous clients of each supplier are asked to rate each aspect of the supplier’s service out of 100, and from an aggregate score of all previous scores, ABIA determines if they would be eligible for an award at their Award night. Thanks to all my previous couples who nominated SvenStudios for these awards, because of you SvenStudios scored an amazing 98.68% perfection score! it’s because of this unique method of determining winners of awards that the ABIA Awards are often compared with the Logies of the wedding industry. This year I have also had success in winning a National Photographer of the year title with the AIPP – another professional organisation I belong to – but their awards system is based solely on the professional qualities of images I produce.

With these recent awards, I’m so happy to say that SvenStudios really is the complete package when it comes to wedding photography – being in the top 4 wedding photographers at the 2017 ABIA Bridal Awards judged on clients experience, and an AIPP photographer of the year title for technical ability.

In my never ending quest to provide the best possible wedding photographer services in Adelaide, I align myself with relevant organisations that best represent what SvenStudios is all about. These organisations include the AIPP – or the Australian Institute for Professional photographers and ABIA – the Australian Bridal Industry Academy. The former is solely to do with professional development in creating industry-standard imagery and the latter is all about client relations – or how previous brides have felt dealing with my business.

InglewoodInn Wedding – Hannah & James

    InglewoodInn Wedding

Hannah and James’ wedding took place at the InglewoodInn on a rather chilly day at the tail end of winter. It was a beautiful day otherwise as the day was full of loving family and friends gathered to celebrate a wonderful couple. They asked me to be their wedding photographer utilising my flexible hourly service so that I was there to cover their wedding ceremony and most of their reception. Their entire day was planned to take place on and around the grounds of the InglewoodInn which was fantastic as it made the day lovely and laid back with little that could go wrong 🙂

Before the ceremony

I arrived around an hour before the wedding ceremony was to begin, so I wandered about taking shots of the boys chatting, enjoying a few beverages and chatting over their Subarus. James was only showing slight nerves, running about keeping busy and greeting guests, but the whole affair was reasonably laid back and an air of fun was lingering over the whole scene.

InglewoodInn Wedding Ceremony

Once Hannah arrived at the InglewoodInn in her own Subaru, and she made her way down the steep driveway, their simple wedding ceremony took place. Apparently their arbour was decorated with Ikea-bought trimmings which I thought were pretty awesome.

After the wedding ceremony we wandered about the grounds of InglewoodInn that at this time of year boasts a pretty running stream along with a stunning old bridge at the very edge of their curated garden. Unfortunately this time of year the usually stunning green foliage of the oak trees had fallen, but the bare trees have an appeal of their own. We also head up the road a bit to make use of a dilapidated old cottage which I’m a big fan of.

InglewoodInn Wedding Reception

I had a wonderful time at Hannah and Jame’s wedding reception, chatting to the people on the table I was sat at. I’d like to thank hannah and James for really treating me as a guest! It’s one reason why I love doing what I do, I meet some amazingly interesting people and have a blast :). One fun thing  was the fact that they had organised a smoke machine for their first dance and they gave me the control so I could set the smoke while I was taking photos.

Molly & Ian

South Terrace Engagement

Molly and Ian had booked me for their South Terrace Engagement shoot a while back, but were thwarted by bad weather for a couple of weeks before we finally met up. The day we did meet up wasn’t really much better, with the temperature on the chilly side, and the heavens continually threatening to open up on us. That being the case however, Molly and Ian’s demeanor was fun and bubbly all throughout their shoot which made it a whole lot of fun!

After meeting in front of  Himeji Gardens where we spent around 30 minutes taking photos within the gardens, we head over to Veal gardens just up the road where we walked a lap of the area.

Here’s a small preview of some of their photos taken on the day, and I’m looking forward to their wedding even more now at the St Francis Winery next September!
