Belair National Park Wedding – Justine & Nathan

  • Justine & Nathan

    Belair National Park Wedding

    Under the trees

It was a rather overcast day in early December for Justine and Nathan’s wedding at the Belair National Park. Rain was threatening all day, but thankfully only showers for brief periods all day. Good thing too as the ceremony and following picnic-style period in between the ceremony and reception was all out in the open within the park. Turned out to be an awesome day though. I was asked to be their wedding photographer for the entire day and I had an absolute blast!

Preparation

Started off the day with Nathan and his boys getting ready at their home. I arrived to the boys all sitting about playing Super Smash bros on their Nintendo Switch before getting them moving to get dressed. There was a neat empty room off to the side of their living room where there was plenty of room to move about and take some rather atmospheric shots 🙂

I think the best experience of the morning was at Justine’s place of prep at her parent’s place. The emotion certainly got hold of Justine’s Dad who was holding back tears all morning, it was a delight to see and made the whole morning that much more emotional to witness that kind of fatherly love. Justine was fairly calm and collected through the whole morning though, quite keen on getting her dress on and moving the day forward 🙂

Belair National Park Wedding Ceremony

Their wedding ceremony took place in a hireable spot of grass within the Belair National Park in the shadow what I’m told to be the tallest certain type of gum tree in South Australia. Backdropped by native fauna, the place is a lovely setting, nearby some lush greenery ready for photos after.

Belair National Park Picnic

The great thing about this spot is that it boasts plenty of room to set up a ceremony, and a picnic while still having plenty of room for lawn games including cricket, chess and marks up. Everyone had a blast, and I got to witness one of the most intense games of giant jenga ever conceived.

Glamour Photos

For the glamour photos we wandered around the local area nearby where Justine and Nathan’s ceremony took place using the lovely greenery, and an awesome tree I discovered. before heading to another spot on the other side of the Belair National Park nearby the railway station. It’s always a great shot there with a huge archway of gum trees throwing themselves over the walking trail. Once we were done here we head off to the Glenelg Golf Course for the reception. While waiting to head in we used the scenery there for a few shots too.

Glenelg Golf Club Wedding Reception

The reception was quite a boisterous affair at the Glenelg Golf Club, with dancing going on all night and everyone having an absolute blast! The girls and boys all got into the bouquet and garter tosses, and everyone from young to old I’m sure were rubbing their feet the next morning from all the dancing they did the night before! It was a lot of fun circling the dance floor with my camera s when I walked by I’d always get someone throwing a funny face or going crazy in front of me!

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding – Angela & Don

  • ANGELA & DON

    Glenelg Golf Course Wedding

    With the Wedding Car

It was one of the first real warm days of the year on the day of Angela and Don’s wedding that took place at the Glenelg Golf Course. I was asked to be their wedding photographer from their preparation through to the end of their reception and it was an awesome day to be a part of! The weather was awesome all day, which brought some good and bad situations during the day, but it all worked out in the end! 😀

Preparation

Don and his groomsmen were being prepared in a room at the Grand on the Glenelg foreshore – it was quite a simple affair with good natured jibes being thrown at one another while getting ready in the room. After everyone was dressed we went for a bit of a walk nearby the beach for some different, scenic shots.

I arrived at the bridal place of preparation to the tune of Frozen’s ‘Let it go’ anthem playing in the background as Angela and Don’s little flower girl was running about watching and singing while trying to help out with whatever she could 🙂 To keep her entertained the girls would play a bit of ‘whats the time Mr.Wolf?’ Which is always fun.

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding Ceremony

The Glenelg Golf Course has a little grassy area off set from the nearby practice greens specifically allocated for holding wedding ceremonies. It’s a large enough area to hold larger sized wedding parties while having a backdrop of a few trees in front of a nearby fairway. Angela and Don’s wedding ceremony was a short, sweet affair, complete with personal readings from family members and fun shenanigans when Don went to kiss Angela while signing the registry. Some of the kids also found it fun to throw copious amounts of petals over Angela 🙂

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding Ceremony

Glamour Photos

After the group photos which we took in front of their bridal car, we used the car, and a rather powerful looking bubble machine(!) in a few photos at the Golf Course itself, before heading off towards the Grange beach and it’s Jetty. Unfortunately on the drive down there we soon realised that due to it being one of the first really warm days of the Summer, everyone in Adelaide had the same idea! The roads were packed with beach goers and we ended up heading to the closer Henley Beach Jetty. A bit of photoshop went into removing all the people in the background in some of their beach shots! What we got though I think I was happy wth and Angela and Don were keen to get away from the crowds as quickly as possible.

Glenelg Golf Course Wedding Reception

We then head back to the Glenelg Golf Course for Angela and Don’s reception in their very neat reception hall. The entire night was boisterous with the dance floor only being vacant for very short periods, while Angela and Don’s little flower girl really stole the limelight where she treated the entire party to a cute rendition of Frozen’s ‘Let it Go’. Don also made waves by borrowing the DJ’s kilt! Was a very fun night.

Glenelg Golf Club Wedding – Tam & Shaun

  • TAM & SHAUN

    Glenelg Golf Club Wedding

    Walking along together

It was a beautifully sunny day for Tam and Shaun’s wedding at the Glenelg Golf Club which backdropped an incredible day full of love and joy. They opted to have me as their wedding photographer for the entire day allowing me to capture both of their preparations, right through until their exit from the Glenelg Golf Club where they held both their wedding ceremony and reception.

