Two Bright Lights 2020 Editors Choice Award Winner

Two Bright Lights 2020 Editors Choice Award Winner

I like to be in the habit of helping all the wedding vendors involved with the weddings I cover as a wedding photographer, and as such I like to share some of the photos I take with them. Much of the time vendors like makeup artists, or dress designers never get to see the fruits of their labour, as they arent usually on site when the ‘magic happens’ on a wedding day. So I like to share my photos with them! One way I do this is through Two Bright Lights which is a distribution network for wedding photographers to submit and share their work with vendors and wedding blogs worldwide.

I’m happy to announce that I have been awarded a 2020 editors choice award through Two Bright Lights for being consistantly published on wedding blogs aorund the world with my work.

Some of my published weddings

Kerri & Tony’s wedding in Santorini

Covering Kerri and Tony’s wedding on the Greek Island of Santorini would have to be a highlight of my wedding photography career so far, and the media seem to love it also. Their wedding has been published on multiple online blogs, including Polkadot Bride and Easy Weddings.

Lucy and Callum’s Uniting Church wedding

Lucy and Callum’s wedding at the Golden Grove Uniting Church has garnered some attention in wedding magazines in the past due to their photos we took in the rather horrible weather they had on their day. Their wedding was published in the Layers of Luxe wedding magazine as a feature last October.

Libby and Simon’s Chateau Tanunda Wedding

Libby and Simon’s wedding at Chateau Tanunda was picked up by the Brides and Weddings Magazine, Tacari Weddings and Every Bride due largely in part to the fact they travelled from the United States to have their wedding here in South Australia, and also because their photos turned out gorgeous!

Emily and Angel’s Sailing Club Wedding

Emily and Angel held their wedding at the intimate Cruising Yacht Club of SA and has been picked up by the prestigious LTBG wedding blog Equally Wed. Which was really cool as it was the first same sex wedding I had covered since the Australian plebicite on same sex marriages. 🙂 They were also featured in the Gay Weddings Magazine.

Jane and David’s Engagement and Wedding

Jane and David held their wedding at the St Mary’s Cathedral in Darwin and has been published in the Trends Wedding and Lifestyle Magazine, but the really exciting one that was published was their engagement on the Tiwi Islands where there were living. Their engagement shoot was picked up by the How they Asked blog which are curated by the prestigious ‘The knot’ wedding blog.

Kelli and Ben’s Ekhidna Winery Wedding

Kelli and Ben’s Ekhidna Winery wedding turned out to be a wonderful wedding, not just for their photos but also due to the number of bridal couples who have cited their wedding as the reason why they’d want me to be their wedding photographer! 🙂 Their wedding has been published on Tacari weddings and Everybride.

This list is far from an exhaustive list of weddings I’ve covered being published around the internet, but are the first that comes to mind when thinking of this 2020 Editors Choice Award and where they are 🙂 It’s rather excitingt o have my photos published aorund the world in large wedding blogs like these, and it’s also a bit of fun for my wedding couples to have a little bit of fame out there! 😀 but these are examples of the published weddings that have helped me become a Two Bright Lights 2020 Editors Choice Award Winner!

2018 ABIA Finalist for Photography & Photobooth

ABIA Accredited wedding photographer

October 18, 2016/in News & Events, Awards, Support, Wedding

As part of my continued quest to provide better wedding photography services to my clients, SvenStudios has become an ABIA accredited supplier. The Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) was founded in 1997 to protect the bridal customer and promote the bridal supplier. Their goal is to provide prospective brides with first hand accounts and reliable reviews regarding wedding suppliers they may consider hiring for their wedding.

I have attained the status of a first year ‘appointed bridal industry associate’ due to recent brides and grooms who have reviewed me on the ABIA portal. Almost every wedding that takes place is registered with ABIA, and after the day the organisation invites the newly weds to review any suppliers they may have employed on their day. My ABIA Accredited status is a representation of clients who have rated, reviewed and recommended my business. In fact, despite only joining ABIA in the last 2 months, according to my ABIA listing  I have achieved a rating from previous brides of 94% and was a nominee for the 2016 South Australian wedding photographer of the year.

