Templewood House Wedding – Michelle & Andrew

Michelle and Andrew’s Templewood House wedding was nothing short of enchanting. Tucked away in the rolling Adelaide Hills, this historic country lodge offered the perfect blend of old-world charm and natural beauty for their special day. With its grand architecture and sprawling landscapes, Templewood House felt like stepping into a timeless romance, where every room held whispers of the past and every garden path led to a new cherished memory.

This wedding venue isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a character in this love story. With its manicured gardens and the ability to personalise every moment, it’s as if Templewood House was waiting patiently for Michelle and Andrew’s day to shine. This Federation country house, dating back to 1901, stands proud on a 200-acre property with unspoilt views that are a photographer’s dream.

Prior to the ceremony

Arriving at Templewood House, you’re greeted by the stately driveway and ancient gums, a prelude to the beauty within. As I made my way up to the house, camera in hand, the excitement was palpable. Inside, Michelle was a vision of grace, surrounded by the warmth of heritage walls as she was being prepared. The soft clicks of my camera captured the laughter, the anticipation, and the gentle light spilling through the windows.

Meanwhile, Andrew, with a twinkle in his eye, was the picture of charm on the lawns. Greeting guests with a warmth that matched the sunny Adelaide hills, he was a host through and through. This is the magic hour for a photographer, those candid moments that speak volumes of the day ahead.

Templewood House Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was a symphony of simplicity and sincerity. Set against the tranquil Adelaide hills, Michelle and Andrew exchanged vows that were as heartfelt as they were profound. And then came the moment – the traditional unveiling of Michelle’s veil. It was a pause in time, a tender prelude to their first kiss as a married couple, forever etched in the frames I captured.

Surrounded by the rustic elegance of Templewood House, with its endless photo opportunities, their ceremony was a true testament to their love – unpretentious, deep, and joyously real.

Glamour Photos

After the “I dos” and group celebrations, we ventured around Templewood’s grounds. The bridal party, bless them, were ever so patient as I guided them into the long grass for that perfect shot. Their laughter and camaraderie made each click of the shutter a joy. You see, it’s not just about the photos; it’s the experience, the shared moments among the natural splendour of this equestrian property.

With sunlight casting a golden glow over the hills, we seized the moment, capturing love and laughter among the backdrop of Millbrook Reservoir Reserve’s finest vistas. And yes, the horse that joined us? Well, it seemed to approve, adding a touch of whimsical charm to our session.

Templewood House Wedding Reception

As the sun dipped lower, the reception unfolded with a warmth that only a family-operated venue like Templewood could host. Heartfelt speeches filled the air, and the smorgasbord of traditional desserts was a feast for the senses. A homemade cake, the centrepiece of this culinary celebration, was a marvel of sweetness and style.

Dancing under the stars, the chilly Adelaide Hills night was no match for the heat of the dance floor. The joy was infectious, and as their wedding photographer, I swirled around them, capturing every twirl, every smile, and the undeniable magic of the night.

As with every wedding, it isnt just about the photos; it was about capturing the essence of Michelle and Andrew’s day at Templewood House – a place where love, heritage, and natural beauty dance together in perfect harmony. And let me tell you, in the Adelaide Hills, there’s no better partner to this dance than Templewood House. What a celebration, what a day, and oh, what a venue!

Baby Cooper’s Newborn Photoshoot

Cooper and his parents recently came by for a photoshoot in my newly developed newborn photo studio, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! Skye and Brandon, Cooper’s parents, were a past bridal couple I had the pleasure of photographing at their wedding about 18 months ago. It was such a joy to see them again, this time with their little bundle of joy in tow.

Cooper is one of those babies who instantly melts your heart. From the moment we saw him, I knew we were going to have a fantastic session. His adorable button nose, tiny fingers, and his tiny frame just made his so adoreable! I couldn’t wait to capture his precious moments on camera and create memories that his parents would cherish forever.

Cooper was such a champ during the photoshoot, going along with all the little poses we had planned for him. He was calm, content, and absolutely stole the show with his cuteness. It’s moments like these that remind me why I adore working with newborns so much.

Cooper’s Newborn Photoshoot

During the session, we focused on creating a variety of setups and themes to showcase Cooper’s unique personality and bring out his irresistible charm. As he arrived fast asleep, we started with some cozy and intimate shots of him snuggled up in soft blankets, capturing his peaceful slumber. We then moved on to some playful setups, introducing a basket prop that added a touch of whimsy to the photos.

Cooper did not enjoy having his nice warm clothes taken off for a few shots, but once he was wrapped up again in the soft blankets he calmed down again and was very happy to sit there being cute.

As the session progressed, it was heartwarming to see Skye and Brandon’s eyes light up with every shot. Their love for baby Cooper was palpable, and their excitement was contagious. The bond between parents and their newborn is something truly magical, and I consider it an honor to capture those raw emotions and freeze them in time.

