Sunnybrae Estate is one of those Adelaide venues that really shines with a late afternoon ceremony. The light there glows in a way that makes everyone look like they’re living inside a romantic movie. Add in two people like Jess and Cam, who have so much personality and presence, and you’ve got the recipe for a standout day. The whole estate was buzzing with excitement, from the getting ready moments right through to the last song on the dancefloor.
Preparation
Cam was all energy and cheekiness when I met up with him at a Glenelg bed and breakfast. It was clear from the start that he was ready to lean into the day and have a blast. As a sports announcer, he was 100% in his element when he and his groomsmen did a mock “stadium walk-in” like a team entering the field. Complete with commentary and dramatic gestures, it was as hilarious as it was totally on-brand.
His family’s cricketing legacy didn’t go unnoticed—subtle nods throughout the morning, some banter between the boys, and those sporty touches made the whole vibe feel so Cam. The love heart sunnies made an early appearance and set the tone for some seriously silly, joyful photos. From tying ties backwards to impromptu backyard warm-up stretches, this crew knew how to keep it light. Honestly, it was hard to put the camera down with all the moments unfolding so naturally.

Meanwhile, Jess was getting ready just a few streets over at her parents’ house—and wow, what a vibe. First Look
There’s always something special about a first look with a parent, and Jess’s moment with her dad in their backyard was tender and teary in the best way. We made our way to Crozier Street for the bridal party shoot, and what a dream this group was to photograph. Tucked amongst the weathered red bricks and rusted textures of historic industrial buildings, they were game for absolutely anything. A quick redirection and we were all reunited at a gorgeous little Parkside spot, ready for some relaxed and fun family photos.
The newest star of the shoot? Their adorable baby boy—snuggled up in the coziest outfit, complete with a tiny beanie that was almost too cute to handle. Even though the breeze had a bit of a bite, he was toasty and content, surrounded by doting parents and grandparents. The autumn leaves were just starting to carpet the grass, so we made the most of the golden tones. After scouting a lovely open area in Parkside, we settled in for the shoot. It’s amazing how just a few trees in the right light can feel like you’re in the middle of a magical woodland scene. The little guy wasn’t quite old enough to sit on his own yet, but with a bit of clever camera trickery (and some Photoshop wizardry later on), I made it look like he was having his own mini moment perched among the leaves.
Group photos are always a must in sessions like this—every combo imaginable! Grandparents with the baby, parents with the baby, siblings, couples, whole family together—each one capturing a slightly different connection. I like to keep the pace easy and natural, giving everyone space to be themselves. Even if not everyone loves the camera, there’s always a way to coax out the real smiles. And Cristina’s family? We snapped a few quick shots with the grandparents before they wisely decided to head home—it was getting a bit chilly, and they’d braved enough of the fresh air to last a week. As the session wound down, there was one last family member to include: the dog! I always love when families bring their pets along—it just adds another layer of personality to the shoot. This pup was more than happy to make a cameo. Tail wagging, curious sniffs, and a few enthusiastic zoomies later, we got a handful of sweet shots of the whole crew together.

Kaleb had seen one of my previous proposal shoots at Thorngrove Manor and reached out, full of ideas, excitement, and nerves (all the best ingredients for a great proposal). While Thorngrove initially had his heart, he eventually settled on The Manor Basket Range, drawn in by its regal stonework and that fountain that looks like it belongs in a romance novel.
After a few back-and-forth chats, we picked a quiet Friday afternoon – no wedding booked, no crowds (well, almost). The plan was in place: Kaleb would get down on one knee in front of the fountain, with the grand castle keep towering just behind them. The timing? Just right. The light was soft, the weather was playing nice, and the anticipation was real. I’d tucked myself out of sight like a photography ninja, waiting for the moment, heart thumping almost as hard as his probably was.
The Manor Basket Range Proposal
Now, as calm as everything looks in the final photos, there’s always a bit of chaos behind the scenes – and that’s half the fun. Just before Kaleb made his move, a handful of random folks wandered out of the manor. Turns out they were prepping for a wedding happening the next day and had zero idea they were about to photobomb a life-changing moment. One couple even took a casual loop around the fountain right before the big question – you truly can’t plan this stuff. But Kaleb kept his cool like a pro, waited for the perfect moment, and dropped to one knee just as the coast cleared.
And Mel’s reaction? Immediate joy. She said yes with the kind of happy disbelief that makes your cheeks hurt from smiling. No hesitation, just pure excitement and love. Once the proposal nerves had settled and the ring was firmly on Mel’s finger (with a whole lot of admiring from all angles), we wandered off to explore the grounds. Next stop: the always-beautiful Adelaide Botanic Gardens. I love whisking couples away here for a quick session – there’s just so much variety, and it’s all so dreamy. The sunlight was slicing perfectly through the tree canopies, giving us that soft golden glow every photographer secretly dreams of.
We zipped through some of my favourite garden spots, taking full advantage of the arches, ferns, and winding paths. The whole shoot felt like an impromptu adventure – no pressure, just fun. Diaz had the biggest smile every time Colin whispered something in her ear, and he couldn’t stop looking at her like she was the only person in the world. The Botanic Gardens is always a bit of a love story itself. Between the glasshouse reflections, shady pockets of green, and bursts of colour from flowering plants, we created a gallery full of vibrant, romantic moments. You’d never guess from the photos that it all happened in under an hour – we really flew through it, but with so much ease. That’s the magic of a chilled-out couple who are just happy to be married and soaking it all in.
Jen and Craig infused the elegance of the Adelaide Hills with a splash of Scottish spirit, creating a wedding day that was equal parts heartwarming and highland. Craig spent the morning at their home in Adelaide’s leafy east, surrounded by his groomsmen. The vibe was relaxed but joyful as the lads suited up in traditional Scottish attire.
