When Jamie and Connor chose to say “I do” at The Manor in Basket Range, they didn’t just pick a venue – they picked a slice of magic. Nestled in the picturesque hills of Adelaide, The Manor is known for its stunning gardens, rustic charm, and unique character. The day they selected for their wedding happened to be one of the sunniest, brightest days in living memory, which added an extra layer of beauty to their already breathtaking celebration.

Though bright sunlight can pose a challenge for photographers, this couple was up for anything. Their energy was contagious, and the whole day radiated with excitement and love. From their first look to the final toast, every moment at Jamie and Connor’s wedding was one for the books.

Pre-Ceremony Photoshoot

As any seasoned wedding photographer will tell you, taking photos in full midday sunlight isn’t always the easiest. The harsh midday sun can cause shadows, squinting, and hot spots that aren’t ideal for those timeless wedding photos. But, somehow, Jamie and Connor made it work – and in the best way possible!

As we wandered around The Manor’s gardens, it felt like we were in our own little world. The shade from the trees provided us with moments of relief from the direct sun, allowing us to take full advantage of every magical corner of the venue. We made sure to stop and take advantage of the lush surroundings, from the vibrant flowers blooming in the garden to the perfectly manicured lawns that framed the chapel in the distance.

We made sure to make the most of the small garden behind the chapel. Here, the sun’s angle was just right, making it the ideal spot for a few tender moments captured between Jamie and Connor. We couldn’t resist taking a stroll over to the orchard across the road, where the trees added an air of serenity to the photos. With each step, the couple’s love story unfolded beautifully in front of the lens, and the anticipation for the ceremony grew.

Basket Range Wedding Ceremony at the Manor

The ceremony itself was an absolute dream. The little chapel at The Manor provides the most charming backdrop for exchanging vows, and the couple couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting. Despite the challenges that come with bright sunlight, this stunning location never fails to deliver its best side. The bridal party took their places on the steps, and I positioned myself to capture every emotion as it unfolded – the joy, the anticipation, the love.

While the bright sun made it tricky to get the perfect shots of the entire bridal party, there was no shortage of moments to capture. The ceremony was filled with heartfelt speeches, shared laughter, and a few happy tears.

The heartfelt ceremony wrapped up with their first kiss as newlyweds and also a rather unique signing of their marriage certificate involving their dogs and ink on their paws! Was one of the best things I’ve ever seen!

Lunch time Reception

After the ceremony, everyone moved to the lower area of The Manor for a lovely lunch reception. While everyone was mingling, eating, and celebrating, I saw the opportunity to steal Jamie and Connor away once more for a few post-ceremony photos. The earlier part of the day had been sunny and bright, but now, as the afternoon began to settle in, the lighting became absolutely perfect for a few final shots.

We made our way back to the gardens, this time with the sun lower in the sky, casting a soft, warm light that made for stunning photos. It was the kind of light that made everything glow. Jamie and Connor, who had been so easygoing and fun throughout the entire day, were now more relaxed than ever, and their joy radiated in every shot.

Of course, we couldn’t resist a few playful shots with the bridal party, who had gathered for a celebratory group photo in front of the castle keep. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, their wedding felt like a fairytale come to life. I’ve been fortunate enough to capture countless weddings at The Manor Basket Range, but Shae and Dion’s celebration was a unique experience for me. Their ceremony took place in the venue’s lower event area, a more intimate space filled with character and warmth. It felt cozy and inviting, perfect for the personal, heartfelt ceremony they had planned. Meanwhile, Shae’s preparation had its share of excitement and little hiccups. In the main keep, the bridal suite buzzed with activity. The stunning room provided the perfect backdrop for Shae and her bridal party to get ready, but not without a few twists. At one point, there was a slight panic when the rings couldn’t be located. Thankfully, they were found in time, but it added a bit of drama to the morning. And let’s not forget the flower girl, who had her own opinion on getting dressed! A tiny bit of stress crept in, but Shae’s bridal party was incredible, rallying around her to keep her spirits high.

As the morning unfolded, everything came together beautifully. Shae looked absolutely radiant in her gown, and with a little liquid courage and the thought of walking down the aisle to Dion, any worries melted away. The energy shifted to excitement, with smiles and laughter filling the room. With her hair perfectly styled and makeup set, Shae was more than ready for the day. One of the sweetest moments of the day was the first touch between Shae and Dion. Standing abreast of the main keep’s grand door, the two held hands while sharing a shot of tequila. The ceremony itself was held indoors, a decision made due to the slight threat of rain. The rustic charm of the space only enhanced the atmosphere, with the stone walls and wooden accents creating a cozy, intimate environment. Their celebrant had everyone smiling, keeping the mood light while Shae and Dion shared their deeply personal vows. The emotions were raw and real, with not a dry eye in sight. The beauty of The Manor in Basket Range shone through, adding a historic, almost fairytale-like quality to the day.

After the ceremony, the couple took a short break to visit their reception space upstairs. It gave them a moment to breathe, to take in the day so far, and to soak in the fact that they were now officially married. The reception area was elegantly set up, with a mix of rustic touches and modern sophistication, ready to welcome their guests.

After the group phtos, and as the day’s light began to fade, we whisked Shae, Dion, and their bridal party outside for some glamour photos. The stunning grounds of The Manor provided the perfect backdrop. From the castle-like architecture to the rolling hills surrounding the property, every shot captured the timeless beauty of the Adelaide Hills. The sun setting behind the grand estate added a golden glow, highlighting the joy and love radiating from the newlyweds. It was the perfect setting for capturing the elegance and fun of their day.

