Glenelg’s Partridge House Wedding – Emma & Steven

Glenelg’s Partridge House Wedding! Just reading those words sends my heart fluttering with excitement. Imagine the perfect backdrop of a historic house with sprawling public gardens as its crown jewel. This is exactly where Emma and Steven chose to exchange their vows. Nestled in the heart of Glenelg, Adelaide, it’s a dreamy venue that offers the perfect blend of history and nature’s beauty.

The star attraction of their ceremony was, without a doubt, that magnificent large tree. As an Adelaide wedding photographer, I’ve seen many stunning venues, but Emma’s touch of hanging lanterns from that tree was a vision to behold! Twinkling gently as they exchanged their vows, the lanterns added a touch of magic to the whole setting. It was like a scene straight out of a fairy tale!

Preparation

The anticipation, the giddy giggles, the touch-up of lipstick – this is where the real magic begins. Emma prepared herself in one of the stately rooms of the Partridge House, and let me tell you, she looked like an ethereal princess. Every time I snapped a picture, I could feel the air charged with excitement. While she was getting ready, she was also keenly ensuring that every detail, especially the white floral arrangements, was picture-perfect.

The preparations weren’t just about the bride. The entire house was draped in the theme of love. White florals made their statement not just with their beauty but with their fragrance. Capturing these behind-the-scenes moments is pure gold!

Glenelg’s Partridge House Wedding Ceremony

Every ceremony is unique, but Emma and Steven’s wedding was the epitome of love and simplicity. The giggles, the glances, and oh, their adorable little flower girl! Their daughter took center stage, scattering petals with the innocence only a child possesses. The love radiating from the couple was palpable, and as they exchanged their vows under the lantern-lit tree, I could feel the weight of their commitment.

The culmination of their love story was celebrated with their closest family and friends. After the “I do’s”, the couple chose to mingle with their guests, making memories and sharing laughs on the lush, grassy expanse of the Partridge House gardens. Every moment was filled with love and laughter, and as their photographer, I was there to capture it all.

Sunset approached and painted the sky with hues of pink and orange, setting the stage for our glamour photo session. Using only the house’s grounds and gardens, we found countless picturesque spots. The golden hour had the sun casting a soft glow, making Emma and Steven look even more radiant.

Every nook and cranny of the Glenelg’s Partridge House gardens provided a perfect backdrop. The ancient trees, beautifully manicured hedges, and vintage charm of the house added layers to the photos that are hard to put into words. And just when I thought I’d seen it all, we’d stumble upon yet another spot that would leave us in awe.

Glenelg’s Partridge House Wedding Reception

Held inside the Partridge House, Emma and Steven’s reception was a relaxed, fun-filled event. Steven’s welcoming speech was the only formal bit, and it was heartwarming. After that, it was all about the music, dance, and, of course, the photo booth!

Mt Lofty House Wedding – Regan & Adam

Regan and Adam’s Adelaide Hills wedding was truly a day to remember, filled with stunning views, aviation-themed puns, and lots of love. As their chosen Adelaide wedding videographers and photographers, we had the pleasure of capturing every magical moment of this special day. But as a bit of fun, we also added a touch of vintage charm with a super 8 camera to create a unique wedding video experience. Let’s dive into the delightful details of Regan and Adam’s wedding celebration!

We had the pleasure of creating a vintage wedding video for Regan and Adam. With the nostalgic charm of a super 8 camera, we added a touch of whimsy and enchantment to their wedding memories. It was an exciting departure from the ordinary, resulting in a one-of-a-kind wedding video that perfectly complemented their special day.

Preparation

The day began with Adam and his groomsmen getting ready in their room at the wonderful Mt Lofty House, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Adelaide Hills. Both the groomsmen and the bridal party were being perpared along the same wing of the hotel, so we made the use of the situation by sticking the drone up for a quick photo of the two groups during their preparation!

As an aviation enthusiast, Adam’s preparation was filled with playful pilot jokes and puns, adding a fun and light-hearted atmosphere to the morning. The excitement was palpable as the groomsmen made sure Adam looked his absolute best, ensuring every tie was perfectly straight and every hair was in place.

Amidst the laughter and camaraderie, Adam took a moment to reflect on the significance of the day. His nerves mingled with anticipation as he prepared to marry the love of his life. It was a truly special and heartwarming scene, capturing the essence of love and friendship that would permeate the entire day.

Glamour Photos

After the ceremony, it was time to capture the couple’s love and radiance through glamorous photos. The Mt Lofty House offered a plethora of enchanting locations for the photoshoot. From sweeping views of the Adelaide Hills to charming nooks and crannies, every corner was a photographer’s dream.

