Whelp, that’s another year done and dusted – and what a year it’s been! 2019 has been the busiest year so far since registering for an ABN back in 2013, and as this was the second full year I’ve relied on my photography as a full time job, it’s fantastic and 2020 is looking to be even bigger!
2019 Weddings
Weddings covered
I have covered 37 weddings in 2019 – that’s 11 more than the 26 weddings I covered in 2018, or an increase of 42% in weddings I covered this year. This is on top of another 12 clients where I was taking photos of their newborn babies, or having the SvenStudios photobooth at their weddings or parties. This makes a total of 49 clients throughout the year and I cannot thank everyone enough to supporting what I love doing! 😀
As I write this, I still have 1 more wedding to cover tonight, as a New years eve wedding, and I have 5 more that I still need to edit. The plan is to have them all done by mid-late February in order to begin my annual photo of the year contest – which I’ll organise closer to the date. It looks like I’m running a little late with editing – stretching my usual 1 month turnaround time to 2 – sorry to those of you waiting for your weddings to be done! I’ve had 10 weddings in November and December – it’s been insane.
If you had me photograph your wedding within 2019 and you’re reading this, I’ll be sending you an email soonish asking for your favourite photo from your whole album in order to put it to a vote on the internet to find the 2019 photo of the year.
2019 Previews
Destination Weddings
In 2019 I covered my first international destination wedding in Santorini, Greece – which was pretty darn awesome! I flew over and had a bit of a holiday with my family in Italy and Greece while there, and took some amazing shots at the wedding! I’m looking forward to heading to Fiji in 2020 for my second international destination wedding.
I also covered 2 interstate weddings in Darwin, with a further 4 booked in 2020 – June and July are going to be super busy for me jetsetting all over the place! It’s going to be awesome 😀 As of right now I currently have 27 weddings already booked in 2020, with 5 of them not in South Australia.

Newborn Photography
Since the birth of my own little one, I’ve been keen on building my portfolio of newborn photography, so I’ve been spending some time this year building out a bit of a portfolio showcasing some newborn baby photography. I’ll be expanding my business in 2020 a little bit more to better incorporate this side of my business so look out for that!
Awards won
As part of my contined dedication to bettering myself by challenging for awards related to my photography, I again have come away with a swathe of awards during the year. The first being the runner up photobooth supplier in the whole of South Australia with ABIA (Australian bridal institute of Australia) I was also in the top 5 photographers in the state. The great thing about the ABIA awards are that they aren’t necessarily awarded to the ‘best’, or most skilled supplier – but rather the reviews recieved from actual past clients. It’s quite an interesting way to do it, and lets me know that my previous bridal couples enjoyed my service enough to review me highly – which is great!

I also managed to attain the status of duel master photographer with the AIPP – which is determined by photographic skill as judged by photographer peers. This means I’ve been successful with both my clients and peer professional photographers which is neat 🙂 At the AIPP national awards I won 3 silver awards and a single silver with distinction, while at the AIPP state awards I came away with 3 silver awards.
Aside from these big institutions which I enter awards for each year, I also won minor recognition with 5th place nationally in the Capture Magazine’s Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers contest in the Art category. While also being a nominee in the 6th Annual Fine Art Photography Awards.
Looking forward to 2020
As I mentioned earlier, 2020 is looking like it’s going to be as hectic as 2019, if not more so with 27 weddings already booked, including 5 destination weddings. other than this, I always plan on doing something each year different to the last and the first of these things will be my attendance at my first proper Wedding Expo in the upcoming Adelaide Wedding Chit Chat Expo on the 12th of January at the Woodville Town Hall. Would be great to see you there! I’ll be showcasing my unique 360 virtual reality service while also being in person to have a face to face chat about how I work!
Other than that I also plan on building out my services website, including my unfinished https://adelaideweddingvenues.com website where you can search for your perfect wedding venue in South Australia by price, or function, and others. Very similar to what I offer on this page, under venues, but a little more indepth!
Here’s to an amazing 2020 and I’m super excited for another super successful year!
