DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

MARRIED AT SNEAKY’S, ANGLE VALE

Kirsty and Christopher agree that they wouldn’t change a thing about their
big day as it was “perfection”.
After two years of planning, Kirsty says she loved every step of the process
from picking out vendors to organising decorations.
“We were very blessed that nothing went wrong and all our first-choice
vendors were available for our date,” Kirsty says.
The couple’s wedding was full of highlights from their early morning
wake-up call to dancing into the wee hours of the morning.
“I think the biggest highlight is having your loved ones there helping you
celebrate the best day of your life,” Kirsty says.
The reception featured an incredible Italian-inspired menu featuring
pizza, arancini and meatballs. The pair cut into a delicious white chocolate
and raspberry cake from Lee’s Cakes.
DJ Tommy T from Signature Entertainment brought the ultimate party
vibes, as well as a photo booth, light-up letters and a smoke machine to
bring an extra level of romance to the newlywed’s first dance.
“Our first dance was a mashup of First Dancin by 2 Lane Summer and I
Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith,” Kirsty says.
Kirsty and Christopher’s love story started with a swipe after matching on
Tinder in 2019. Christopher popped the question while the couple were
spending the weekend binge-watching the Harry Potter series. “He kept
walking in and out of the lounge room and I thought he was sick but turns
out he was just super nervous, but it was the easiest yes I’ve ever said,”
Kirsty remembers.
The pair honeymooned in the Whitsundays, and also visited Brisbane and
Airlie Beach.
Kirsty, 30, is the daughter of Paul and Shirley Ortmann, of Happy Valley,
and Christopher, 32, is the son of David Bligh, of Enfield, and Kristy Night
of Paralowie.

Adelaide’s Sunday Mail Spotlights Emily & Andrew’s Wedding

As a wedding photographer, each ceremony I capture is a unique narrative of love, a single day filled with countless, irreplaceable moments. Yet, every so often, a wedding comes along that not only marks the union of two souls but also captures the imagination of a wider audience. Such was the case with a recent celebration I had the honor of photographing, which garnered the attention of none other than Adelaide’s Sunday Mail in their November 5th, 2023 edition.

The setting for this enchanting day was the picturesque Adelaide Hills at the House on Haines, where unfortunately the weather wasn’t overly kind for this lovely couple, but the smile certainly brightened everyone’s day regardlesss. It was here, amid the whispers of the eucalyptus and the elegance of the sprawling estates, that our couple, Emily and Andrew, chose to exchange their vows.

The photographs captured throughout the day more than just the aesthetics of a well-planned wedding; they encapsulated the essence of Emily and Andrew’s bond, a narrative so compelling that it caught the eye of Adelaide’s Sunday Mail. It was a thrill to see the images featured, not just for the professional recognition but because it signified that the magic of that day resonated with others as profoundly as it had with me.

Fateful night led to love

Emily Beckett and Andrew Caridi

Married at House on Haines, tea Tree Gully

Emily and Andrew’s wedding was a fun day filled with many personal touches, including a cake based on their favourite video game and a Millenium Falcon guest book.

Duo Cake Design made the whimsical custom cake, featuring the couple dressed in vault suits from the video game Fallout.

The couple’s two pooches, toy poodle Lucy and golden retriever Luna, had the very important role of being ring bearers for the day, something the couple say they couldn’t have had their special day without.

Emily’s dress, a fitted floor length gown with a plunging v neck, was picked from the Bride Lab.

Emily and Andrew mee 10 years ago through old friends and had been talking over Facebook before deciding to meet again.

“The night we did my car got hit by a road train, thankfully my friend and I were OK,” Emily says.

“We pulled over and my now husband chased the truck to his depot in Port Adelaide and we met them there. Since that day we have been inseparable.”

After being together for five years, and leaving Emily to think it was never going to happen, Andrew finally proposed.

“I had planned a weekend away at Stirling, we went out to dinner and then we went for a walk down to the park and he proposed within the gazebo,” Emily says.

“My reaction was full of happiness, I hugged him before I gave him an answer and before he stood up, faily sure I suffocated him a bit.”

The couple jetted off to see the sights of Japan for their hooneymoon.

