The backdrop of rows upon rows of lush vineyard vines set the perfect stage for their celebration. With their pooch making a special cameo, heartfelt notes exchanged during prep, and a reception that had everything from candlelit charm to full-blown dancefloor energy, this day was a dream from start to finish. And The Vine Shed? A venue that feels modern yet rustic, with just the right amount of space to let love (and laughter) take centre stage.

Preparation

The boys got ready on-site at The Vine Shed, and let’s just say it wasn’t your standard “suit up and sip whisky” affair. While the original plan was to prep in the accommodation, the space turned out to be a tad tight. Meanwhile, Brydie was tucked away in a gorgeous little bed and breakfast nearby in Mclaren Vale with her bridesmaids. The ceremony space at The Vine Shed was jaw-dropping. The arbour, completely draped in fresh, fragrant florals, sat at the edge of the vineyard, giving a gorgeous sense of openness while still feeling intimate. The florist had clearly poured their heart and soul into every detail, and the effect was unforgettable. That blend of native and classic blooms with a wild elegance was the perfect match for the couple’s vibe.

Ash and Will’s Inman Valley Wedding was everything a wedding should be – real, joyful, and unapologetically them. Mt Lofty House Wedding – Jen & Craig

Jen and Craig infused the elegance of the Adelaide Hills with a splash of Scottish spirit, creating a wedding day that was equal parts heartwarming and highland. Their Mt Lofty House wedding was everything you’d hope for when blending rich traditions with heartfelt moments—complete with kilts, a bagpiper, and dancing that kept the energy glowing well into the night. With guests arriving from near and far to celebrate, there was an undeniable buzz in the air from the start.

What made this day even more remarkable was the weather. Expecting a cool and moody winter wedding, the sun surprised everyone by showing up in full force. The light danced over the gardens and filtered through the giant windows of Mt Lofty House, creating a golden glow that made every photo shine. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Piccadilly Valley, the entire celebration felt like it had stepped out of a storybook—just with a bit more whisky and a lot more tartan.

Preparation

Craig spent the morning at their home in Adelaide’s leafy east, surrounded by his groomsmen. The vibe was relaxed but joyful as the lads suited up in traditional Scottish attire. Kilts, sporrans, and knee-high socks set the tone for a day that was proudly heritage-rich and full of personal meaning. There was plenty of laughter as they helped each other with their gear and toasted with a cheeky wee dram before heading up to the Hills.

One of the loveliest things to witness was how genuinely excited Craig was. You could feel his anticipation building in the quiet in-between moments—checking his watch, straightening his jacket, then smiling at the thought of what lay ahead. The shared banter between the guys kept things grounded, and the mood never strayed too far from playful, even as the gravity of the moment crept in.

Mt Lofty House Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony unfolded on the lawn overlooking the lush, undulating valley of the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens behind Mt Lofty House. It’s hard to think of a more cinematic setting. Guests gathered under the clear winter sky, warm sunlight blanketing the scene in golden hues. As the first notes of the bagpipes began to echo across the hills, a hush fell over the crowd. Jen’s entrance, piped in by a local bagpiper, was nothing short of magical—strongly evoking the Scottish highlands and drawing a few emotional gasps.

The ceremony itself was a beautiful balance of tradition and personal flair. There were a few laughs, a few tears, and plenty of smiles as they exchanged vows and sealed it all with a kiss under a perfect sky. The celebrant spoke beautifully about their journey together, and the energy from the guests was nothing short of supportive and electric. Glamour Photos

Once the group pohtos had been taken and the hugs shared, we strolled the stunning grounds of Mt Lofty House for glamour photos. The scenery is honestly a photographer’s dream—heritage buildings, sweeping views, vibrant gardens, and hidden pockets of romantic light. We didn’t spend too long outside, just enough to soak up the glow and capture those candid little interactions—the quick glances, quiet laughter, and the way Craig instinctively reached for Jen’s hand.

After a short session outdoors, we headed back inside for a breather and a delicious grazing platter. Giving couples a moment to unwind between ceremony and reception always makes a difference—it gives space to enjoy the day as it’s happening and not just chase it. Jen and Craig looked completely in sync, both a little giddy and ready to let the rest of the day unfold.

As the sun dipped below the hills, the reception space came alive. Guests were treated to heartfelt speeches that drew a few misty eyes—and quite a few laughs. The love in the room was tangible, with guests genuinely delighted to be part of something so special.

Of course, no Scottish celebration would be complete without some traditional dancing. And what a joy it was! The floor filled quickly, tartan swirling, feet stomping, and the joyful chaos of a ceilidh lifting spirits across generations. Later in the evening, we slipped outside for a few dramatic photos in the dark—backlit by soft lights and smoke for that extra touch of moody magic. Those night portraits captured a quieter, more intimate moment between the two of them, rounding out a day bursting with energy and love.

