The Botanic Garden provided the perfect blend of nature’s elegance and city convenience, creating a serene oasis for a beautiful celebration.

The Botanic Garden is a dream venue for any couple wanting that balance between natural beauty and urban accessibility. With its lush greenery, towering trees, and blooming flora, it offers endless opportunities for incredible wedding photography. Ash and Sam couldn’t have chosen a more ideal spot, and it was a pleasure to capture their special day in this iconic Adelaide location.

Preparation

Sam started his big day in a chic penthouse apartment with sweeping views of the Adelaide skyline. The excitement was palpable as his groomsmen and family bustled around, preparing for the celebration. The apartment was the perfect spot for some pre-wedding fun, and Sam’s crew certainly took advantage of it. There was plenty of laughter, some light-hearted teasing, and, of course, a bit of chaos. Sam was the picture of calmness, despite his friends’ best efforts to get him riled up!

One of the highlights of the morning was an unexpected addition to the décor—an amusing piece of furniture shaped like an animal. Naturally, the groomsmen couldn’t resist incorporating it into the photos, resulting in some truly hilarious shots that perfectly captured the group’s lively energy. It wasn’t all play, though. Sam’s parents and siblings were there to lend a helping hand, making the morning both fun and family-focused.

Meanwhile, Ash was getting ready in the charming hills suburb of Stirling at an adorable bed and breakfast. The B&B had this delightful little sunroom at the front, and the light that streamed through the windows made for some of the most gorgeous dress photos. The property also boasted a picturesque garden, providing an idyllic backdrop for intimate pre-wedding moments.

As with most weddings, things ran just a tad behind schedule. Ash’s dad, ever the patient one, spent much of the morning sitting in his car out the front, grinning as he waited for the girls to finish getting ready. But when the time finally came for him to see Ash in her dress for the first time, the look on his face was priceless. That precious father-daughter moment made every second of waiting worthwhile. The love and pride radiating from him were a beautiful sight to behold, and we made sure to capture it in all its glory.

Before the festivities began, we took the opportunity to capture a few photos outside the mansion, with its stately façade serving as a regal backdrop.

The reception took place in the stunning Conservatory, an enchanting glass-enclosed space that allows guests to dine beneath the stars. The room was beautifully decorated, with twinkling lights casting a soft glow over the celebrations. Speeches followed the meal, each one filled with heartfelt tributes to the happy couple. One of the absolute highlights of the day had to be the photos taken at Gawler Park Estate before heading for their Thorn Clarke Wines wedding ceremony. With the rolling hills, cherry blossoms, and even some grand ruins as a backdrop, we had the perfect setting to capture some truly timeless shots. Despite the wind, Viola’s veil fluttered beautifully as we took glamour photos with the Clydesdales that Chad had arranged for her arrival by horse and cart. After the ceremony, we made the most of the stunning Thorn Clarke Wines and Gawler Park Estate for some post-ceremony glamour shots. The horse and cart made another appearance, providing the perfect addition to the photos as the couple shared some quiet moments together. As the sun began to set, we headed back to the ruins at Gawler Park Estate for some absolutely magical photos. The ruins, combined with the soft glow of the sunset and the rolling hills, created an unforgettable scene. It was here that we were joined by a little black cat, who decided to follow us around as we took photos. Viola and Chad were absolutely charmed by the cat, and it brought a playful and unexpected touch to these intimate shots. It was a moment of pure serendipity that added an extra dash of personality to their day.

A Bluey-Themed Celebration for Their Little One

Once the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere immediately shifted into something more playful. Blanche Point, with its dramatic cliffs and expansive ocean views, is an Adelaide gem. The rugged landscape has been a favorite for local photographers for years—and for good reason! The wide, open skies, endless ocean, and steep cliff faces create an otherworldly backdrop that brings out the magic in every shot. I usually recommend this spot to couples looking for something different, and Sadaf and Salar were up for the challenge.

When we headed out for the photoshoot, it was midday—unusual, as most couples opt for a dreamy sunset shoot. But with the overcast sky and the fresh sea breeze, we had the perfect lighting. While the weather was a bit moody, it gave the photos a soft, ethereal quality that worked beautifully with Sadaf’s stunning bridal look. And her long, flowing veil? It took on a life of its own in the wind, soaring and twirling like something out of a fairytale.

Wind, Flies, and Veils: Embracing the Elements

As any Adelaide photographer will tell you, the wind at Blanche Point can be quite a character in itself. On this day, it certainly wanted to play a starring role. While some might see the gusty conditions as a challenge, for Sadaf and Salar, it added an extra dose of drama to their photos. The wind picked up Sadaf’s veil and made it dance through the air in the most majestic way. Every photo looked like a cinematic moment with her veil swirling around them.

Of course, it wasn’t all picture-perfect. The flies were out in full force, buzzing around like they owned the place. But even with a few extra “guests” in attendance, Sadaf and Salar handled it like pros. They laughed through it, brushing off the flies as we captured those intimate, stolen glances and candid moments. The two of them were absolutely adorable together, never missing a beat despite the pesky insects or the wind. It’s these natural, unscripted moments that really bring out the personalities of a couple, and they didn’t disappoint!

