Our Lady of the Rosary Church Wedding – Lorraine & Wayne

Lorraine and Wayne’s wedding was a day filled with love, joy, and beautiful moments. They chose to tie the knot at the charming Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Prospect, a picturesque suburb just north of the bustling Adelaide CBD. The church’s interior, with its elegant stained glass windows and stunning altar, provided the perfect backdrop for their special day.

As an Adelaide wedding photographer with 17 years of experience, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many unique moments, but Lorraine and Wayne surprised me with something I’m surprised I hadn’t witnessed until now! The couple decided to release doves in front of the church. It was a symbolic gesture that added a touch of magic and beauty to their union.

Witnessing this enchanting display was a first for me, and it left a lasting impression on everyone present.

Our Lady of the Rosary Church Wedding Ceremony

The Our Lady of the Rosary Church wedding ceremony was a reflection of Lorraine and Wayne’s deep-rooted faith and commitment to each other. They opted to host a full Catholic mass, allowing their loved ones to partake in their spiritual journey as they exchanged vows. The atmosphere was reverent yet filled with an unmistakable sense of joy and anticipation.

As the church doors swung open, Lorraine glided down the aisle, radiating elegance and happiness. Wayne’s eyes glistened with tears of joy as he caught his first glimpse of his beautiful bride. The intimate ceremony was punctuated by heartfelt readings, beautiful harp-accompanied hymns, and a meaningful sermon that reminded us all of the power of love and unity.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens Glamour Photos

Following the ceremony, we embarked on a picturesque adventure to the enchanting Adelaide Botanic Gardens for glamour photos. The sun danced through the foliage of the trees, casting a warm, golden glow on Lorraine and Wayne. As we strolled through the garden’s pathways, each turn offered a new breathtaking backdrop for their love story.

Amidst the vibrant blooms and lush greenery, I captured their love in candid moments and posed portraits. Lorraine’s eyes sparkled with joy, and Wayne couldn’t stop smiling, his adoration for his new wife evident in every frame. The Adelaide Botanic Gardens provided a romantic and timeless setting for their glamorous photos, leaving us all in awe of nature’s beauty.

Regency Tavern Wedding reception

The festivities continued as we made our way to the Regency Tavern for Lorraine and Wayne’s wedding reception. The venue’s enclosed open-air section at the back of the establishment set the stage for an evening filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and dancing. The ambiance was electric, and the love in the air was palpable.

Lorraine and Wayne’s entrance was met with cheers and applause from their family and friends, who were eager to celebrate their union. The reception space was elegantly decorated, with twinkling lights and tastefully arranged floral centerpieces that complemented the couple’s chosen theme.

Although my time at the reception was brief, I had the opportunity to capture a moment that will forever hold a special place in Lorraine and Wayne’s hearts. The cutting of the cake was a moment of pure delight, with their laughter echoing through the venue. As everyone gathered for a group photo, their smiles and camaraderie showcased the bonds of love and friendship that had come together to celebrate this extraordinary day.

St Francis Xaviers Cathedral Wedding – Sash & Dan

Sash and Dan’s St Francis Xaviers Cathedral Wedding was the last wedding of 2022 for me, and what a wedding it was too! taking place in one of the more beautiful Cathedrals the city of churches has to offer the weatehr was wonderful and the people involved even more so!

Preparation

Sash and Dan had organised their wedding very well, choosing accomodation nearby their reception venue of Ayers House so that they have a short walk back to their hotel after their big day – it also meant that we were able to set up their photobooth before heading for their preparation photos quite easily! It was also good as we had quite a bit of video gear to cart around too, and being in the city it can be tricky – but not at Sash and Dan’s wedding!

The rooms in the Crown Plaza are lined by beautiful floor to ceiling windows lined with white skim curtains which makes for a nice backdrop to preparation wedding photos, along with letting in plenty of natural light.

We started by heading up to Dan’s room, only to find that his groomsmen werent coming until a bit later, so we head over to Sash’s room where she was finishing up her makeup.

The whole morning was laid back and fun to be a part of!

St Francis Xaviers Cathedral Wedding Ceremony

The St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, just off of Victoria square is a very impressive building both inside and out with a beautifully gothic aesthetic which sets for an impressive backdrop for a wedding.

One thing that really ‘wowed’ me was the entrance of Sash in the huge double doors at the head of the Cathedral following the procession of her bridal aprty and family members. The doors flew open to reveal her stunning visage which was certainly enough to make Dan shed a tear or two!

Sash and Dan’s St Francis Xaviers Cathedral wedding was a traditional catholic affair with heartfelt vows and family members joining in as sponsors throughout for various reasons such as the laying of a veil over their heads and a wedding lasso rosary.

