Pt Noarlunga Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot – Jess & Jack

When Jess and Jack first shared their love story with me during our meeting at White Hill Estate, I knew their wedding was going to be one to remember. Their connection was vibrant, and their adventurous spirits were magnetic. As avid free divers, they spoke about their shared love for the ocean, and it wasn’t long before the idea of an underwater wreck the dress shoot came to life. With my own passion for having a fun time behind a camera like this, The day after their wedding, we brought this unique concept to the crystal-clear waters off Pt Noarlunga.

Jess and Jack were game for anything, and their playful energy made this experience unforgettable. Before diving into the ocean, we started with some fun shots along the shoreline. There’s nothing quite like the image of a bride’s gown catching the waves, creating a dramatic, flowing effect that feels almost otherworldly. From splashing through the surf to Jack cheekily scooping Jess up before tossing her into the shallows, it was pure joy captured through the lens.

Beachside Photoshoot

Pt Noarlunga is a treasure for beach photography. Its golden sands and rugged jetty offer a perfect backdrop for candid moments and romantic portraits. As the sun rose, Jess and Jack’s newlywed glow shone even brighter. Their laughter filled the salty air as they played like kids along the water’s edge, their love evident in every glance and touch.

We started with some light-hearted shots to ease into the shoot. Jess’s gown – technically NOT the one she had worn the day earlier, contrasted beautifully against the soft blues and whites of the coastline. Jack was dressed in his full suit however, adding to the romantic vibe of the shoot. The highlight? Capturing the waves fanning out her dress like a mermaid’s tail, a moment that combined elegance with the raw power of nature.

It was actually this shot which I had taken at a previous wreck the dress shoot that prompted Jess and Jack to get in contact and have me shoot their wedding! So any other adventurous souls out there wanting to do something outrageous for your wedding shoot, hit me up!

Pt Noarlunga’s beach setting provided dynamic opportunities for creativity. The interplay of sunlight and water created dazzling reflections, and we used every angle to capture the couple’s chemistry. Whether framed against the expansive sky or the foaming surf, their photos were a celebration of love and freedom.

Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot

Diving into the waters of Pt Noarlunga was the next-level adventure we’d all been waiting for. The sun, which had hidden behind clouds on their wedding day, now shone brightly, illuminating the ocean with clarity and warmth. Still, the water was brisk, so we kept the session short but sweet, ensuring every moment counted. For safety and guidance, I brought along a skilled dive team, including the incredible Diana Fernie, who brought expertise and calm to the shoot.

Underwater shoots are a mix of art and science. Timing, positioning, and lighting are crucial, and Jess and Jack were naturals. They dove effortlessly, their movements slow and dreamlike, giving the camera a chance to capture their underwater waltz. Jess’s wedding gown—altered slightly for practicality—moved like liquid poetry, enhanced subtly in post-production to recreate the sweeping elegance of her wedding day dress.

Wreck-the-dress shoots are about more than just photos—they’re about capturing the essence of a couple’s journey. For Jess and Jack, the ocean is their shared sanctuary, a place where they’ve built countless memories together. To bring their wedding celebration into this environment was deeply meaningful, and it showed in every shot. Their love was playful yet profound, adventurous yet anchored, and this shoot reflected it all.

The session wrapped up with both exhilaration and relief as we climbed back onto the shore. Jess and Jack were shivering but smiling, thrilled by the experience. While the water had been chilly, the warmth of their connection radiated through every image. They thanked the dive team and myself for helping bring their dream to life, but truthfully, it was my honor to work with such a bold and inspiring couple.

From the lively beachside moments to the surreal underwater portraits, the underwater wreck the dress shoot images were as dynamic and unique as Jess and Jack themselves. They weren’t just photos—they were a testament to a love that’s willing to dive deep, both figuratively and literally.

Pt Noarlunga Family Shoot

Capturing the essence of family is an art form, and as a Southern Adelaide Photographer, I had the joy of embarking on a Pt Noarlunga Family Shoot. The day couldn’t have been more perfect for photography, with the sun casting a warm, golden hue across the sands. Pt Noarlunga, renowned for its picturesque scenery and the vibrancy of Onkaparinga, was buzzing with life. It’s a popular spot during the Christmas and New Year’s break, drawing crowds eager to soak up the sun and the festive spirit. But, not to worry – my trusty Photoshop skills came in handy to ensure that the focus remained solely on the delightful family I was photographing.

The decision to choose Pt Noarlunga beach was thoughtful, considering the accessibility for grandma and grandpa. The proximity to the boat ramp made it easier for them to be close to the water, an aspect that added a serene backdrop to our photoshoot. Under the jetty, we found ourselves in a different world – the crisscrossing wooden beams above created a beautiful pattern, adding a unique texture to the pictures. It was like capturing moments in a hidden treasure of Adelaide.

