Baby Walker – Flinders Medical Center Newborn Photography

Welcoming a newborn is a truly magical experience, and capturing those early moments is incredibly special. I recently had the honor of photographing baby Walker during his Flinders Medical Center newborn photography session. His proud mum, Nikita, reached out for a quick shoot to preserve these fleeting first days. Being based in Aberfoyle Park, it was a quick and easy trip to the hospital, and I was thrilled to meet this adorable little one.

Walker’s session was held right in their hospital room, creating an intimate and personal atmosphere. Newborn hospital photoshoots have a unique charm. They capture not only the baby’s first days but also the environment where their first chapter began. Flinders Medical Center provides a soft, natural light near the large windows, perfect for timeless portraits. With Walker peacefully resting in his parents’ arms, we created images that will be treasured forever.

Baby Walker

Walker is an absolute heart-stealer. His tiny hands, delicate eyelashes, and those little booties he wore made him look even more precious. Those booties were particularly special because they carried a story; they had been worn by his two older brothers when they were newborns, adding a sentimental touch to the shoot. The generational connection made these photos even more meaningful for the family.

One of the most endearing details about Walker is his cleft lip, a feature that adds so much character to his tiny face. It’s a beautiful reminder of his unique story. Capturing him as he is—a perfect, beloved little soul—was incredibly rewarding. His calm demeanor made photographing him a dream, and when we managed to catch a fleeting smile, it felt like magic frozen in time.

Flinders Medical Center Newborn Photography

Newborn photography at Flinders Medical Center is a service I’m thrilled to offer. Hospitals often hold such a special place in families’ hearts, as they’re the setting of those first precious days together. Nikita mentioned she was surprised that Flinders Hospital no longer offers an in-house photography service. This makes personal sessions like these even more valuable for capturing memories.

Being based just a stone’s throw away, I can easily pop over to Flinders Medical Center for quick sessions like Walker’s. Hospital newborn shoots are different from studio sessions—they’re raw, real, and filled with unfiltered emotion. The environment captures not just the baby but the whole experience of becoming a family, making each image a cherished piece of their journey.

Wendy and her extended family gathered in Adelaide for a festive celebration, and what better way to commemorate it than with a lively family photoshoot? With half the group traveling all the way from Canada, they were eager to embrace a slice of South Australia’s natural charm. Their chosen location, the Littlehampton Train Tunnel, offered a unique blend of history, adventure, and lush scenery—perfect for this fun-loving group.

Located near Mount Barker, this hidden gem boasts an old, unused train track weaving through a picturesque tunnel under the Princes Highway. Surrounded by greenery, it’s a serene yet playful spot that comes alive during the festive season. Early morning light streamed through the trees as we began the session, avoiding the day’s heat and creating the ideal conditions for stunning photos. This family was up for anything, from playful poses to heartwarming moments, ensuring every shot was filled with joy and personality.

Finding the Perfect Location

When Wendy reached out to plan her family photoshoot, we explored several beautiful options near Mount Barker. From the charming park behind Auchendarroch House to the stunning Kuitpo Forest, there were plenty of possibilities. However, the Littlehampton Train Tunnel stood out as the ideal choice. The blend of rustic tracks, towering trees, and the intriguing tunnel made it both unique and visually striking. It’s a spot that offers something a little different from traditional locations, adding character to any photoshoot.

The tunnel’s history and the adventure of exploring its surroundings made it a hit with the kids and adults alike. It’s not every day you get to stand on an old train track or walk through a tunnel steeped in history. Everyone loved the atmosphere, and the lush greenery framing the space created a vibrant setting that felt alive with possibility. The kids, full of curiosity, instantly started exploring, setting the tone for a relaxed and joyful session.

Capturing Festive Spirit

The photoshoot was also a chance to embrace the festive season. Wendy’s family brought along Christmas props, from Santa hats to sparkly garlands, adding a cheerful touch to the photos. The combination of the rustic train tracks and festive decorations created a charming contrast, resulting in images that perfectly blended the holiday spirit with the natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills.

One of the most memorable moments came when we commemorated a milestone for one of the boys, who had just graduated from high school. Surrounded by his supportive family, he was all smiles as we captured this special achievement. Moments like these are what make family photoshoots so meaningful. They tell stories that will be cherished for years to come, freezing time in a way that only photography can.