Something a bit different at Sash and Dan’s wedding was that during the ceremony we had group photos at the altar of the Cathedral, which allowed me to do some fun stuff with a very long pole acting like a drone throughout the Cathedral – its a rather rare thing to be able to do!

Glamour Photos

The original plan was to take some glamour photos around Victoria Square so we could have the Cathedral in the backdrop of the photos – however their ceremony took a little longer than expected, and we spent a bit of time having a group photo in front of the Cathedral.

We spent a little time inside the Cathedral itself using the wonderful architecture, and also recreating their first kiss as their original kiss was unfortunately behind their two chairs they sat in during their ceremony.

Sash then retired to her room at their hotel, but not before shooting a bit in front of some rustic walls in a nearby allyway. This allowed me to get a start on their same day edit video, which they specially requested to be played during their reception. Putting these together can be a bit stressful, but are always very rewarding considering the glowing feedback you get from guests throughout the night!

Once Sasha and Dan made it to Ayer’s House we used the gardens and historic scenes around the manor for a few shots before entering their reception.

Norwood’s St Ignatius Catholic Church Wedding – Alison & Matthew

Alison and Matthew’s St Ignatius Catholic Church Wedding in Norwood took place on a day which weather diddn’t really know what was going on – we managed to avoid the rain though so huge success there!

Their day was full of fun, romance and family and friends there to watch this lovely couple get married!

Preparation

Matthew and his groomsmen got prepared in a nice house overlooking the beach near Hallett Cove. The house featured high ceilings with very minimal wall coverings which made for a delightful spot for groom preparation,m especially since their shirt and suit choices suited the house nicely.

Matthew was running a little late in the morning, after having running about with some last minute details, but we still managed to get some shots of the boys helping him get ready ad  walk down to the cliff side for some shots with the water in the background.

Alison was being prepared with her bridal party and family at a bed and breakfast in Mile End. It was a delightful little cottage-style house with a beautiful hallway which I used to good effect!

After the bridal party had finished fussing about with Alison’s dress, we did a quick ‘first look’ with Alison’s family when whisked away quickly to the church in Norwood.

St Ignatius Catholic Church Wedding Ceremony

A St Ignatius Catholic Church wedding is something to behold! The church, nestled away in the backstreets of Norwood boasts an impressive front door, and a three-pronged interior which allows for some pretty impressive wide shots from the upper level.

Alison arrived in her white car motorcade, and was escorted down the long aisle by her father. A fun thing about Alison and Matthew’s bridal entrance was that the groomsmen walked down the aisle halfway to meet the bridesmaids as they entered – which I thought was nice.

Another delightful little piece of family history was that this was the 4th St Ignatius Catholic Church wedding in Alison’s family going back generations!

Glamour Photos

Unfortunately the Catholic church ceremony took a little longer than Alison and Matthew had expected, so we had to rush through the family photos a bit out the front of the church before heading out for glamour photos.

We had to make a quick stop at the Torrens Arms Hotel in Kingwood in order to have a quick champagne as this was where Alison and Mtthew had first met and celebrate their anniversary at each year, and then the original plan was to head to the Himeji Gardens first, and then Veale Gardens for glamour photos, but as time was getting away from us we simply head straight to Veale Gardens.

Next Gen Wedding Reception

Alison and Matthew’s wedding reception took place right next to the Adelaide Oval in the Next Gen Health and Lifestyle clubs, where they also have a delightful function room overlooking the Torrens river.

That night there was also a sporting event on next door, and the Oz Asia festival set up on the grass out front, so it all felt very exclusive having the whole road blocked off for what seemed like the guests of this very exclusive wedding reception!

Alisona dn Matthew had my photobooth set up and running all night, and heartfelt speeches flowed beautifully. The whole night was very wholesome and delightful to be a part of!

St Mary’s Cathedral Wedding – Darwin – Jane & David

There’s nothing better than travelling up to Darwin for a wedding during the winter months, getting away from the cold weather in Adelaide during this time of year! these past few months have been full of travel for me, having covered a wedding in Santorini, Greece just a few weeks prior to Jane and David’s wedding at the St Mary’s Cathedral in Darwin! It was so awesome to be a part of as I knew Jane and David were wonderful people last time I met up with them on the remote Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin for an engagement shoot.

I went up there for a few days camping and exploring the remote island where Jane and David live amongst the local Tiwi islander community. It also happens to be the location of the wedding featured in the recent blockbuster ‘Top end wedding‘, which was pretty neat!

Preparation

David was being prepared with his groomsmen in an apartment overlooking the Darwin waterfront precinct. The atmosphere was laid back and easygoing and it all went pretty smoothly until I apparently interrupted a crossfit competition when we were waling about for photos on the beachfront.. sorry about that! Diddn’t seem to interrupt much as I diddnt even notice until after when someone mentiuoned it to me.. haha.

