Following the ceremony, we moved into group photos and a handful of early glamour shots. The light was still high, which meant keeping things efficient and relaxed. No overcomplicating. Just capturing those key moments with family and friends while everyone was still gathered and full of that post-ceremony glow. The real focus for glamour photos was always going to be sunset – although on this day not much of the sun made an appearance. Beresford Estate offers so many incredible vantage points, but timing is everything. Instead of pulling Nikki and Matt away too early, we leaned into the flow of the day. Guests moved upstairs for an afternoon tea-style gathering on the rooftop, and it became one of the standout elements of the wedding.

The rooftop at Beresford is something special. It opens up to panoramic views of McLaren Vale, vineyards stretching in every direction. The light softens as the afternoon rolls on, creating the perfect conditions for relaxed, natural images. The space at Beresford Estate transformed as the evening settled in, warm lighting replacing the bright tones of the afternoon. It’s always one of the highlights of any Beresford wedding, and this was no exception.

That meant creating space for quiet moments in the morning, keeping photography efficient, and making sure the majority of the afternoon and evening could be spent mingling with family and friends. From a photographer’s perspective, days like this feel incredibly genuine. There’s room for real interactions, natural laughter, and the kind of candid moments that make wedding galleries feel alive years later.

Preparation Together

Caitlin and Carolyn began their wedding morning somewhere beautifully peaceful — a tiny home accommodation called CABN Melissa in McLaren Flat. Nestled amongst vineyards and native bushland, it offered exactly the quiet atmosphere they were hoping for. Instead of getting ready separately or surrounded by a crowd of excited relatives, the two of them chose to spend the morning side by side.

Before heading to the venue, we stepped outside for a short glamour session around the property. The landscape was far too beautiful to ignore. Gravel paths wound between the vines, patches of sunlight filtered through eucalyptus branches, and the natural tones of the bush provided a perfect backdrop. After their time at CaBN Melissa, we travelled to a family property known as Razorback Road Retreat. This was where the rest of their family were getting ready. The atmosphere there matched the tone of the day perfectly. Relaxed conversation. Laughter around the table. A simple lunch shared before the ceremony. Nothing rushed. Nothing overly formal. One of the wonderful things about a K1 Wines Wedding is how naturally the landscape frames the ceremony space. The sweeping lawns and lake in front of the K1 Winery Chateau create a setting that feels both expansive and intimate at the same time. It’s easy to see why couples are drawn to this location.

Caitlin and Carolyn had arranged for family photographs to take place before the ceremony began. This was a clever move. By completing these photos early, the couple ensured they wouldn’t need to disappear for long periods later in the afternoon. Glamour Photos

Although the day was intentionally designed to minimise time away from guests, it would have been impossible not to take advantage of the stunning scenery surrounding the venue. A K1 Wines Wedding offers endless photographic opportunities, and we managed to coax Caitlin and Carolyn away briefly for a few portraits around the grounds.

The property at K1 Wines feels like a collection of hidden gems. Winding paths lead to quiet corners of vineyard rows. A lake reflects the sky in soft ripples of blue and silver. Wooden bridges cross over water, while rolling hills stretch into the distance behind the property. Every direction seems to offer a new composition.

We kept the portrait session relaxed and efficient, moving through just a handful of the most scenic locations. The light in the late afternoon was soft and golden, filtering through the trees and bouncing off the water. Caitlin and Carolyn were completely at ease together. That comfort shows instantly in photographs — natural smiles, relaxed body language, and the quiet little glances couples exchange when they’re simply enjoying each other’s presence.

Because we had already taken photos earlier in the day at CaBN Melissa, there was no pressure to create an extensive portrait session here. That meant the couple could return to their guests quickly, which was exactly what they wanted. The portraits captured at K1 Wines were full of warmth and movement, reflecting both the landscape and the energy of the day.

Then came what might have been the shortest first dance I’ve ever photographed. The couple stepped onto the dance floor together, shared a quick spin, and almost immediately invited everyone else to join them. It was perfectly on-brand for their laid-back celebration. No long formalities. Just an open invitation for the party to begin.

From that moment on, the dance floor stayed busy. Friends and relatives filled the space, music pulsed through the room, and laughter echoed well into the night. Energy built steadily as the evening unfolded, transforming the relaxed daytime celebration into a vibrant party atmosphere.

The night wrapped up with a beautiful sparkler send-off. Guests lined up outside, sparklers glowing against the darkness as Caitlin and Carolyn ran through the tunnel of light. It was the perfect ending to a joyful day — bright, celebratory, and full of excitement for the future ahead.