A Celebration Across Continents

With family members visiting from Canada, this session also highlighted the differences between December on opposite sides of the world. While Canada is blanketed in snow and freezing temperatures, Adelaide’s summer warmth was a welcome change for the visitors. The kids marveled at the sunny skies and lush greenery, making the experience all the more memorable. Sharing these contrasting experiences brought everyone closer, adding another layer of meaning to the day.

The Canadian kids especially loved the opportunity to climb trees and search for skinks, activities they don’t often get to do back home. Their excitement was contagious, and soon everyone was joining in, laughing and enjoying the carefree energy that only a family gathering can bring. These candid moments of joy and togetherness are what make outdoor shoots so special.

As the session wound down, the kids found even more ways to make the most of the location. Climbing trees, running along the tracks, and spotting wildlife added a playful end to the morning. It wasn’t just about taking photos—it was about creating memories. By the time we made our way back to the cars, the kids were already recounting their favorite moments, skinks in hand and smiles on their faces.

With just hours to spare before the clock struck Christmas, they made their way from the city to the serene Pine Reserve in Aberfoyle Park. It’s a spot that always feels like a hidden gem during this time of year, with towering trees that echo the grandeur of Christmas itself. When the family shared their plan to fully embrace the holiday spirit with costumes, I couldn’t wait to see their transformation.

Father Christmas Photoshoot

The Pine Reserve in Aberfoyle Park couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop. With its lush greenery and the scent of pine lingering in the air, it’s a photographer’s dream for Christmas-themed shoots. The towering trees framed each shot beautifully, giving the images that storybook holiday feel. It’s no wonder the Tannouss family loved the idea—it was like stepping into a Christmas postcard.

Dad donned a classic Father Christmas outfit, complete with the iconic red suit and snowy beard. Mum sparkled as Mrs. Claus, radiating warmth and holiday joy. The little ones stole the show in their elf costumes, complete with pointy hats and cheeky grins. The effort they put into their outfits was a testament to their festive spirit and added a playful charm to every shot.

Working with kids is always an adventure, and the Tannouss children were no exception. There were giggles, a few grumbles, and moments of absolute mischief. Pt Noarlunga Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot – Jess & Jack

When Jess and Jack first shared their love story with me during our meeting at White Hill Estate, I knew their wedding was going to be one to remember. Their connection was vibrant, and their adventurous spirits were magnetic. As avid free divers, they spoke about their shared love for the ocean, and it wasn’t long before the idea of an underwater wreck the dress shoot came to life. With my own passion for having a fun time behind a camera like this, The day after their wedding, we brought this unique concept to the crystal-clear waters off Pt Noarlunga.

Jess and Jack were game for anything, and their playful energy made this experience unforgettable. Before diving into the ocean, we started with some fun shots along the shoreline. There’s nothing quite like the image of a bride’s gown catching the waves, creating a dramatic, flowing effect that feels almost otherworldly. From splashing through the surf to Jack cheekily scooping Jess up before tossing her into the shallows, it was pure joy captured through the lens.

Beachside Photoshoot

Pt Noarlunga is a treasure for beach photography. Its golden sands and rugged jetty offer a perfect backdrop for candid moments and romantic portraits. As the sun rose, Jess and Jack’s newlywed glow shone even brighter. Their laughter filled the salty air as they played like kids along the water’s edge, their love evident in every glance and touch.

We started with some light-hearted shots to ease into the shoot. Jess’s gown – technically NOT the one she had worn the day earlier, contrasted beautifully against the soft blues and whites of the coastline. Jack was dressed in his full suit however, adding to the romantic vibe of the shoot. The highlight? Capturing the waves fanning out her dress like a mermaid’s tail, a moment that combined elegance with the raw power of nature.

It was actually this shot which I had taken at a previous wreck the dress shoot that prompted Jess and Jack to get in contact and have me shoot their wedding! So any other adventurous souls out there wanting to do something outrageous for your wedding shoot, hit me up!

Pt Noarlunga’s beach setting provided dynamic opportunities for creativity. The interplay of sunlight and water created dazzling reflections, and we used every angle to capture the couple’s chemistry. Whether framed against the expansive sky or the foaming surf, their photos were a celebration of love and freedom.

Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot

Diving into the waters of Pt Noarlunga was the next-level adventure we’d all been waiting for. The sun, which had hidden behind clouds on their wedding day, now shone brightly, illuminating the ocean with clarity and warmth. Still, the water was brisk, so we kept the session short but sweet, ensuring every moment counted. For safety and guidance, I brought along a skilled dive team, including the incredible Diana Fernie, who brought expertise and calm to the shoot.

Underwater shoots are a mix of art and science. Timing, positioning, and lighting are crucial, and Jess and Jack were naturals. They dove effortlessly, their movements slow and dreamlike, giving the camera a chance to capture their underwater waltz. Jess’s wedding gown—altered slightly for practicality—moved like liquid poetry, enhanced subtly in post-production to recreate the sweeping elegance of her wedding day dress.

Wreck-the-dress shoots are about more than just photos—they’re about capturing the essence of a couple’s journey. For Jess and Jack, the ocean is their shared sanctuary, a place where they’ve built countless memories together. To bring their wedding celebration into this environment was deeply meaningful, and it showed in every shot. Their love was playful yet profound, adventurous yet anchored, and this shoot reflected it all.

The session wrapped up with both exhilaration and relief as we climbed back onto the shore. Jess and Jack were shivering but smiling, thrilled by the experience. While the water had been chilly, the warmth of their connection radiated through every image. They thanked the dive team and myself for helping bring their dream to life, but truthfully, it was my honor to work with such a bold and inspiring couple.

The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot – Sam & Wayne

Sam and Wayne’s The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot was nothing short of magical! As a photographer who’s shot around 10 weddings here this year alone, I know every nook and cranny of this historic castle-like venue. But this shoot had something special—a quiet, almost serene atmosphere as Sam and Wayne had booked a room for a public holiday. With no weddings on that day, they had the entire place to themselves, creating a uniquely intimate experience for their engagement photos.

It’s rare to see The Manor so quiet. Usually, it’s bustling with wedding guests, vendors, and celebrations, but on this day, it felt like their own private castle. The only slight hiccup was not being able to fully access the iconic Romeo and Juliet balcony. But with a bit of clever positioning and perhaps a little post-editing magic, we still captured stunning moments that made it feel as if the whole venue was at their disposal. The weather played along perfectly, too, with a soft golden light filtering through the clouds, giving us that dreamy, glowing backdrop photographers love!

Taking Advantage of Golden Hour

We started the shoot in one of my favourite spots at The Manor—behind the chapel in the garden. The sunlight was at just the right angle, peeking through the trees and casting a warm, golden glow over the couple. The way Sam and Wayne looked at each other, bathed in that soft light, was pure magic. You could feel their connection through the camera. It’s moments like these that make engagement photography so rewarding.

After soaking up the garden vibes, we wandered towards the front of the castle. The grand stone architecture framed Sam and Wayne perfectly, making them look like royalty for a day. The timing couldn’t have been better—the sun continued to dance between clouds, casting everything in a light that photographers dream about. Sam’s smile, Wayne’s relaxed demeanor—they were a perfect fit for this timeless location.

A Picturesque Stroll Through The Orchard

Next on our agenda was a stop at The Manor’s orchard, which was in full bloom. The pops of fresh white blossoms against the deep greenery made for some incredibly romantic photos. Sam was absolutely glowing in her dress as she walked through the rows of trees hand-in-hand with Wayne. The atmosphere was calm, almost ethereal, and you could feel the love and anticipation for their future wedding.

Sam and Wayne were naturals in front of the camera, needing very little direction. Their joy and love for each other shone through every shot. The blooming orchard not only provided a stunning visual backdrop but also added a sense of fresh beginnings—perfect for an engagement shoot. And with Wayne making Sam laugh between shots, it was easy to capture their candid moments that truly tell the story of their relationship.

A Dramatic Outfit Change: The Black Dress

After spending some time in the orchard, Sam did a quick change into a striking black dress, bringing a whole new vibe to the shoot. The contrast between the classic, soft colors of the surroundings and her bold outfit choice made for some dramatic and memorable shots. The Manor’s stone walls and grand architecture created the perfect setting for this darker, more modern look.

We used the castle’s winding staircases, stone archways, and shadowy corners to capture a different side of Sam and Wayne’s personalities. The black dress added an element of sophistication and mystery to the photos, contrasting beautifully with the more casual, joyful vibe from earlier in the day. Sam’s confidence in this outfit was radiant, and Wayne couldn’t keep his eyes off her!