After Cooper’s newborn photoshoot, Skye and Brandon couldn’t stop expressing their gratitude. They were overjoyed to have these beautiful photographs as a reminder of this special phase in their lives. Knowing that I played a part in creating cherished memories for a family fills me with immense satisfaction and drives my passion for newborn photography even further.

Cooper’s newborn photoshoot was an incredible experience filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of adorable moments. I’m grateful to Skye and Brandon for choosing me to capture their precious memories and for allowing me to witness their journey as parents. Cooper is undeniably a lucky little boy to have such amazing parents, and I have no doubt that their love will continue to fill his life with endless joy.

Baby Charlize’s Newborn Photoshoot

There’s nothing quite like the joy of working with a newborn baby in your photography studio, and that’s exactly what I experienced when little baby Charlize came to visit. As a newborn photographer, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this precious little one and capture her early moments in life.

Charlize was just a few weeks old when she came to my studio, and she was a delight to work with. She was reasonably well behaved, particularly when she was in Dad’s arms and after she had a bit of a feed. This allowed us to create some beautiful images without any major disruptions.

One of the things that Charlize seemed to really enjoy was the soft, fluffy rugs that I had set up in my home studio. She looked so peaceful and content when we placed her on the rugs, and her tiny fingers and toes made for some adorable close-up shots. It was amazing to see how something as simple as a rug could make such a difference in creating a comfortable environment for Charlize.

I was excited to be using my newly developed newborn photo studio. The studio was specifically designed with newborns in mind, and it had everything we needed to create stunning images. I developed the space with the aim of using mainly natural light, filtering in through a simple white curtain backdrop, and a minimum of props which otherwise daws away from the natural emotions a little one shows.

It was a lot of fun to capture the beauty of Charlize and her newness to the world.

What I loved most about working with Charlize was the opportunity to create unique and memorable images that her family will cherish for years to come. From the close-up shots of her tiny feet to the peaceful sleeping poses, every image was a true work of art. And the fact that Charlize was such a happy and content little model made the experience even more enjoyable.

Newborn Photoshoot

Having baby Charlize as my model in my newly built newborn photo studio was an experience that I will always cherish. Her innocence, beauty, and peacefulness made for a perfect subject, and I am grateful for the opportunity to capture her early moments in life. Working with newborns is truly a special experience, and I can’t wait to see what other little ones will come through my studio for a newborn photoshoot in the future!

Recent Southern Adelaide Winter Minishoot Results!

Last weekend, I found myself with no weddings booked so I figured it would be neat to offer my services at a very cheap rate in what’s known as a ‘minishoot’ or mini session. It was one week prior to mother’s day so I figured it might be a fun way to get some nice photos of the family for Mum!

The best thing about a mini shoot is that it’s really geared for people who aren’t overly keen on being in front of a camera, as the session only lasts for 15 minutes – and if the photos dont turn out as expected – ie the little one was upset, or the dog wasn’t looking, etc – then it’s no big deal as it was not that expensive!

It’s also great for people who want some nice family photos done, but don’t want to spend too long getting them!

The mini shoot was an up front cost of $65, which included the shoot and editing of the photos before being supplied via my online store, and each shoot received a $30 credit to spend – making the whole thing effectively only $35 and you get to go home with either some prints, or digital files – however you’d like to spend that $30 credit!

As a result, the sessions booked up fast, with 12 bookings coming in – the majority being young couples, with little kidlets in tow, but also a few couples and whole families. I held the shoot at the Cherry Garden’s Soldier’s Memorial Gardens with the aim of using the autumnal colours from the falling leaves with the park, while also making use of the impressive memorial trees that cast quite a bit of shade.

Each booking received an average of 54 photos in their album to choose from – which surprised myself, as generally I like to have 100 photos done for an hour photo shoot, let alone 15 minutes – but I guess that’s the benefit of a minishoot, it means that i am familiar with the surrounds and know what will work when for each group coming through. I can then use this knowledge to move quickly and get each shot.

All in all, I think the winter minishoot results speak for themselves – the autumnal colours of the leaves, and the happy smiling faces of each group really made for an awesome experience, that I’d be looking forward to doing again in the future – I’m thinking Christmas? Watch this space.

Little Ones

All the little ones who came through were really well behaved and quite enjoyed being in front of the camera! This made things rather easy, as the surrounding autumn leaves did the rest making for some awesome shots!

Family

The autumn leaves also made for some nice family portraits. I had the family groups walking through the trees, sitting on the dry leaves and basically treating their time with me as if it were a quick family outing to a nice park.

As far as winter minishoot results go, I feel as though we got some incredible photos, using the stunning natural light that filtered through the autumn leaves nicely. If there was one thing I would have done differently would be to schedule the last session a biut earlier as the light was fading quite a bit – but we still got some great shots!

