Arriving at the Penfolds Grange Cottage, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the setting. The historic cottage, with its rustic charm, stood proudly amid rows of blossoming trees. These trees, either cherry blossoms or almond trees, were in full bloom, their delicate pink and white petals fluttering in the gentle breeze. Emily and James’ wedding was one of those special days where every element came together beautifully, despite the winter chill that tried to sneak in. The church, located just off Victoria Square in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD, provided the perfect setting for their union. After the ceremony, we made our way to the new area of the Adelaide Railway Station for a quick photo session. This spot was a brilliant contrast to the historic beauty of the Pilgrim Uniting Church. The modern, curvy lines of the station’s architecture provided a sleek and stylish backdrop for Emily and James’ portraits. The juxtaposition of the contemporary design with the couple’s classic wedding attire made for some truly striking images. The station, with its mix of old and new, reflected the couple’s journey – a blend of tradition and modernity, grounded in history but looking forward to the future.

Next, we headed to one of Adelaide’s hidden gems – the Mortlock Wing of the State Library. This space is nothing short of enchanting. Walking into the Mortlock Library feels like stepping into a different era, with its dark wood paneling, grand staircases, and rows upon rows of ancient books. The library’s ambiance is reminiscent of a scene from a Harry Potter film, and it provided a dramatic and unique setting for Emily and James’ photos. Bowden, with its blend of urban edge and leafy surroundings, offers the perfect backdrop for capturing those cherished moments. When I was invited to photograph this lovely family, I knew that this shoot would be a beautiful blend of intimacy, love, and a touch of Bowden’s distinctive flair.

The family was celebrating a significant moment – the coming together of their tight-knit group for the celebration of the grandparent’s anniversary! What better way to commemorate this occasion than with a photoshoot that not only captures their bond but also showcases the eclectic beauty of Bowden?

As a photographer, it’s always a pleasure to work in such a diverse location, where every corner offers something unique. The plan was simple: start indoors to take advantage of the cozy apartment setting, then move outside to embrace the natural elements in front of Plant 4, a well-loved spot in Bowden.

Inside Photoshoot

Inside their Bowden apartment, we made the most of the environment. The grey curtains provided a soft, neutral backdrop, ideal for capturing the warmth of the family interactions without any distractions.

We rearranged the space a bit, moving the sofa to create an open area perfect for group shots. The children were at the heart of it all, their energy filling the room with laughter and playfulness. The grandparents, who were just as excited as the little ones, didn’t miss a beat. They were constantly picking up the children, playing games, and sharing sweet moments that were an absolute joy to capture. The indoor setting allowed for these interactions to shine, focusing on the familial bonds without any outside interference.

Bowden Family Photography in front of Plant 4

As the rain eased into a light sprinkle, we decided to brave the outdoors and head to the iconic Plant 4.

The children were thrilled to be outside, their excitement palpable as they ran around on the grassy area in front of Plant 4. This open space allowed them to be themselves – playful, carefree, and full of life. The grandparents, ever doting, joined in the fun, their laughter mixing with the children’s as they all enjoyed the moment together. The interaction between the generations was a joy to photograph, showcasing the deep bonds that hold this family together.

The cherry blossoms nearby added a touch of magic to the shoot. Their delicate pink petals contrasted beautifully with the industrial backdrop of Plant 4, creating a scene that was both urban and natural. The blossoms served as a gentle reminder of the fleeting beauty of moments, much like the ones we were capturing that day. The family’s happiness was contagious, their smiles and laughter echoing in the space as we took group photos and candid shots alike.

Despite the less-than-perfect weather, the photoshoot turned out to be a wonderful experience. The drizzle added a soft, almost cinematic quality to the outdoor shots, while the indoor portion allowed us to capture the warmth and closeness of the family. Bowden, with its unique mix of old and new, provided the perfect backdrop for this special family session. Every corner of this neighborhood offered something different, from the cozy apartment setting to the dynamic Plant 4 area, making this Bowden family photography session one for the books.

The Manor Wedding in Basket Range – Jasmine & Rikki

Celebrating love amidst the enchanting backdrop of The Manor in Basket Range is always a magical experience. Jasmine and Rikki’s wedding day might have started with a bit of rain, but that only added to the charm and intimacy of their beautiful celebration. Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, The Manor provided the perfect setting for a memorable wedding day, even with the weather’s little surprises.

Jasmine and Rikki’s wedding was initially planned to take place in front of the charming little chapel on site. However, with the rain coming down, a last-minute change saw the ceremony moved to the undercover area in front of the smaller function room on the lower level. This adjustment didn’t dampen the spirits one bit; instead, it brought everyone closer together, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that was simply perfect for such a special occasion.

Preparation

The day began with a buzz of excitement as both Jasmine and Rikki prepared on site. Rikki and his groomsmen occupied the small room at the end of the complex, exuding a laid-back vibe as they got ready. Their main focus was getting the photos done swiftly so they could relax and enjoy the day. Dressed to impress, they laughed and shared stories, setting a light-hearted tone for the day ahead.

Meanwhile, Jasmine and her entourage were upstairs above the main doors, filling the air with laughter and joy. The bride and her bridesmaids indulged in some fun and silliness, making the preparation time a delightful prelude to the ceremony. Jasmine, radiant in her wedding gown, was the picture of happiness, despite a tinge of disappointment about not having the ceremony in front of the chapel. Nonetheless, her positive spirit shone through, and she embraced the day with grace and excitement.

The Manor Wedding in Basket Range

The Manor in Basket Range is nothing short of a fairytale venue. Even with the rain, its beauty was undeniable, adding a mystical touch to Jasmine and Rikki’s wedding.

Jasmine’s first look with her father in the castle’s lobby was a heartwarming moment, filled with emotion and love. This intimate moment between father and daughter set the stage for the beautiful ceremony that followed. As Jasmine walked down the aisle, the love and admiration in Rikki’s eyes were palpable. Their vows were heartfelt and touching, a testament to their deep connection and commitment to one another.

Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests made their way to the front of the main castle keep for the petal toss and group photos. The rain held off just long enough for these special moments, allowing everyone to capture some beautiful memories before retreating back into the warmth of the ceremony area.

Glamour Photos

With the rain looming, we set off on a quick tour of The Manor’s stunning grounds for the glamour photos. Jasmine and Rikki, along with their bridal party, navigated the gardens with ease, making the most of the beautiful surroundings. The gardens behind the small chapel provided a lovely backdrop for some truly enchanting shots.

As the day turned to night, we ventured back out for some dramatic photos in front of the castle keep. The use of smoke added a mystical element to the images, capturing the essence of the venue and the couple’s unique love story. Just as we wrapped up, the heavens opened, but by then, we had already captured the magic of the day.

The reception was a warm and intimate affair, perfectly suited to the cozy, rainy day. Held in the function room where the ceremony took place, the atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, and the clinking of glasses. The speeches were heartfelt, reflecting the close bonds between family and friends who had gathered to celebrate Jasmine and Rikki’s love.

Everyone was eager to ensure that this lovely couple had a glorious night, and the evening flowed with ease and joy. The food was delectable, and the company even better, creating an ambiance of warmth and happiness. Jasmine and Rikki’s first dance was a highlight, showcasing their deep connection and setting the tone for a night of celebration and fun.
