An Adelaide Hills wedding at The Manor Basket Range is always a stunning experience, and Shae and Dion’s celebration perfectly captured the venue’s charm, history, and rustic elegance. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, their wedding felt like a fairytale come to life. The soft cloud cover added a magical glow, making each moment of their Adelaide Hills wedding at The Manor feel even more romantic and unforgettable.

I’ve been fortunate enough to capture countless weddings at The Manor Basket Range, but Shae and Dion’s celebration was a unique experience for me. Their ceremony took place in the venue’s lower event area, a more intimate space filled with character and warmth. It felt cozy and inviting, perfect for the personal, heartfelt ceremony they had planned. The atmosphere was full of excitement, love, and just the right amount of nerves, creating an energy that carried throughout the day.

Preparation

Dion and his groomsmen had a lively start to their day. Located at one end of The Manor’s grand castle complex, the boys took full advantage of the relaxed vibes in the air. Laughter echoed through the stone walls as they dressed and shared jokes, keeping the mood light. The star of the show, however, was the couple’s page boy, who stole everyone’s heart with his adorable antics. The groomsmen were utterly charmed, making sure he was entertained with phone snippets and plenty of attention while they finished preparing.

Ready to meet the love of his life at the aisle, Dion’s excitement was palpable. Even with all the playful banter, there was an undercurrent of emotion, adding depth to an already incredible start.

Meanwhile, Shae’s preparation had its share of excitement and little hiccups. In the main keep, the bridal suite buzzed with activity. The stunning room provided the perfect backdrop for Shae and her bridal party to get ready, but not without a few twists. At one point, there was a slight panic when the rings couldn’t be located. Thankfully, they were found in time, but it added a bit of drama to the morning. And let’s not forget the flower girl, who had her own opinion on getting dressed! A tiny bit of stress crept in, but Shae’s bridal party was incredible, rallying around her to keep her spirits high.

As the morning unfolded, everything came together beautifully. Shae looked absolutely radiant in her gown, and with a little liquid courage and the thought of walking down the aisle to Dion, any worries melted away. The energy shifted to excitement, with smiles and laughter filling the room. With her hair perfectly styled and makeup set, Shae was more than ready for the day. First Touch and Look

One of the sweetest moments of the day was the first touch between Shae and Dion. Standing abreast of the main keep’s grand door, the two held hands while sharing a shot of tequila. The ceremony itself was held indoors, a decision made due to the slight threat of rain. The rustic charm of the space only enhanced the atmosphere, with the stone walls and wooden accents creating a cozy, intimate environment. Their celebrant had everyone smiling, keeping the mood light while Shae and Dion shared their deeply personal vows. The emotions were raw and real, with not a dry eye in sight. The beauty of The Manor in Basket Range shone through, adding a historic, almost fairytale-like quality to the day.

After the ceremony, the couple took a short break to visit their reception space upstairs. It gave them a moment to breathe, to take in the day so far, and to soak in the fact that they were now officially married. The reception area was elegantly set up, with a mix of rustic touches and modern sophistication, ready to welcome their guests.

After the group phtos, and as the day’s light began to fade, we whisked Shae, Dion, and their bridal party outside for some glamour photos. The stunning grounds of The Manor provided the perfect backdrop. From the castle-like architecture to the rolling hills surrounding the property, every shot captured the timeless beauty of the Adelaide Hills. The sun setting behind the grand estate added a golden glow, highlighting the joy and love radiating from the newlyweds. It was the perfect setting for capturing the elegance and fun of their day.

The reception was held upstairs, where the celebration truly kicked off. The space was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and elegant table settings. Shae and Dion entered to the sound of cheers and applause, ready to dance the night away. Their first dance was a true showstopper, with a dry ice machine creating a cloud-like effect on the dancefloor. It was pure magic, with the couple spinning and swaying in what seemed like a dream.