Emily, 29, is the daughter of Martin and Leanne Beckett, of Blakeview, and Andrew, 29, is the son of Rita and Bill Sargeant, of Ingle Farm.

Ritamaree Varricchio &

Sydney Sparrow

Married at Sunnybrae Dunction Centre, followed by a celebration at the Donato Reception Centre

PEONY-loving bride Ritamaree chose the date for her marriage to Sydney based on when her favourite flower would be in bloom.

“I wanted peonies… yes, I based my entire wedding around these flowers,” she laughs.

“I also wanted a cake that would showcase some beautiful pink peonies and Rebecca (Rebecca’s Cakes) made this dream come true.”

The couple opted to have their ceremony, officiated by celebrant Annette Perry, in the pavilion at Sunnybrae Estate, which they say is a first, moving to an indoor location for their reception, sharing the special occasion with 170 guests.

Photos were taken in the garden at each venue, as well as Port Adelaide’s wool stores.

“Sydney used to live in Port Adelaide and the very first time we drove past (the wool stores) together he told me that we would take our wedding photos there.” she says.

Social Worker Ritamaree, 27, the daughter of Dernancourt’s Elisa and Silvio Varricchio, pays tribute to her sister and matron of honour Cassandra whom she says she couldn’t have done it without, in the lead-up to her specil day.

Cassandra was joined in the bridal party by bridesmaids Chelsea Marks and Medica Eliepa and Ritamaree’s godson, Miliano Di Pinto.

Sydney had two best men, Ashley Olsen and Kieran McCutcheon, accompanied by the bride’s brother, Luciano Varricchio, as a groomsman.

Draftsman Sydney, 29, proposed to Ritamaree, who he met on dating app Tinder seven years earlier, in the rose garden at the Adelaide Botanic Garden.

The couple plan to honeymoon in the US later this year.

Recent Sunday Mail Wedding Feature

Occasionally, the a wedding I photograph are given the honor of a Sunday Mail wedding feature – the Sunday Mail is a publication circulated around South Australia affiliated with the Advertiser. It’s a really neat occurrence when one of my weddings are covered by the largest newspaper publication in South Australia, especially when they dedicate 3/4 of a page in their weddings section! The wedding they chose to cover was Sheree and Shane’s wedding at the Glen Ewin Gatehouse which was highlighted by their use of wonderfully white horse and carriage!

Sunday Mail Wedding Feature Excerpt

You never know when a seemingly minor decision will change the course of your life forever. Just ask Sheree and Shane, who met at a 40th birthday party they both nearly didn’t attend. That fateful event was at the Riverland in March 2014, and the couple have been together ever since. They got engaged during a holiday in Hawaii.

We hired a convertible for the day, a Mustang, and it was the only day it rained,” the bride said, with a laugh. “We went to Turtle Bay and  Shane proposed in front of the beach while the sun was setting.”

The couple held both ceremony and reception for 60 guests at Glen Ewin Estate in Houghton.

“We liked that it was very intimate and the staff were just wonderful,” Sheree said of the popular venue. “We also really liked that everything was there at the one place – and it wasn’t too far from the city – you feel like you’re far away but you’re not really.”

At the ceremony, the bride made a grand entrance with her father on a horse-drawn carriage. “It was such a highlight of the day,” the bride said, adding that the whole event was very family focused.

“Shane’s daughter, Abbie, and my niece, Ava, were my two junior bridesmaids and they did a special dance for us at our reception – that was really special. “They (the kids) just had a ball. By the end of the night their hair was everywhere … it was the cutest thing ever.”

The newlyweds cut a three-tiered cake by Lou-Lou Belle Cakes. Bridesmaid was Sofia Milojkovic and the groom’s daugher Abbie Coles was junior bridesmaid with the bride’s niece, Ava Field. Flower girls were Tori Barr and Asha Armet. Best man was Rebel McCloy, while groomsmen were the bride’s son, Blake Field-Bond, and the groom’s son, Lachlan Coles. Sheree is the daughter of Jim and Maxine Field, of Fullarton. Shane is the son of Gary and Sue Coles, of Redwood Park.
