Ash and Will’s Inman Valley Wedding was everything a wedding should be – real, joyful, and unapologetically them. From the sunlit vows under the peppercorn tree to the dust-kissed portraits and the wild, wonderful reception in the farm shed, every part of the day was infused with love, laughter, and a good dose of country charm. Once we’d wrapped up inside, we stepped into the city’s vibrant core for a short stroll and a mini photoshoot session with a twist of cheeky charm. Greg, being a bit camera-shy, took some coaxing—but that’s half the fun. We turned the session into a bit of a game, getting him to try a few poses that were slightly out of his comfort zone. Leaning against walls like a rockstar, pretending to strut like he owned the lane, even giving Milena a spontaneous twirl. It’s one of my favourite spots to take photos in the city. Even with the hustle and bustle below, the upper arcade is often quiet, offering an almost cinematic atmosphere. The Summerhouse in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens is a gem. With soft dappled light seeping through the trees and birdsong in the background, it doesn’t need much to feel utterly romantic. Nicole and Arlen’s ceremony was a beautiful example of less being more. With just the essentials in place and the natural surrounds doing the heavy lifting, the couple kept things short, sweet, and completely heartfelt.
Guests gathered beneath the canopy of trees, grateful for the shade as the sun poured through the leaves above. Their vows were exchanged with genuine smiles, a few happy tears, and more than a couple of laughs. It all flowed so naturally – no fuss, no drama – just pure, grounded joy. You could tell this wasn’t about ticking boxes; it was about sharing a real moment with the people who mattered most.

Post-ceremony, we headed deeper into the gardens for glamour shots, and the light was just dreamy. That late-afternoon sun filtered through the trees in all the right ways. We made a beeline for some of my favourite spots – the iconic line of elm trees leading up to the Friendship Gates is always a must. The couple strolled hand-in-hand, their silhouettes dancing across the path as golden light kissed the edges of the frame.
Of course, we couldn’t resist a stop by what I affectionately call the “Dr. Seuss tree” near the heritage-listed glasshouse – it always brings a bit of whimsy and quirk to the gallery. Nicole’s veil caught the breeze perfectly, and Arlen, ever the gentleman, helped guide it back down between laughs. The couple had such an easy, affectionate way with each other – nothing forced, just genuine chemistry captured against a fairytale backdrop.

Reception
As the sun dipped lower, it was time to shift gears from serene to celebratory. Nicole and Arlen chose The Herringbone in the city for their reception – and what an inspired choice it was. The venue oozes charm with its intimate courtyard, complete with a gorgeous tree growing right in the centre. Fairy lights wound around its trunk, casting a warm glow that made everything feel effortlessly romantic.
I didn’t stay too long into the evening, so I missed out on any formalities like speeches or a first dance. The vibe was beautifully understated, almost like a relaxed dinner party shared with close friends. Guests chatted freely, enjoying good company and great food in the intimate courtyard. The setting itself, with its cosy ambiance, carried the mood effortlessly. It was calm, genuine, and perfectly in tune with Nicole and Arlen’s laid-back style.