The speeches that followed were heartfelt and filled with laughter, as friends and family shared stories and well-wishes for the happy couple. The dancefloor was rarely empty, with everyone getting in on the fun. One of the most touching moments came during Shae and Dion’s last dance. Joined by their parents, they shared a beautiful moment together on the dancefloor, surrounded by love. As their guests waited outside for the sparkler send-off, the couple soaked in the final moments of their special day.

The day was filled with joy, laughter, and some of the most picturesque locations Adelaide has to offer. The Botanic Garden provided the perfect blend of nature’s elegance and city convenience, creating a serene oasis for a beautiful celebration.

The Botanic Garden is a dream venue for any couple wanting that balance between natural beauty and urban accessibility. With its lush greenery, towering trees, and blooming flora, it offers endless opportunities for incredible wedding photography. Ash and Sam couldn’t have chosen a more ideal spot, and it was a pleasure to capture their special day in this iconic Adelaide location.

Preparation

Sam started his big day in a chic penthouse apartment with sweeping views of the Adelaide skyline. The excitement was palpable as his groomsmen and family bustled around, preparing for the celebration. The apartment was the perfect spot for some pre-wedding fun, and Sam’s crew certainly took advantage of it. There was plenty of laughter, some light-hearted teasing, and, of course, a bit of chaos. Sam was the picture of calmness, despite his friends’ best efforts to get him riled up!

One of the highlights of the morning was an unexpected addition to the décor—an amusing piece of furniture shaped like an animal. Naturally, the groomsmen couldn’t resist incorporating it into the photos, resulting in some truly hilarious shots that perfectly captured the group’s lively energy. It wasn’t all play, though. Sam’s parents and siblings were there to lend a helping hand, making the morning both fun and family-focused.

Meanwhile, Ash was getting ready in the charming hills suburb of Stirling at an adorable bed and breakfast. The B&B had this delightful little sunroom at the front, and the light that streamed through the windows made for some of the most gorgeous dress photos. The property also boasted a picturesque garden, providing an idyllic backdrop for intimate pre-wedding moments.

As with most weddings, things ran just a tad behind schedule. Ash’s dad, ever the patient one, spent much of the morning sitting in his car out the front, grinning as he waited for the girls to finish getting ready. But when the time finally came for him to see Ash in her dress for the first time, the look on his face was priceless. That precious father-daughter moment made every second of waiting worthwhile. The love and pride radiating from him were a beautiful sight to behold, and we made sure to capture it in all its glory.

Nestled amongst towering pine trees, this spot feels like a hidden gem, secluded enough to make the moment feel intimate but grand in its natural beauty. The soft, filtered sunlight through the trees gave the ceremony an ethereal glow, making the already emotional moments feel even more magical.

Ash and Sam’s ceremony was deeply personal, filled with anecdotes that highlighted their journey together. Their vows were heartfelt, eliciting more than a few happy tears from the gathered friends and family. The secluded setting, the personal stories, and the love between the two made for a perfect ceremony. The avenue of pine trees provided a stunning natural backdrop, and the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves was like nature’s blessing on their union.

After the ceremony, we wandered through the gardens for some glamour photos, taking full advantage of the Botanic Garden’s diverse scenery. One of the standout spots was the iconic Moreton Bay fig trees in nearby Botanic Park. These majestic trees are a favorite for wedding photographers, and for good reason! Their expansive roots and towering branches make for truly stunning photographs. We were fortunate to have the sun hiding behind some soft clouds, allowing the trees to take center stage in the shots.

As we meandered through the garden, the love between Ash and Sam was evident in every glance, every laugh, and every touch. They were a joy to photograph, and the natural surroundings provided the perfect complement to their radiant happiness. Every corner of the Botanic Garden offered another beautiful backdrop, from the lush green lawns to the vibrant flower beds. Their photos turned out beautifully, capturing both their love story and the timeless elegance of the Adelaide Botanic Garden.