Jane and her bridesmaids were being prepared in a rather lavish bed and breakfast overlooking the Darwin skyline. The house featured a 3 story long single stairway which I was super keen on utilising for photos! 🙂 Similar to the guys, the girls were super laid back and if there were any nerves, Jane was hiding it well 🙂

St Mary’s Cathedral Wedding Ceremony

St Mary’s Cathedral, or ‘Star of the Sea’ Cathedral is located fairly central to the darwin CBD and features a rather unique arch design right throughout it’s main chamber. The Cathedral is lined with local indigenous artwork which was quite important to Jane and David having strong connections with the local Tiwi islander community where they live and work. In the days leading up to the wedding day, jane was keen to point them out to me and tell me the meaning behind it all. It was facinating to learn about!

The Cathedral was built after the war in 1962, with it’s first tone taken from the first uranium mine built in the Northern Territory. As a result, it’s  arather modern cathedral with ample natural lighting and wide open spaces in order to move about without getting in anyone’s way while taking photos 🙂

Jane and David’s wedding ceremony was a traditional Catholic affair, complete with readings and full mass service, and even the ex-bishop of Darwin was in attendance which was quite the surpise to Jane and David! The main thng that really made Jane and David’s service stand out though was the wonderful performance from the local Tiwi islanders who had made the trip out to Darwin to celebrate Jane and David’s wedding with them.

After family photos and more Tiwi islander dancing out the front of St Mary’s Cathedral, we head out for the glamour photos. We first made use of the wonderful trees out the front of the Darwin Botanical park, before heading over towards Lake Alexander and East Point for photos amongst the wonderful red rocks and cliffs along the beach. jane and david were keen on having photos done similar to what they would have had done in the Tiwi Islands so I suggested heading around here. We also made use of a small park nearby the Darwin Surf Club before heading in for their reception.

Darwin Surf Club Wedding Reception

As is usally the case in Darwin during the dry season, the temperature during the night was absolutely perfect for a night time reception out on the lawn, and the great thing about the Darwin Surf Club is that the sun sets right over the beautiful beach lining the venue. The entire guest list were certainly there to have a good time and I was so pleased to see so many people up on the dance floor! Even David serenaded jane during the night with his newly gained guitar skills! It was such a fun night to be a part of which even featured a gelato bar!

St Laurence’s Church Wedding – Sarah & Mal

  • SARAH & MAL

    St Laurence’s Church Wedding

    Kiss in the Pews

Sarah and Mal had me as their wedding photographer for 6 hours on their big day backdropped by the beautiful St Laurence’s Church in North Adelaide. The weather on the day was super hot and dry which made it a bit of a challenge to get everything done in time, and all the while Sarah was quite a way along in her pregnancy 🙂 That being said however we did get everything we wanted done, except perhaps some photos out the front of the Bonython Hall on north Terrace, but is was a small thing to skip in order to keep the day rolling 🙂

Preparation

I started the day with Mal and his groomsmen being prepared together at their house in the North of Adelaide. All the boys were sitting around having a chat when I arrived and jumped into action, putting on their shirts and outfits just after. It was a bit of a whirlwind as I only had around 30 minutes before heading over to the girls.

The girls were being prepared in an apartment nearby the St Laurence’s Church in North Adelaide. The goal was to be ready within 30 minutes and head off to the university of Adelaide for ‘first look’ photos on the footbridge over the Torrens. Makeup was running a little late however.

Once we got to Adelaide uni we first went about doing a little ‘first look’ on the Torrens footbridge where Sarah walked up to Mal and surprised him with her dress, we then moved as quickly as we could up through the uni campus and used the buildings behind the museum and along North Terrace for some photos.

St Laurence’s Church Wedding Ceremony

St Laurence’s Catholic Church in North Adelaide is a historic church built in North Adelaide in 1868 in a time when North Adelaide was still used as farmland. The period in which it was built is showcased by it’s architecture, complete with a dark wooden roof inside, it’s walls are covered with white paint and large stained glass windows with illuminates the interior quite well for such a historic church.

Sarah and Mal’s congregation filled a little over half of the available pews within the church who witnessed a shorter version of a traditional Catholic wedding where Sarah and Mal were sat up the front while the priest would direct proceedings.

East Terrace Continental Wedding Reception

Once the family photos were done – unfortunately in the beating sun out the front of the church – everyone retreated to the East Terrace Continental hotel to recuperate at their wedding reception. It was quite warm in the small space of the hotel upstairs, so once we cut the Marvel-themed cake and had a few drinks, we head out to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens for some more photos.

My aim was to keep to the shade for photos around the Botanic Gardens as we had already run about quite a bit during the day and I felt everyone was feeling the heat a bit. Thankfully we could take our time a bit at this time of day as there was nothing we had to get back to super quick. Once we were done, I head back to the reception with the bridal party for a few more group photos before heading home.