Photos Around the Back Streets

Once we’d wrapped up inside, we stepped into the city’s vibrant core for a short stroll and a mini photoshoot session with a twist of cheeky charm. Adelaide’s backstreets are full of character—gritty textures, pops of colour, and lots of personality. The perfect backdrop for capturing something just a little different.

Greg, being a bit camera-shy, took some coaxing—but that’s half the fun. We turned the session into a bit of a game, getting him to try a few poses that were slightly out of his comfort zone. Leaning against walls like a rockstar, pretending to strut like he owned the lane, even giving Milena a spontaneous twirl. It wasn’t long before we had everyone laughing, and that’s when the best moments started to unfold naturally.

Milena was glowing, effortlessly elegant in her minimalist outfit. There was something so refreshing about how fuss-free everything was. No towering bouquets or long trains to manage—just two people who love each other, in love with the simplicity of their day. It really goes to show that weddings don’t need to be grand to be beautiful. To wrap up our hour together, we made our way to one of Adelaide’s hidden gems: the top level of the Adelaide Arcade. If you haven’t been there, it’s like stepping into a mini-European streetscape—polished floors, ornate balustrades, charming shopfronts, and moody lighting that brings a regal air to everything it touches.

It’s one of my favourite spots to take photos in the city. Even with the hustle and bustle below, the upper arcade is often quiet, offering an almost cinematic atmosphere. Milena and Greg took a moment to pause, surrounded by antique architecture and golden tones. There was something poetic about seeing them walk through that space—two people who had built a life together, now hand in hand in one of Adelaide’s most timeless locations.

On a sparkling Adelaide day with just the right touch of warmth, Nicole and Arlen brought their wedding vision to life with a Botanic Gardens Summerhouse Wedding surrounded by nature’s finest. He was joined by his groomsmen and parents, kicking things off in the sleek hotel room before we wandered downstairs for photos. We took full advantage of the outdoor lounge area, the shimmering hotel pool, and the breezy restaurant terrace overlooking the gardens. The whole space gave off a luxurious but relaxed feel – perfectly balancing the nerves and excitement that filled the air.

Meanwhile, Nicole was getting ready in a far more personal and homey setting – their own beautiful house. With her bridesmaids by her side and family buzzing about, the morning was filled with laughter, coffee runs, and those sweet in-between moments that really show the heart of a wedding day. Full of vibrant foliage, filtered light danced through the leaves, creating little pockets of magic that framed Nicole in the most ethereal way.

There’s something about photographing a bride in her own space – the layers of familiarity, comfort, and meaning wrapped into the walls. Her gown hung up beside the garden door, the bouquet resting near her favourite chair – it all felt so personal. The atmosphere was calm but giddy, the kind of energy that only builds when you know something really special is just around the corner.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens Summerhouse Wedding Ceremony

The Summerhouse in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens is a gem. With soft dappled light seeping through the trees and birdsong in the background, it doesn’t need much to feel utterly romantic. Nicole and Arlen’s ceremony was a beautiful example of less being more. With just the essentials in place and the natural surrounds doing the heavy lifting, the couple kept things short, sweet, and completely heartfelt.

Guests gathered beneath the canopy of trees, grateful for the shade as the sun poured through the leaves above. Their vows were exchanged with genuine smiles, a few happy tears, and more than a couple of laughs. It all flowed so naturally – no fuss, no drama – just pure, grounded joy. You could tell this wasn’t about ticking boxes; it was about sharing a real moment with the people who mattered most.

Glamour Photos

Post-ceremony, we headed deeper into the gardens for glamour shots, and the light was just dreamy. That late-afternoon sun filtered through the trees in all the right ways. We made a beeline for some of my favourite spots – the iconic line of elm trees leading up to the Friendship Gates is always a must. The couple strolled hand-in-hand, their silhouettes dancing across the path as golden light kissed the edges of the frame.

Of course, we couldn’t resist a stop by what I affectionately call the “Dr. Seuss tree” near the heritage-listed glasshouse – it always brings a bit of whimsy and quirk to the gallery. Nicole’s veil caught the breeze perfectly, and Arlen, ever the gentleman, helped guide it back down between laughs. The couple had such an easy, affectionate way with each other – nothing forced, just genuine chemistry captured against a fairytale backdrop.

Reception

As the sun dipped lower, it was time to shift gears from serene to celebratory. Nicole and Arlen chose The Herringbone in the city for their reception – and what an inspired choice it was. The venue oozes charm with its intimate courtyard, complete with a gorgeous tree growing right in the centre. Fairy lights wound around its trunk, casting a warm glow that made everything feel effortlessly romantic.

I didn’t stay too long into the evening, so I missed out on any formalities like speeches or a first dance. The vibe was beautifully understated, almost like a relaxed dinner party shared with close friends. Guests chatted freely, enjoying good company and great food in the intimate courtyard. The setting itself, with its cosy ambiance, carried the mood effortlessly. It was calm, genuine, and perfectly in tune with Nicole and Arlen’s laid-back style.