Maddy and Jake’s Burbrook wedding was everything a photographer could dream of – a joyful, love-filled day set against one of South Australia’s most picturesque backdrops, Burbrook Forest. As a photographer, I’ve always been excited to shoot at this venue, not just because it’s one of the most beautiful natural settings in Adelaide, but also because it holds a special place in my heart – it’s where my wife and I got married! Every time I return to Burbrook, I’m reminded of why it’s such a magical place for a wedding.

This charming couple brought their own unique flavour to the day, blending laid-back charm with heartfelt moments. With half a dozen kids running around, their infectious energy only added to the fun, making the day as lively as it was romantic. Nothing could phase Maddy and Jake, their smiles as wide as the Australian sky. Their relaxed, joyful vibe echoed through every part of the day, from the intimate preparation moments to the first look, and all the way to the chilly evening at Kuitpo Hall. It was a day where love and laughter ruled, and I feel so lucky to have captured it all!

Preparation

Maddy and Jake began their big day at a nearby bed and breakfast, a cozy hideaway that felt like the perfect start to what was to come. The boys, including Jake, got ready in a charming little granny flat. It was a space brimming with laughter, as the guys – and gal – enjoyed each other’s company and some good-natured teasing while getting dressed. They even had a laser-cut mechanical ring box, adding a quirky touch to the morning – something that reflected Jake’s fun and light-hearted personality. The anticipation of the day ahead was palpable, but everything was calm and easygoing, with plenty of smiles all around.

Meanwhile, in the main house, Maddy and her bridal party were busy preparing in a space filled with soft light and an air of excitement. First Look Photoshoot

Maddy and Jake opted for a “first look” before the ceremony, and wow, was it beautiful. They met on a hilltop that overlooked the scenic beauty surrounding the bed and breakfast. The wind was brisk, but it didn’t matter. When Jake turned to see Maddy for the first time, their faces lit up with pure joy. That moment when two people see each other for the first time, fully dressed for their wedding day, is electric, and Maddy and Jake’s first look was no exception. The love in their eyes was undeniable, and it felt like the world stood still for just a moment.

After that sweet first look, we took advantage of the gorgeous surroundings with a mini photoshoot. The orchard nearby was in full bloom, and we even had a few local giant kangaroos hopping around in the background – quintessentially Australian, right? Despite the chill in the air, the two of them were so wrapped up in the moment, you’d never know it. Their smiles and laughter made the session a joy to shoot, and those candid shots of them together in the orchard were some of my favorites from the day.

Burbrook Forest is famous for its breathtaking “Wedding Tree,” and Maddy and Jake couldn’t have picked a more iconic spot for their ceremony. The towering tree stands proud, its branches reaching out like a protective canopy over the couple and their guests. The soft sunlight filtering through the leaves created a magical atmosphere, making the ceremony feel almost otherworldly. Surrounded by nature, with the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, it was the perfect backdrop for Maddy and Jake’s heartfelt vows.

Their ceremony was filled with personal touches, including a “tying the knot” tradition that added a meaningful layer to the day. All the while, the children in attendance were having the time of their lives, running around and playing in the background, adding a touch of playful innocence to the proceedings. Burbrook Forest Glamour Photos

After the ceremony, it was time to explore the stunning beauty of Burbrook Forest for the glamour photos. I always love this part of the day, when the newlyweds can take a moment to breathe and simply enjoy each other’s company, away from the hustle and bustle. Maddy and Jake were naturals in front of the camera, their connection shining through in every shot. Burbrook Forest’s tall, majestic trees provided the most breathtaking backdrop – a forest that seems tailor-made for romantic photos.

We wandered through to some of my favorite spots in the forest, capturing the couple as they laughed, embraced, and soaked in the magic of their wedding day. The light was perfect, and the forest was calm and quiet, allowing us to focus entirely on Maddy and Jake’s love story. Every photo we captured in the forest had a magical, ethereal quality to it – the kind of timeless beauty that will take them right back to this special day every time they look at them.

Kuitpo Hall Wedding Reception

As the day drew to a close, the celebration moved to Kuitpo Hall for the reception. Originally set up for an outdoor event, the unpredictable Adelaide weather decided otherwise. But that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! Guests cozied up inside the hall, which was decorated with rustic charm, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere. The cold might have kept everyone indoors, but it also brought everyone closer together, creating a cozy, communal vibe that felt perfect for the evening.

One of the highlights of the reception was when Maddy and Jake serenaded each other with a beautiful duet – a moment that left everyone teary-eyed. Their voices blended beautifully, and you could see the love and admiration they had for each other as they sang. It was such a personal, heartfelt moment, and it felt like the perfect way to kick off the evening’s festivities. Later, the couple’s first dance got everyone out of their seats and onto the dance floor, where the fun really began. The warmth of the music and dancing was the perfect antidote to the chilly evening, and the dance floor was packed with joyful energy as the night went on.
