Once the formal group shots were done, we gathered the bridal party and headed toward one of the roads within the Beach Huts complex. Glamour Photos

After the ceremony, group photos were handled efficiently, keeping the growing heat in mind. With little shade in the open ceremony space, it was important to move quickly while still capturing meaningful combinations. Everyone was more than happy to help, and the relaxed energy made the process smooth and stress-free.

For couple portraits, we headed briefly off site to a nearby abandoned cottage tucked amongst a vineyard. The contrast between the rustic textures and Lena and Kurtis’ polished look worked beautifully. They didn’t want an endless glamour session, preferring to spend more time with their guests, which made the portraits feel natural and unforced. A handful of thoughtfully composed images was all that was needed before heading back to the Barns of Freeling to continue the celebrations.

As sunset rolled in, we headed out together with the entire bridal party and the mirror, turning that golden hour into a shared experience rather than a quiet escape. The light was spilling across the hills, the sky softening into warm tones, and the wind finally easing just enough to make the moment feel comfortable and unrushed. Having everyone involved brought a fun, energetic edge to the session, with laughter, movement, and genuine interactions unfolding naturally. The mirror added an artistic layer that reflected both the landscape and the people who mattered most, creating images that felt bold, playful, and full of life while still embracing the beauty of the Barns of Freeling at sunset.

Barns of Freeling Wedding Reception

The reception began outdoors in the courtyard, where speeches were delivered under open skies and surrounded by the relaxed buzz of guests settling in for the evening. Each speaker brought their own flavour, blending sharp humour with genuine emotion in a way that felt effortless and sincere. Laughter carried easily through the space, followed by quieter moments that had guests reaching for tissues. Sharing these words outside gave the speeches an easy, communal feel, perfectly suited to the laid-back elegance of the Barns of Freeling.

As the formalities wrapped up, the celebrations picked up pace. Lena threw her bouquet with confidence and plenty of flair, drawing cheers and playful enthusiasm from the crowd. Once the evening shifted indoors, the dancefloor came alive almost instantly. Friends and family wasted no time filling the space, bringing energy, movement, and a contagious sense of fun that carried on well into the night.

Stunning Pt Willunga Beach Proposal – Lula & Hawie

Some proposals arrive with military-level planning, secret group chats, and one very determined sibling at the centre of it all – this Pt WIllunga Beach Proposal was supposed to be one of those times. This one started with a message from Hawie’s brother, who had taken on the role of chief organiser, logistics coordinator, and emotional hype man. His vision was clear from the start: flowers, a meaningful location, and a moment that felt effortless but unforgettable. My role was to help shape the where, while quietly preparing for the when – which was a bit late.

When the conversation turned to location, Pt Willunga Beach immediately stood out. There’s a reason it’s one of the most photographed beaches in South Australia. Those dramatic cliffs stretch along the coastline like a natural amphitheatre, the remnants of the old jetty create instant texture and history, and Blanche Point sits just around the corner offering sweeping views that glow as the sun drops. It’s the kind of place that feels cinematic without trying too hard, and for a proposal, that balance matters.

Pt Willunga Beach Proposal

A heatwave, the tail end of school holidays, and one of the most loved beaches in the state is a combination that guarantees crowds. By the time the flowers were set and everything was in position, Pt Willunga was buzzing. Families, swimmers, tourists, kids with boogie boards, groups staking out prime spots for sunset. Beautiful energy, but not exactly discreet proposal conditions.

When Hawie and Lula arrived, it was immediately clear we needed to pivot. Privacy matters in moments like this, especially when one half of the couple is about to experience a life-changing surprise. We shifted the floral setup along the cliffs to a quieter section of the beach, tucked further away from the main flow of foot traffic. The move was quick, slightly chaotic, and absolutely the right call.

That change came with a new challenge. My hiding options were suddenly very limited. The cliffs were tighter, the angles narrower, and there was nowhere obvious to disappear into. As they walked toward the flowers, Lula spotted me almost immediately and gave a friendly hello. That brief moment said everything. She already knew something was happening. The energy was buzzing, the smiles were too big, and Hawie had that barely-contained excitement written all over him.

After the initial wave of excitement settled, we took advantage of everything Pt Willunga has to offer. A slow walk along the shoreline opened up space for relaxed portraits, where the cliffs towered above and the water reflected the softening sky. The mood shifted naturally from surprise to celebration, from nervous anticipation to calm happiness.

The destroyed jetty remnants added a beautiful sense of place. There’s something poetic about incorporating history into a new beginning. The textures, the lines, the way the ocean weaves through the structure all lend themselves to emotive imagery. Lula and Hawie moved easily together, still riding the high of the proposal, comfortable and completely in sync.

The caves along the foreshore brought a different energy again. Sheltered, dramatic, and rich in contrast, they offered a moment of quiet away from the open beach. As the sun dipped closer to the horizon, we made the call to head up to Blanche Point. Timing was tight. Sunset waits for no one, and those final minutes can transform everything. We barely made it, but sometimes that urgency sharpens focus in the best way.

Blanche Point delivered exactly what it always does. Sweeping views, glowing skies, and light that feels almost painted on. The warmth lingered just long enough to create a final series of portraits that felt expansive and intimate all at once. Lula and Hawie stood wrapped in the moment, silhouetted against the fading light, the day closing around them in the most fitting way.

This Pt Willunga Beach proposal had everything. Thoughtful planning, a supportive family member behind the scenes, a few unexpected twists, and a moment that felt completely true to the couple.
