Groups pile in, laughter spikes, and the dance floor fills instantly. Bethany and Shannon had a clever ulterior motive though. It was all part of a plan to get Bethany’s dad onto the dance floor.

And it worked.

Nikki and Matt’s celebration had that unmistakable destination feel, where every guest had made a conscious effort to be there, to soak in the landscape, and to share in something deeply meaningful. The rolling hills of McLaren Vale stretched endlessly in every direction, soft greens layered with vineyards that seemed to glow under the South Australian sun. It wasn’t just a backdrop—it became part of the story.

Nikki and Matt chose Beresford Estate with intention. Their connection to the region ran deeper than aesthetics. Matt’s morning unfolded at the base of the hill in the Beresford accommodation, tucked away just enough to feel private while still being part of the estate. One of the standout moments came with the reading of a letter Nikki had written to Matt. It shifted the energy in the room instantly. What had been light and relaxed became deeply reflective, grounded in emotion. You could feel the weight of the words as they landed. The boys moved through the rest of their preparation with ease—ties straightened, cufflinks fastened, jackets slipped on with quiet confidence. There’s always something special about watching groomsmen step into their roles, but this felt more personal, more intimate.

Nikki’s morning was set in one of the rooms just off the main reception area at Beresford Estate, a space that’s incredibly convenient for keeping everything close together. It allowed her to stay connected to the flow of the day without needing to travel, which is always a win. The room buzzed with a soft kind of excitement, shared between Nikki and her best friend as they moved through hair, makeup, and those final little details that bring everything together.

Photographically, it came with its challenges. The windows, usually a source of beautiful natural light, were constantly interrupted by guests passing by outside. We had to keep the curtains shut much of the time cutting out the natural light. It’s one of those real-world wedding quirks—something you adapt to on the fly. Even so, the energy in the room carried everything. Nikki looked incredible, composed and glowing, completely ready for what was ahead.

Before stepping out for the ceremony, there was an impromptu first look with her parents. Those unscripted moments often hold the most weight. Their reactions said everything. Pride, joy, a touch of disbelief at how quickly time had passed. It grounded Nikki in the moment, giving her a quiet pause before the next chapter of the day unfolded.

The ceremony space at Beresford Estate sits on a grassy area at the back of the property, framed by vineyards and open skies. It’s one of those locations that doesn’t need embellishment. Nature does the heavy lifting. Guests gathered with an easy energy, the kind that comes from being somewhere beautiful with people they care about. There was a sense of anticipation that built naturally as everyone took their seats.

A string quartet set the tone, their music drifting across the lawn as Nikki made her entrance. It added an elegant layer to the ceremony without overpowering it. Everything felt balanced. Glamour Photos

Following the ceremony, we moved into group photos and a handful of early glamour shots. The light was still high, which meant keeping things efficient and relaxed. No overcomplicating. Just capturing those key moments with family and friends while everyone was still gathered and full of that post-ceremony glow. These parts of the day often move quickly, but they’re essential in telling the full story.

The real focus for glamour photos was always going to be sunset – although on this day not much of the sun made an appearance. Beresford Estate offers so many incredible vantage points, but timing is everything. Instead of pulling Nikki and Matt away too early, we leaned into the flow of the day. Guests moved upstairs for an afternoon tea-style gathering on the rooftop, and it became one of the standout elements of the wedding.