White Hill Estate Wedding – Catherine & Sean

Catherine and Sean’s wedding was one that was really blessed with increidble weather! The venue of choice was the beautiful White Hill Estate, located in the heart of McLaren Vale. It was a warm and sunny day, perfect for an outdoor wedding.

Preparation

Sean and his groomsmen started their day near the beach at his parents’ house. The natural surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for some outdoor photos amongst the gum trees. The guys were all smiles as they got ready, and you could feel the excitement building in the air. Sean looked handsome in his tailored suit, and his groomsmen looked sharp in their matching attire. They were ready to celebrate in style!

Catherine was getting ready at the house she and Sean had built together in Craigburn. She was surrounded by her bridal party, mum, their pet dog, and their son. It was a heartwarming scene to witness with everyone smiling and flitting about getting everything ready.

The house was filled with natural light, and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. Catherine’s bridal party helped her get ready, and they all looked stunning in their matching floral gowns. After getting dressed, they decided to take a walk to a nearby park to take some pre-wedding photos.

Unfortunately, things took an unexpected turn when their son accidentally bumped his lip and started bleeding. It was a minor emergency, but everyone was eager not to get any blood on Catherine’s beautiful dress! Luckily, they were able to clean him up quickly and continue on with their day. It was a reminder that sometimes unexpected things happen on your wedding day, but with love and support from family and friends, everything works out in the end!

White Hill Estate Wedding Ceremony

As soon as we arrived, we could feel the excitement in the air. The guests were chatting, laughing and enjoying themselves. The venue was decorated with stunning native floral arrangements. It was clear that Catherine and Sean had put a lot of thought into every detail.

Catherine and Sean’s wedding ceremony took place in front of the lovely pond on site, surrounded by gum trees. This is always an amazingly picturesque backdrop for the exchanging of vows. It was a peaceful and serene setting, perfect for the romantic occasion.

Catherine and her bridal party approached the ceremony walking from the stunning heritage house located at the center of the property, and it was a beautiful sight to see. The house and the pond together created a beautiful and unique atmosphere that made the wedding all the more memorable.

The ceremony took place under a beautiful arbouradorned with flowers. Catherine looked stunning in her lace gown, and Sean was dashing in his tailored suit. As they exchanged their vows, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. The love between these two was palpable.

After the ceremony, the happy couple hopped made the ost fo their amazing set of muscle cars for their wedding photos. It was a unique and fun way to capture some memorable moments. The cars made for a stunning backdrop for some of their photos.

Next up, we headed over to the nearby vineyards to take some more photos. The rows of grapevines created a picturesque setting, and the couple looked stunning against the greenery. We captured some intimate moments between Catherine and Sean, and it was clear that they were deeply in love – even though I once made them walk far too far as they couldnt hear us shouting at them from a distance! 🙂

As the sun started to set, we moved to a nearby field. The wide open space and golden hour lighting made for some truly stunning photos. Catherine’s dress billowed in the breeze, and Sean looked dapper in his suit. They danced and twirled as I captured some breathtaking shots both fromt he ground and in the air.

White Hill Estate Wedding Reception

When the light had faded, it was time to head back to the White Hill Estate function room for the reception. The last time I had shot a wedding here was many years ago, and since then they had built a neat deck area with ample room for  quite a large congregation, which was good as the original heritage chaff shed isnt exactly the largest space available.

The room was beautifully decorated with more flowers and candles and the rest of the evening was filled with laughter, food, and dancing. The DJ kept the music going, and everyone had a blast. Catherine and Sean were surrounded by their loved ones, and it was clear that they were having the time of their lives.

Vintage Wedding Videography with Super 8 Cameras

Your wedding day is a special occasion that you’ll want to remember for the rest of your life. While wedding videography is a popular way to capture those precious moments, you might like to consider adding a unique touch to your wedding memories by incorporating vintage wedding videography using a super 8 camera!

While this may seem like a late April Fools joke which I tend to enjoy unleashing on you guys each year – I’m truthfully keen to announce my new service where I will use an old school Super 8 camera to produce a wedding video with a vintage vibe!

Vintage wedding videography with a super 8 camera is a delightful way to add a nostalgic and timeless feel to your wedding video. The use of old technology can transport you back in time, evoking the charm and magic of the past. In this blog post, we’ll explore how vintage wedding videography can be a fun and creative option for your special day.

What is Super 8?

Super 8 is a motion picture film format that was introduced in the 1960s and gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. It uses 8mm wide film stock, which is smaller than the more traditional 16mm film, making it more affordable and accessible for amateur filmmakers. Super 8 cameras were widely used to capture home movies, and the distinct aesthetic of the footage, characterized by its grainy texture, soft focus, and vibrant colors, has become synonymous with the vintage visual appeal.

It’s this vintage look that gives such a fun, nostalgic feel to the video that’s produced with

Why Have Vintage Wedding Videography at a Modern Wedding?

