Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, The Manor provided the perfect setting for a memorable wedding day, even with the weather’s little surprises.

Jasmine and Rikki’s wedding was initially planned to take place in front of the charming little chapel on site. However, with the rain coming down, a last-minute change saw the ceremony moved to the undercover area in front of the smaller function room on the lower level. This adjustment didn’t dampen the spirits one bit; instead, it brought everyone closer together, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that was simply perfect for such a special occasion.

Preparation

The day began with a buzz of excitement as both Jasmine and Rikki prepared on site. Rikki and his groomsmen occupied the small room at the end of the complex, exuding a laid-back vibe as they got ready. The Manor in Basket Range is nothing short of a fairytale venue. Even with the rain, its beauty was undeniable, adding a mystical touch to Jasmine and Rikki’s wedding.

With the rain looming, we set off on a quick tour of The Manor’s stunning grounds for the glamour photos. Ever had one of those days where you can’t believe you get paid to have this much fun? Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a Bucks vs Hens Paintball Party at Monarto Delta Force Paintball Park, and wow, what an adventure it was! The chilly weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits; in fact, the excitement and adrenaline kept everyone warm. First Game – Capture the Magical Jerry Can

The first game was like stepping into an action movie set. Like a scene straight out of Stargate, with two teams battling to capture the magical jerry can from the central pyramid. The objective was simple yet challenging: seize control of the jerry can and transport it to the opponent’s spawning location without getting shot. Easier said than done! Both attempts at this game ended in a stalemate, but not without some intense and hilarious moments.

The girls seemed to dominate possession of the jerry can during the matches, showcasing their strategic prowess. I felt like a wartime reporter, sneaking around to capture the action without becoming a target myself. The challenge was real, and despite my high-vis gear, I couldn’t avoid getting hit a few times. But those action-packed shots of paintballs flying, determined faces, and triumphant cheers made it all worth it. The energy was contagious, and the competitive spirit was infectious.

Second Game – Barrel Run

The second game kicked off with a thrilling twist. The bride, groom, best man and maid of honour had to run a gauntlet while their friends unleashed a barrage of paintballs at them. It was a sight to behold, filled with laughter and a few dramatic dodges. The groom, in his valiant attempt, managed to hurt himself slightly, but his spirit remained unbroken. This initial fun set the stage for the main event: a classic push-and-pull game with barrels scattered throughout the field.

The objective was straightforward: push the opposing team off the map. The barrels provided cover and obstacles, turning the game into a strategic battle of wits and agility. The intensity was palpable as both teams maneuvered, trying to outsmart and overpower each other. Tthe action was non-stop, and the opportunities for dynamic, engaging shots were endless. The moments of triumph, frustration, and sheer determination were beautifully captured, making this game a highlight of the day.

Third Game – Protect the President

The final game was my favourite. The playing field was an elaborate setup with wooden tanks and a real helicopter, creating an immersive and exciting environment. The storyline added an extra layer of excitement: a helicopter had crashed, and the tanks were attacking, with the goal being to plant a slab of TNT within the helicopter. Both teams were determined, and the stakes were high with the girls needing to win both games in order to catch up with the boys on points.

Watching the boys and girls strategize, execute their plans, and fight for victory was exhilarating. Each team had a turn at being the attackers and defenders, showcasing their teamwork and tactical skills. The expressions of concentration, the triumphant yells, and the victorious smiles were priceless. Capturing these moments, where the players were wholly engrossed in the game, provided some of the best shots of the day. It was the perfect culmination of an action-packed, joy-filled event.

In the end, the Bucks vs Hens Paintball Party at Monarto Delta Force was more than just a pre-wedding celebration. It was a testament to the power of fun, friendship, and friendly competition in bringing people together. As a photographer, being part of such an energetic and lively event was a privilege. The memories captured will undoubtedly bring smiles and laughter for years to come, reminding everyone of the sheer joy of coming together for a day of paintball fun.