Photographing each individual family, the kids together, and the parents, I witnessed the bond that tied them all together. The laughter, the shared glances, and the unspoken love were palpable. It was fascinating to see how each family had its own dynamic and personality, which I aimed to bring out in each photograph. The children, especially, were a delight to work with. Their unbridled energy and innocence were infectious, making the shoot not just a job but a genuinely enjoyable experience.

The two older boys had a spark of creativity in them. They wanted to incorporate a bit of fantasy into their shoot. And what better way to do this than with a Star Wars-themed lightsaber duel? The boys brandished their imaginary lightsabers, and with a bit of post-production magic, I brought their battle to life. These moments of playful imagination are what make family shoots so special – they’re not just about capturing faces but also about capturing spirits and dreams.

Of course, every shoot has its challenges. The bright sun, while perfect for a day out, can be a photographer’s nemesis. Squinting eyes are often unavoidable, but with a bit of positioning and timing, I managed to capture everyone with their best, sun-kissed faces forward. The key, I find, in such situations is to keep the mood light and fun. It’s amazing how a good laugh can relax the eyes and bring out natural smiles.

Building a rapport with a family you’ve just met is no small feat, especially when you’re seen as the “wierdo” with the camera. But, part of the joy in what I do lies in breaking down those initial barriers. By engaging with the family, cracking jokes, and sometimes making a fool of myself, I ensure everyone feels comfortable. It’s these little moments of connection that allow me to capture the family in their most natural and relaxed state.

This Pt Noarlunga Family Shoot was more than just a day at the beach; it was an adventure, a series of moments woven into the fabric of a family’s life. As a photographer in Southern Adelaide, I treasure these experiences – they remind me of the beauty and diversity that this part of Australia offers. Whether it’s the laughter of children, the gentle waves of the Onkaparinga, or the warm embrace of a family, each shoot brings with it a story worth telling and memories worth cherishing.

Beresford Estate Wedding – Sonya & Jeff

It was a rather overcast day for Sonya and Jeff’s Beresford Estate wedding, amongst the stunning vineyards of Mclaren Vale!

The rain was threatening, but it held off just long enough for their ceremony on the back lawn of this beautiful establishment and this seemed to be the only hiccup throughout this stunning day!

Preparation

Both Sonya and Jeff were being prepared at opposite ends of the main reception hall in separate – but connected self contained apartments – which made the morning that much easier for all involved.

Sonya was having her makeup done, while Jeff was running about putting finishing touches on the ceremony details such as flowers, setting up chairs and figuring out where they were going to source electricity for their wedding singer!

When we finally caught up with Jeff, we made use of one end of the beautiful accomodation alongside his groomsmen for a few shots before heading over to Sonya’s side.

Sonya and her bridal party were all in high spirits, running about trying to hide Sonya from passing guests as they walked past the windows on the way to the ceremony location.

We had a bit of fun with the champagne, added hair extensions to Dad for a bit of fun, and made sure to make some time for a bit of a first look with Mum and Dad before walking down the aisle.

Beresford Estate Wedding Ceremony

Sonya and Jeff’s Beresford Estate Wedding Ceremoyn took place on the large grassy area at the rear opf the reception venue, making use of the modern black on concrete exterior that has ivy growing in a square pattern asa the backdrop.

Their ceremony was modern, but still very classic in it’s approach with the  delightful inclusion of Sonya’s parents in the ceremony which made everyone smile.

Glamour Photos

After the ceremony, the rain started to fall for a bit so we moved inside the reception hall – thankfully it diddnt stay too long so we managed to have a few group shots on the front lawns before everyone retired to the rooftop terrace for drinks while Sonya, Jeff, my wife and I head out to Port Noarlunga Jetty for some glamour shots.

SOnya and Jeff were very laid back and were keen on doing whatever it took to get any of the shots I had in my mind, which made the entire process really easy and natural!

Beresford Estate Wedding Reception

Sonya and Jeffs reception started off with a bang, with them entering directly to the dancefloor and asking everyone to join in! Was a great way to get everyone in the mood to party early on and set the scene for a really exciting Tuesday night! (Yes that’s right, Tuesday wedding! Becoming a lot more common these days!)

The highlight of the evening for me would have to have been the dance off between the boys and girls tot he tune of ‘Greece Lightning‘ which saw som rather spectacular moves on the dance floor! We also made sure to use some smoke in the vineyards and of course an incredible sparkler ‘sendoff’ which we did a little earlier in the night so that we could have everyone in attendance be a part!