Ayer’s House Wedding Reception

The day concluded with a beautiful reception at Ayers House, one of Adelaide’s most historic and prestigious venues. Situated right on North Terrace, this grand mansion offers a striking contrast to the natural beauty of the Botanic Garden, providing an air of sophistication and old-world charm. Before the festivities began, we took the opportunity to capture a few photos outside the mansion, with its stately façade serving as a regal backdrop.

The reception took place in the stunning Conservatory, an enchanting glass-enclosed space that allows guests to dine beneath the stars. The room was beautifully decorated, with twinkling lights casting a soft glow over the celebrations. Speeches followed the meal, each one filled with heartfelt tributes to the happy couple. From the humorous tales to the tear-jerking moments, the speeches reflected the deep love and admiration everyone had for Ash and Sam.

As the night progressed, the dance floor filled with guests ready to celebrate. The energy was electric, and it was clear that this was a wedding full of joy and excitement. The evening ended on a high note with a romantic sparkler exit, as Ash and Sam made their way through a tunnel of sparkling lights, surrounded by their loved ones. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot – Sam & Wayne

Sam and Wayne’s The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot was nothing short of magical! As a photographer who’s shot around 10 weddings here this year alone, I know every nook and cranny of this historic castle-like venue. But this shoot had something special—a quiet, almost serene atmosphere as Sam and Wayne had booked a room for a public holiday. With no weddings on that day, they had the entire place to themselves, creating a uniquely intimate experience for their engagement photos.

It’s rare to see The Manor so quiet. Usually, it’s bustling with wedding guests, vendors, and celebrations, but on this day, it felt like their own private castle. The only slight hiccup was not being able to fully access the iconic Romeo and Juliet balcony. But with a bit of clever positioning and perhaps a little post-editing magic, we still captured stunning moments that made it feel as if the whole venue was at their disposal. The weather played along perfectly, too, with a soft golden light filtering through the clouds, giving us that dreamy, glowing backdrop photographers love!

Taking Advantage of Golden Hour

We started the shoot in one of my favourite spots at The Manor—behind the chapel in the garden. The sunlight was at just the right angle, peeking through the trees and casting a warm, golden glow over the couple. The way Sam and Wayne looked at each other, bathed in that soft light, was pure magic. You could feel their connection through the camera. It’s moments like these that make engagement photography so rewarding.

After soaking up the garden vibes, we wandered towards the front of the castle. The grand stone architecture framed Sam and Wayne perfectly, making them look like royalty for a day. The timing couldn’t have been better—the sun continued to dance between clouds, casting everything in a light that photographers dream about. Sam’s smile, Wayne’s relaxed demeanor—they were a perfect fit for this timeless location.

A Picturesque Stroll Through The Orchard

Next on our agenda was a stop at The Manor’s orchard, which was in full bloom. The pops of fresh white blossoms against the deep greenery made for some incredibly romantic photos. Sam was absolutely glowing in her dress as she walked through the rows of trees hand-in-hand with Wayne. The atmosphere was calm, almost ethereal, and you could feel the love and anticipation for their future wedding.

Sam and Wayne were naturals in front of the camera, needing very little direction. Their joy and love for each other shone through every shot. The blooming orchard not only provided a stunning visual backdrop but also added a sense of fresh beginnings—perfect for an engagement shoot. And with Wayne making Sam laugh between shots, it was easy to capture their candid moments that truly tell the story of their relationship.

A Dramatic Outfit Change: The Black Dress

After spending some time in the orchard, Sam did a quick change into a striking black dress, bringing a whole new vibe to the shoot. The contrast between the classic, soft colors of the surroundings and her bold outfit choice made for some dramatic and memorable shots. The Manor’s stone walls and grand architecture created the perfect setting for this darker, more modern look.

We used the castle’s winding staircases, stone archways, and shadowy corners to capture a different side of Sam and Wayne’s personalities. The black dress added an element of sophistication and mystery to the photos, contrasting beautifully with the more casual, joyful vibe from earlier in the day. Sam’s confidence in this outfit was radiant, and Wayne couldn’t keep his eyes off her!