Preparation

I started the day with Shaun’s place of preparation which was a house in Hallett Cove, surrounded by his extended family and friends. The atmosphere was laid back and Shaun’s groomsmen were doing their best to keep things light hearted and fun by telling jokes and ripping on one another. When it came to tying ties though, things started to get serious, as none of them really knew how to tie the specific knot that Tam had requested them to wear! So out came a handy youtube video to help, but they still hadn’t perfected the knot before I left. It’s a pretty common thing that men have trouble with during their preparation. 🙂

Tam was getting prepared in a room of the Grand Hotel on the Glenelg foreshore. Much like the guys, the atmosphere was lovely and laid back with no real rush to get ready too soon. Once the dresses and make up was done, we went for a little walk out along the Jetty and used the Grand’s pool area for some glamour photos before revealing the wedding dress to tam’s dad.

Glenelg Golf Club Wedding Ceremony

The Glenelg Golf Club is located just to the south of the Adelaide Airport, nestled away in an area that you just wouldn’t know is there unless you’d sought out one of the best and most awarded golf clubs in South Australia. Founded in 1926, the Glenelg golf club was developed by the idea of a group of local business men who wanted to have a more local golf club for ‘regular Sunday morning sojourns’. Due to it’s locations, it’s become one of the more prestigious and well looked after golf clubs in South Australia.

The functions side of the Glenelg Golf Club has been awarded as well, winning a multitude of ABIA awards, with the most recent being the 2017 Australian Bridal Industry Academy Award for Best Club Reception Venue in Australia.

Tam and Shaun’s wedding reception took place on a little grassy area in front of the club house, as is the case with the majority of weddings that take place at the Glenelg Golf Club. The area is backdropped by a line of trees and a fairway for one of the course’s holes which can be a good and bad thing, as it looks nice, but you’ll always have people playing golf in the background. The time of day they held their reception however saw some magnificent sun shine seeping through in their photos which was nice.

Glamour Photos

Rather than stay at the Glenelg Golf Club and make use of their lovely fairways as a backdrop to their wedding photos, Tam and Shaun opted to go for a bit of a drive down to  Hallett Cove where they spent their first date. However due to the slightly later wedding ceremony they held in Glenelg, by the time we arrived at Hallett Cove, the Sun was just about ready to set, so we had to hurry to get all the photos we could before it sank below the horizon all together.

Glenelg Golf Club Wedding Reception

The Glenelg Golf Club’s reception hall is a lovely laid-out area surrounded by decking outside suitable for guests to wander out on during the night. The guest’s tables were spread out across the room that can accommodate a rather large wedding congregation, surrounding the dance floor which was located at the fore of the head table where Tam, Shaun and their bridal party sat. It was a good fun night, culminating in a sparkler send off out the front of the club rooms with every guest, sparkler in hand seeing off their getaway car. Was pretty awesome 🙂

Belair National Park Wedding – Lexi & Matt

  • LEXI & MATT

    Belair National Park Wedding

    Bride and Groom under trees

Alexis and Matt were married nearby the Belair National Park at the (now closed) Belair Park Country Club with the original aim to use a grassy area to the front of the complex for their ceremony. This wasnt to be due to the weather, so instead they used the interior of one of the reception halls available on site. I was lucky enough to be chosen as their wedding photographer for the entire day, and despite the early weather, the day turned out brilliantly!

Preparation

I started the day with Matt and his grooms men who were being prepared at their parent’s place in Semaphore Park. One of the first things that Matt said to me was that we wasn’t a smiler 🙂 Nothing wrong with that though as his grooms men were more than keen on playing about, hanging on his nerves 🙂

Lexi was being prepared down the road in a room in the Lakes Hotel. The girls were waiting for me as they were sitting about casually having a bit to eat and joking about. More than happy to help me set up my photos 🙂 The only thing that was dampening the mood was the potential for rain, but if all turned out great in the end!

Belair Country Club Wedding Ceremony

The Belair National Park is one of the oldest National Parks in Australia and it boasts quite a bit of natural flora and fauna. The country Club built nearby in the 90s takes advantage of this incredible setting being surrounded by 835 hectares of the most beautiful scenery you could imagine.

It was a very warm period of the year when Alexis and Matt were wed amongst the Belair National Park, however the weather turned for the worse overnight and the original plan of using the grassy area in front of the Belair Country Club was cancelled due to fear of the ground being muddy. So the Ceremony was moved indoors which turned out to be a wonderful turn of events as it was stunning.

Belair National Park Glamour Photos

Directly after the ceremony and family photos, the bridal party first head out to where the ceremony was originally going to be held to mimic a shot I took at a wedding last time I was here – only to find the ground was fine. We then used the entry driveway of the country club to take photos of the cars before travelling to the Belair train station. We then went for a bit of a trek through the Belair National Park after having realised the ladies had left their flats at the Country Club – so it was pretty difficult going for them walking around in their heels, but we managed! 🙂 It was well worth it too, as we took some stunners!

Belair Country Club Wedding Reception

We head back to the Country Club for the reception, which took place in the upper reception room on site. The room is a lovely setting, complete with a private bar just outside, and room for a large number of guests. The area was decorated with long pieces of beautiful cloth which really completed the entire look of the room.