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

MARRIED AT SNEAKY’S, ANGLE VALE

Kirsty and Christopher agree that they wouldn’t change a thing about their
big day as it was “perfection”.
After two years of planning, Kirsty says she loved every step of the process
from picking out vendors to organising decorations.
“We were very blessed that nothing went wrong and all our first-choice
vendors were available for our date,” Kirsty says.
The couple’s wedding was full of highlights from their early morning
wake-up call to dancing into the wee hours of the morning.
“I think the biggest highlight is having your loved ones there helping you
celebrate the best day of your life,” Kirsty says.
The reception featured an incredible Italian-inspired menu featuring
pizza, arancini and meatballs. The pair cut into a delicious white chocolate
and raspberry cake from Lee’s Cakes.
DJ Tommy T from Signature Entertainment brought the ultimate party
vibes, as well as a photo booth, light-up letters and a smoke machine to
bring an extra level of romance to the newlywed’s first dance.
“Our first dance was a mashup of First Dancin by 2 Lane Summer and I
Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith,” Kirsty says.
Kirsty and Christopher’s love story started with a swipe after matching on
Tinder in 2019. Christopher popped the question while the couple were
spending the weekend binge-watching the Harry Potter series. “He kept
walking in and out of the lounge room and I thought he was sick but turns
out he was just super nervous, but it was the easiest yes I’ve ever said,”
Kirsty remembers.
The pair honeymooned in the Whitsundays, and also visited Brisbane and
Airlie Beach.
Kirsty, 30, is the daughter of Paul and Shirley Ortmann, of Happy Valley,
and Christopher, 32, is the son of David Bligh, of Enfield, and Kristy Night
of Paralowie.

The theme of the day, “The Officer and the Gentleman,” was a delightful nod to Brendan’s Air Force career and Ian’s charming mustachioed presence. Their personalities shone through every detail, making the day as unique as their love story.

Williamstown Wedding Preparation

The morning was abuzz with excitement and laughter as Brendan and Ian prepared together for their big day at the private residence on site. The atmosphere was both relaxed and electric, with friends and family bustling around, ensuring everything was perfect. The property itself was a dream, recently landscaped to showcase its natural beauty while providing all the comforts of a stately home.

Brendan, the Air Force officer, looked dashing in his uniform, while Ian, the epitome of a gentleman, sported a tailored suit that highlighted his charismatic personality. The couple chose to embrace the joy of the day by getting ready side by side, sharing smiles, encouraging words, and a few light-hearted moments that eased any pre-wedding jitters. Our next stop was the enchanting Al-Ru Farm for some glamour photos. Despite the midday sun presenting a bit of a challenge, the farm’s spectacular grounds provided a stunning backdrop. The light may have been harsh, but it added a unique charm to the photos, casting beautiful shadows and highlighting the vibrant greenery.

Brendan and Ian’s camaraderie was evident as they posed with their borrowed car and the famed plane on a pole, which we later photoshopped into an attacking biplane for a whimsical touch. The farm’s timeless beauty, combined with the couple’s joyful spirits, made for an unforgettable photo session.

Williamstown Wedding Ceremony

Back at the Williamstown property, guests were greeted by a spectacular grazing table, a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The raw honeycomb and sandwich meat combo was a particular favorite of mine, offering a delightful blend of flavors that perfectly matched the day’s celebratory vibe.

This Williamstown wedding ceremony took place under a majestic gum tree at the rear of the property, a setting as timeless as their love. Guests were coaxed down to this serene spot, where they settled in anticipation. Brendan and Ian arrived in style, walking down the aisle together, their smiles lighting up the entire scene. The ceremony was a testament to their shared love of pop culture, with references to “Grace and Frankie” and “Schitt’s Creek” adding a touch of humor and warmth.

After exchanging vows, the couple sealed a time capsule wine bottle to be opened on their anniversary, a beautiful symbol of their commitment. A surprise bagpiper appeared on a hill, serenading guests and adding a magical touch to the proceedings. The ceremony was as heartfelt as it was unique, reflecting the couple’s personalities perfectly.
