Just one day after Lachie proposed to Abbie, we set off for this stunning location, ready to capture their love in the soft glow of the setting sun.

Pt Willunga, with its dramatic cliffs and serene beach, provided the perfect backdrop for Abbie and Lachie’s shoot. The iconic sticks of the old Pt Willunga jetty, now weathered and standing tall against the backdrop of the ocean, created an almost surreal setting. We used these sticks, along with the stunning cliff faces and the natural rock podiums, to craft some truly unique shots. Trees Inbetween

On our way to Blanche Point, a breathtaking scene caught my eye – the sunlight filtering through the trees, creating a canvas of light and shadow. It was an impromptu stop, but sometimes the most unplanned moments turn out to be the most memorable ones. We stepped out, and under the dappled light of the trees, we captured some extraordinary photos. The light played hide and seek with the leaves, creating a stunning pattern on Abbie and Lachie, adding a whimsical touch to the shoot.

This part of Adelaide, with its lush greenery and natural landscapes, never fails to amaze me. It’s these little pockets of beauty, scattered all around, that make Adelaide such a fantastic place for photography. Blanche Point

Blanche Point, a popular spot for photographers and couples alike, was our next destination. As a wedding photographer used to the hustle and bustle of Saturdays, I wasn’t surprised to find other couples there, even on a Wednesday. However, this didn’t deter us; we found our own little slice of paradise along the cliff tops. The rugged coastline, with its panoramic views, was a breathtaking backdrop for Abbie and Lachie’s engagement photos.

We recreated the proposal scene on one of the cliff tops, capturing the emotion and excitement of their engagement. Their playful and loving interaction made every shot a masterpiece. And then, it was time for the ‘money shot’ – right on the edge of the cliff, with the vast ocean stretching out behind them. It was a moment of pure magic, with the crashing waves below and the endless sky above, encapsulating the boundless nature of their love.

The decision to choose Pt Noarlunga beach was thoughtful, considering the accessibility for grandma and grandpa. The proximity to the boat ramp made it easier for them to be close to the water, an aspect that added a serene backdrop to our photoshoot. Under the jetty, we found ourselves in a different world – the crisscrossing wooden beams above created a beautiful pattern, adding a unique texture to the pictures. It was like capturing moments in a hidden treasure of Adelaide.

Photographing each individual family, the kids together, and the parents, I witnessed the bond that tied them all together. The laughter, the shared glances, and the unspoken love were palpable. Of course, every shoot has its challenges. The bright sun, while perfect for a day out, can be a photographer’s nemesis. Squinting eyes are often unavoidable, but with a bit of positioning and timing, I managed to capture everyone with their best, sun-kissed faces forward. The key, I find, in such situations is to keep the mood light and fun. It’s amazing how a good laugh can relax the eyes and bring out natural smiles.

Building a rapport with a family you’ve just met is no small feat, especially when you’re seen as the “wierdo” with the camera. But, part of the joy in what I do lies in breaking down those initial barriers. By engaging with the family, cracking jokes, and sometimes making a fool of myself, I ensure everyone feels comfortable. It’s these little moments of connection that allow me to capture the family in their most natural and relaxed state.

Fun with a Vintage Box Brownie

Adding a twist to the shoot, I introduced a vintage Box Brownie camera from my collection. This 70-year-old camera wasn’t just a prop; it was a bridge connecting the past and present. The way the sunlight dances through the trees at this time of day and the serene backdrop it provides is simply unparalleled.

In the Belair National Park, just a short drive from Adelaide, we wrapped up a day that was as unique and vibrant as Lindsey and Jaden’s love.