6 Important Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

There’s nothing more perfect than seeing and holding your baby the first time. That moment is unbeatable, and it instantly fills your heart with such ecstatic emotion. Most parents say that babies grow insanely fast and that you should cherish those newborn moments so you better take their advice and capture every detail while they’re still a tiny little bundle!

Before you know it, they’ll soon become toddlers and teenagers that won’t fit in your arms anymore. Their tiny toes, wrinkly skin, heart-melting yawns and tiny little bodies will soon be just a memory. For this reason, you should make those memories vivid, and that’s where a photoshoot becomes essential for your newborn baby.

Preparing for a Newborn Photography Session

Now, before heading out to the studio and meeting your photographer, you should ensure that you and your baby are ready. You wouldn’t want to go there without knowing the right things to prepare. This big occasion will be memorable for your whole family, so it involves proper planning and preparation, so heres a simple little list of things to do before your newborn photoshoot.

6 Important Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

Here are essential things to do before your newborn photoshoot to help you prepare and ensure a smooth, successful session, capturing the perfect moments with your little one.

  1. Schedule the Photo Session in Advance

Keep in mind that most photographers prefer to do newborn photography sessions when infants are between 5 and 14 days. During this time the little one is easier to move about with getting too upset about new surroundings, and would be easier to time a period while they are asleep.

Even if your baby is not born yet, you should already schedule their photoshoot. This appointment will give you and the photographer ample time to arrange everything you need before the shoot. In addition, you wouldn’t be worried that there will be no photographer available during the first 14 days of your baby because you have already booked ahead of time.

It is advisable to source out or advise your preferred photographer while you’re in your second trimester. Let them know of your due date so they can block off their calendar for your baby’s photography session.

  1. Keep Your Baby Awake Before the Photoshoot Starts

While it may be good to capture photos of your baby while they are awake, you may have a hard time if their mood is not so great. A great tip to make the photo session as calm and easy as possible is to keep your baby awake before it starts. This way, they’ll doze off during the shoot. It’s better for a photographer to capture your baby’s peaceful, adorable state instead of their enraged, red-faced, just-finished-crying face. When they’re asleep during the shoot, you’ll have photos of a peaceful and charming baby in cute poses.

  1. Ensure Your Baby Is Full 20-30 Minutes Before the Session

Again, a baby crying out loud during the shoot is a bad idea because the pictures may not turn out the way you want. Keeping them full before the shoot will help avoid this kind of situation, and it will also help them sleep while the photoshoot is happening. You must feed and burp them right before the session so they’ll cry less, sleep better and create a calm studio environment for everyone involved during the shoot. Feeding your baby 20-30 minutes before will also help them last a two-hour shoot.

baby feet

  1. Dress Them in Easy-to-Take-Off Clothes

Most photographers prefer a naked baby while doing the photoshoot to allow them to get every angle of their tiny body. As a parent, you must choose easy-to-take-off clothes before you head to the venue so it’ll be less of a hassle when it’s time for their session. Easy-to-take-off garments will also help to not disrupt their sleep cycle and avoid crying. Aside from that, you can change your baby’s nappy into a loose type, so when the photographer undresses them, they won’t have diaper marks on their skin in the picture.

  1. Advise Your Photographer Regarding the Location of the Shoot

Usually, photoshoots are held in a studio, but some photographers conduct newborn photography sessions wherever you feel most comfortable as a parent. Perhaps, you want to hold the shoot in your own home for convenience or have a preferred location out of town.

Whatever the case, you must tell your photographer in advance so they can prepare proper lighting and setup according to the location. When you decide to choose an outdoor location, elements will be less controlled since the weather can be unpredictable. There are only specific times when they can utilise natural light. By informing them of your location preferences ahead of time, they can give you high-quality rendered photos of your baby.

  1. Trust the Photographer

It’s normal to feel nervous and anxious while your baby is doing the photo session. However, you don’t need to worry because a professional photographer knows what they’re doing and is good at doing their job. Let them take care of your baby while on the shoot, and trust them to handle your baby well during the session.

If you cannot ease your mind, it’s better to reach out to the photographer and let them know your worries. If you still feel uncomfortable at any point during the shoot, let your photographer know right away because, after all, it’s still your baby, and it’s crucial that you both feel comfortable.

baby ellie on shoudler
baby ellie on shoudler

When it comes to photoshoots for newborn babies, timing is everything, and safety always comes first. In order to have a successful session, ensure your baby is safe and comfortable so you’ll also feel relaxed during the shoot. In addition, having incredible newborn photographs is all about having the best photographer behind the lens. Your photographer will significantly influence how you can make the memories of your newborn fresh in your mind even after a long time. They will be the ones to tell the story of your precious newborn through their photography skills.

At Sven Studios, we ensure that our years of experience translate in the way we do each baby photoshoot. We offer a professional newborn photography service that allows parents to remember their baby’s infant stage through perfectly captured images. hopefully this little list of things to do before your newborn photoshoot was helpful, and we invite you to schedule your newborn photo sessions in Adelaide with us today!