In today’s digital age, where high-definition videos are the norm, you might wonder why anyone would want to use an old-fashioned super 8 camera to capture a wedding video. The answer lies in the unique and nostalgic charm that vintage wedding videography can bring to your special day.

  1. Timeless Aesthetic: Vintage wedding videography using a super 8 camera can give your wedding video a timeless aesthetic that harkens back to a bygone era. The grainy texture and soft focus of the footage can create a dreamy and romantic atmosphere, reminiscent of classic films from the past. The vintage look and feel of super 8 footage can add an element of nostalgia to your wedding video, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
  2. Unique and Personal: In a world where wedding videos can often feel generic and similar, vintage wedding videography can be a unique and personal way to capture your wedding day. Super 8 cameras require a hands-on approach, with manual focusing and winding the film, which can involve the videographer in the moment and add a personal touch to the footage. The limited film length (about 3 minutes per cartridge) also encourages the videographer to be intentional and selective in capturing the most meaningful moments, creating a truly personalized wedding video that reflects your style and personality.
  3. Fun and Interactive: Vintage wedding videography can also be a fun and interactive experience for both the couple and the videographer. The tactile nature of handling the film and the mechanical operation of the camera can be a novelty in today’s digital age, adding a sense of excitement and spontaneity to the filming process. Couples can enjoy the process of being part of a unique experience and watching their wedding memories come to life on actual film. It can also be a fun and engaging element for guests, as they may be curious to see a super 8 camera in action.
  4. Artistic and Creative: Super 8 cameras provide opportunities for artistic and creative expression. The limitations of the format, such as the soft focus and grainy texture, can be embraced as artistic choices, allowing the videographer to create a visually stunning wedding video with a vintage aesthetic. Additionally, the use of film as a medium allows for unique opportunities for experimentation with double exposures, multiple exposures, and other creative techniques that can result in truly artistic and memorable footage.

Wedding videography using a super 8 camera can add a unique and nostalgic touch to your wedding album, creating a timeless aesthetic, and providing a personalized and artistic representation of your special day. The fun and interactive nature of using old technology, along with the opportunity to preserve the footage as physical film reels, make vintage wedding videography a truly special and memorable experience.

So, if you’re looking for a creative and distinctive way to capture your wedding memories, I’d love to capture your wedding with the magic of vintage wedding videography with a super 8 camera. Let the beauty of the past be a part of your wedding story and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime!

Also, if you have old family super 8 footage lying around, converting them into digital format can be a wonderful way to bring those memories back to life and share them with your loved ones. Happy to say that I can offer that service too!

Old Woodhouse Manor Wedding – Victoria-Rose & Adam

Victoria Rose and Adam’s Old Woodhouse Manor Wedding was such an interesting wedding to be a part of! First up was a lovingly choreographed first look between this lovely, couple, followed by a classical music concert and then a delightful outside reception in the shadow of this delightful old manor in the Adelaide Hills.

Preparation

Both Victoria-Rose and Adam were being prepared in one of the many rooms in this delightful old Manor. Walking through the rooms was super nostalgic for me as the last time I had visited this Scout-run venue was over 20 years ago for a school camp.

This grand gothic sandstone house was built for one time Premier of South Australia and Chief Justice of South Australia Sr Richard Davies Hanson. Hanson built this large mansion in the 1860s, while the Australian Boy Scouts purchased the house and property in 1972 and to this day run the site as a training ground and popular camp site.

Victoria-Rose was keen on having a grand ‘first look’ with Adam next to the nearby stream so much of the time we were with Victoria-Rose as she got ready, Adam was with his groomsmen awaiting her arrival.

Victoria-Rose and Adam held their first look at the bottom of the gardens surrounding the Manor, we made use of the nearby foliage for a bit of shade during the midday sun for a few glamour shots before heading to a nearby clearning for their ceremony.

Old Woodhouse Manor Wedding Ceremony

Victoria-Rose and Adam’s Old Woodhouse Manor wedding ceremony took place under the shade of a large tree, nearby the car parking spaces reserved for people heading to the Manor.

Victoria-Rose arrived in a modern Mustang, with a rather brave driver, as they were completely off road and in heavy grass as they approached. I would have been worried aboult getting such a low car out of there!

Victoria-Rose walked along a small footbridge towards Adam and their congregation with Enya playing in the background and held a nice, simple ceremony topped off by having one of their grandmothers join in with a hand-fasting ceremony, which was a nice touch.

Old Woodhouse Manor Wedding Reception

Inbetween Victoria-Rose and Adam’s Ceremony and sit-down reception which was taking place in a large paved courtyard, shaded by the old manor, everyone was treated to a classical mucic concert as a surprise, put on by their parents.