The reception was held upstairs, where the celebration truly kicked off. The space was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and elegant table settings. The dancefloor was rarely empty, with everyone getting in on the fun. One of the most touching moments came during Shae and Dion’s last dance. Joined by their parents, they shared a beautiful moment together on the dancefloor, surrounded by love. As their guests waited outside for the sparkler send-off, the couple soaked in the final moments of their special day.

The Botanic Garden provided the perfect blend of nature’s elegance and city convenience, creating a serene oasis for a beautiful celebration.

The Botanic Garden is a dream venue for any couple wanting that balance between natural beauty and urban accessibility. With its lush greenery, towering trees, and blooming flora, it offers endless opportunities for incredible wedding photography. Ash and Sam couldn’t have chosen a more ideal spot, and it was a pleasure to capture their special day in this iconic Adelaide location.

Preparation

Sam started his big day in a chic penthouse apartment with sweeping views of the Adelaide skyline. The excitement was palpable as his groomsmen and family bustled around, preparing for the celebration. The apartment was the perfect spot for some pre-wedding fun, and Sam’s crew certainly took advantage of it. There was plenty of laughter, some light-hearted teasing, and, of course, a bit of chaos. Sam was the picture of calmness, despite his friends’ best efforts to get him riled up!

One of the highlights of the morning was an unexpected addition to the décor—an amusing piece of furniture shaped like an animal. Naturally, the groomsmen couldn’t resist incorporating it into the photos, resulting in some truly hilarious shots that perfectly captured the group’s lively energy. It wasn’t all play, though. Sam’s parents and siblings were there to lend a helping hand, making the morning both fun and family-focused.

Meanwhile, Ash was getting ready in the charming hills suburb of Stirling at an adorable bed and breakfast. The B&B had this delightful little sunroom at the front, and the light that streamed through the windows made for some of the most gorgeous dress photos. The property also boasted a picturesque garden, providing an idyllic backdrop for intimate pre-wedding moments.

As with most weddings, things ran just a tad behind schedule. Ash’s dad, ever the patient one, spent much of the morning sitting in his car out the front, grinning as he waited for the girls to finish getting ready. But when the time finally came for him to see Ash in her dress for the first time, the look on his face was priceless. That precious father-daughter moment made every second of waiting worthwhile. The love and pride radiating from him were a beautiful sight to behold, and we made sure to capture it in all its glory.

The soft, filtered sunlight through the trees gave the ceremony an ethereal glow, making the already emotional moments feel even more magical.

Ash and Sam’s ceremony was deeply personal, filled with anecdotes that highlighted their journey together. Their vows were heartfelt, eliciting more than a few happy tears from the gathered friends and family. The secluded setting, the personal stories, and the love between the two made for a perfect ceremony. The avenue of pine trees provided a stunning natural backdrop, and the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves was like nature’s blessing on their union.

Their expansive roots and towering branches make for truly stunning photographs. We were fortunate to have the sun hiding behind some soft clouds, allowing the trees to take center stage in the shots.

As we meandered through the garden, the love between Ash and Sam was evident in every glance, every laugh, and every touch. They were a joy to photograph, and the natural surroundings provided the perfect complement to their radiant happiness. Every corner of the Botanic Garden offered another beautiful backdrop, from the lush green lawns to the vibrant flower beds. The day concluded with a beautiful reception at Ayers House, one of Adelaide’s most historic and prestigious venues. Situated right on North Terrace, this grand mansion offers a striking contrast to the natural beauty of the Botanic Garden, providing an air of sophistication and old-world charm. Before the festivities began, we took the opportunity to capture a few photos outside the mansion, with its stately façade serving as a regal backdrop.

The reception took place in the stunning Conservatory, an enchanting glass-enclosed space that allows guests to dine beneath the stars. The room was beautifully decorated, with twinkling lights casting a soft glow over the celebrations. Speeches followed the meal, each one filled with heartfelt tributes to the happy couple. From the humorous tales to the tear-jerking moments, the speeches reflected the deep love and admiration everyone had for Ash and Sam.

As the night progressed, the dance floor filled with guests ready to celebrate. The energy was electric, and it was clear that this was a wedding full of joy and excitement. The evening ended on a high note with a romantic sparkler exit, as Ash and Sam made their way through a tunnel of sparkling lights, surrounded by their loved ones. The ceremony began in the late afternoon, with the soft Hillbank light filtering through the trees, casting a warm glow over the backyard. Leah and Haydn stood beneath a beautifully crafted Japanese-themed arbour, a touching nod to their dream of one day traveling to Japan together. Although life had taken them in a different direction, this little piece of their unfulfilled adventure brought the world they had imagined right into their own backyard.

Their vows were filled with tender moments as they reflected on their journey together. The way Leah looked at Haydn as she spoke, and the small smile that played on his lips, was something I’ll never forget. They both took their time to express not only their love but also the life they’ve built together, especially with the arrival of their little one. A Bluey-Themed Celebration for Their Little One

Once the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere immediately shifted into something more playful. With their little one’s first birthday falling on the same day, Leah and Haydn wanted to make sure it was just as special. Out came the Bluey-themed birthday cake, and the room filled with cheers and laughter. Their little one, in true toddler style, stole the show as he happily played with his dad’s cane, completely unaware of how much joy he was bringing to everyone around him.

The wedding cake was placed next to the Bluey cake, and together, Leah, Haydn, and their little one cut the cakes in unison.
