Family moments are precious, and what better way to celebrate them than with a beautiful family photoshoot? Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a family shoot at the stunning Serafino Wines in McLaren Vale. This picturesque location provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable day, filled with laughter, joy, and a touch of nature’s magic.

Serafino Wines, with its sprawling vineyards and serene lake, is a dream setting for any photographer. The early morning clouds created a soft, diffused light that was perfect for photography. We initially planned to start early to avoid the harsh midday sun, but the overcast sky turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It kept the temperatures cool and made everyone feel comfortable, especially the little ones.

The occasion was a special one – the grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. This milestone brought the entire family together, and what better way to commemorate it than with a family photoshoot? From grandparents to grandkids, everyone was excited to be part of this special day. The energy was infectious, and it was clear that this family shared a deep bond and a lot of love.

Sneakys Restaurant Wedding – Kirsty & Chris

Kirsty and Chris chose the stunning Sneakys Restaurant in Angle Vale for their wedding, a decision that set the scene for a truly magical day. As their wedding photographer, capturing the essence of their special day at such a picturesque venue was a delightful challenge. The sun dappled through the lush vineyards, casting an enchanting glow over every moment. From the vibrant greenery that surrounded the area to the heartfelt smiles of everyone involved, the setting provided a perfect backdrop for this unforgettable event.

The couple’s choice of Sneakys Restaurant underscored their love for elegance and nature, both of which are abundant at this Northern-Adelaide venue. Each detail of the venue complimented the day’s theme, from the meticulously laid out ceremony space overlooking the vineyards to the cozy, inviting reception area upstairs. It was clear that Kirsty and Chris had thoughtfully curated each element to reflect their personalities and love story.

Preparation

The day began the childhood home of Kirsty, south of Adelaide. It was here, in a room filled with nostalgia and morning sunlight, that Kirsty and her bridesmaids shared laughter and a few joyful tears as they prepared. The air buzzed with excitement, punctuated by the clicks and whirrs of my Super 8 camera — although I had an early mishap where I dropped it! haha – it was all part of the day’s adventures! The bridesmaids, dressed in chic, pastel gowns, flitted around Kirsty, who looked radiant in her flowing bridal dress.

Amidst the giggles and the final touches of makeup, there was a sense of serene happiness. The bridesmaids shared stories and reminisced, enveloped by the warmth of the home and the presence of Wal from Footrot Flats overseeing the scene. It was a morning filled with perfect moments, the kind that are a joy to capture, showcasing not just beauty but the bonds of lifelong friendships.

Closer to Sneakys, Chris and his groomsmen were getting ready in their own laid-back style. The atmosphere was relaxed but filled with anticipation. First Looks

The excitement peaked during the first looks. Mellora and her father shared a heartfelt moment under the famed weeping willows at St Francis Winery. This was one of those instances where you could genuinely feel the love and pride radiating from her dad. Meanwhile, Dan made his grand entrance in a giant Hummer, wine bottle in hand, embodying the spirit of celebration.

As Dan stepped out, ready for his own first look, a groomsman played a cheeky trick, tapping him on the shoulder before Mellora could. The laughter and surprise captured in those photos are some of my favorites. It’s moments like these that add a personal touch to the wedding album, making it uniquely theirs.

Pre Ceremony Glamour Photos

Before the ceremony, we explored the St Francis grounds for some glamour shots. The rustic stonework of the winery, combined with the natural light filtering through the branches, created an ethereal setting. Mellora and Dan were naturals in front of the camera, their love and excitement palpable, making every photo vibrant with emotion.

These sessions are always an adventure, discovering new angles and using the natural beauty of Old Noarlunga to enhance the romantic feel of the day. The couple’s easy-going nature allowed us to experiment with different poses and settings, resulting in stunning, magazine-worthy photographs.

Old Noarlunga Winery Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony itself was a blend of elegance and quirky moments. Set against the backdrop of the winery’s old stone buildings, the scene was picturesque. As Mellora walked down the aisle, the air was thick with anticipation. The ceremony was filled with laughter, notably when Mellora’s mum received a stuffed goat as a ‘dowry’—a hilarious family inside joke that had everyone in stitches.

The handfasting ritual, where Mellora and Dan bound their hands together as a symbol of their union, was particularly moving. It was a beautiful testament to their commitment, sealed with a heartfelt kiss, which I captured in a series of tender, emotive shots.

Post-ceremony, we took advantage of the golden hour, venturing a short distance from the venue for more glamour photos. This part of the day allows for some relaxed, yet striking captures. With the soft, fading light creating a golden glow around them, Mellora and Dan looked utterly in love, completely at ease as they strolled through the vineyards.

St Francis Winery Wedding Reception

The reception at St Francis Winery was nothing short of spectacular. With speeches that ranged from touching to uproariously funny, and a dance floor that was never empty, the atmosphere was electric. Mellora and Dan’s choreographed dance was a highlight, a perfect blend of elegance and fun that kept everyone cheering.

Nestled in the heart of McLaren Vale, Whitehill Estate proved to be the perfect backdrop for Kimberley and Matthew’s enchanting wedding day. As their chosen wedding photographer and videographer, I was thrilled to capture every moment of this joyous occasion. Arriving early at the venue is part of my routine, ensuring every camera angle is set to perfection.

However, the sight that greeted me was unexpected yet utterly delightful—Matthew and his groomsmen were already there, engaging in a playful photo session with another photographer. For a moment, confusion set in, making me wonder if I had arrived at the correct venue. But of course, I was exactly where I needed to be!

The ceremony itself was nothing short of heartwarming, with Kimberley and Matthew’s two little boys inevitably stealing the spotlight. Their desire to stay close to Kimberley was evident, showcasing the tight-knit bond of this beautiful family. From the outset, as they eagerly ran up to their dad, to gradually gravitating towards their mum, these adorable boys were the centre of attention throughout. Even as Kimberley and Matthew shared their first kiss as a married couple, their sons remained the stars of the show. In a humorous turn of events, Kimberley had to momentarily pause the proceedings to attend to one of their sons’ needs—a testament to the laid-back and joy-filled atmosphere of their wedding day.

The ambiance was filled with love and laughter, especially with their children’s adorable interruptions, adding a personal and unforgettable touch to the ceremony. Following the ceremony and the charmingly chaotic group shots—where coaxing all the children to look at the camera was a delightful challenge—we ventured around the breathtaking Whitehill Estate for glamour shots. The aim wasn’t to spend hours away from the guests; instead, Kimberley and Matthew were keen to rejoin their loved ones, embodying their desire to cherish every moment with family and friends.