I am very much looking forward to the opportunity that ABIA represents in providing a national, transparent portal for new clients to read about the quality of service I provide my clients. I also look forward to being a nominee next year! The ABIA awards are unique in that they are awarded solely on the reviews of wedded couples after their wedding day based on 4 criteria –  Quality of Product, Quality of Service, Value for Money and Attitude of Staff. So the awards are given out not by merit of technical photographic prowess like the AIPP awards, but more the service side of weddings, which I believe to be just as important! I am already a multiple award winning photographer for my technical ability, so I’m looking forward to being recognised for my service!

Sunday Mail featured weddings

June 28, 2016/in News & Events, Awards, Interesting, Wedding

Recently the Sunday Mail newspaper of South Australia featured not one, but two recent weddings I’ve covered in and around South Australia as an Adelaide wedding photographer. You can catch the articles in the June 26th, 2016 edition of the paper on pages 78 and 79.

Sunday Mail featured weddings

The first of these weddings is that of Gemma and Ryan’s wedding at Utopia Waterfall Gully. The Sunday Mail dedicated an entire page for the feature and published two photos from the day. However I feel they could have possibly cropped them a little better, but oh well 🙂

To paraphrase the article –

It was the handmade touches at the wedding of Ryan Morrison and Gemma Sneddon that encapsulated them as a couple. When Ryan proposed to Gemma at a fancy dinner while on holiday in melbourne, the ring box he presented her with was a handmade book. And the ring, made of aircraft grade titanium, adorned Gemma’s finger when she and Ryan exchanged their vows. At their ceremony and reception, held at Utopia at Waterfall Gully, 80 guests celebrated the future ahead for the newlyweds. Their bridal party included Justin McArthur, Shannon Ryan, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Natalie Rose, Carly Wilamowski and Wayne Bickley. Gemma made paper flowers from book pages, while her dad made custom wooden LEGO head ring boxes. They chose their own music playlists and hand-dyed fabric with text on it to make custom vests. “We wanted the wedding to feel like ‘us’,” Gemma said. They also had two cakes, one which was made of cheese, and had LEGO in the bomboniere. “It was cool watching people barter and trade for the mini figurines they wanted,” she said. The couple celebrated their honeymoon, or “mini moon”, at Victor Harbor. Gemma, 28, works in library customer service and is the daughter of Hal and Jacqui Sneddon, of Holden Hill. Ryan, 30, is a PhD student and the son of Karen Bartel, of Junee, NSW.

The second of the weddings featured in this edition of the Sunday Mail was the wedding of Wendy and Steve who held a wedding with traditional Chinese elements while being wed in the Brougham Place Uniting Church.

To paraphrase the article –

Making a promise to be there for each other through life’s highs and lows, was a wedding highlight for newlyweds Wendy Tran and Steven Goldsmith. Wendy, wearing a dress from a bridal boutique in NSW, was joined by bridesmaids Linda Duong, Anna Mai, Bernadette Chan and Priscilla Tran. Sam was joined at the altar by groomsmen Sam Solanki, Ethan Parsa, Ashley Hepworth and Adam Mai. The newlyweds and their 130 guests then continued celebrations at the Ballroom and Kozak Bar in Hindmarsh. The couple, who are both medical scientists, spent their honeymoon in New Zealand, exploring the north and south islands. Wendy, 27, is the daughter of Hong Ngoc Mai and Tai Tran, of Mansfield Park. Steven, 25, is the son of Peter and Evie Goldsmith, of Edwardstown.

Associate of the AIPP Awarded

October 3, 2014/in Awards, Interesting, News & Events

As a result of my recent success at the National AIPP Photography Awards I have been conferred the status and honour of ‘Associate of the Australian Institute for Professional Photography (AIPP)’ which means my photography has been of a consistently high standard over the past few years that I have been a full member of the AIPP that I have ‘gained rank’ if you will. Being an Associate of the AIPP is a step below being a Master Photographer of the AIPP which as a full member of the AIPP for only a few years is quite a difficult goal to attain. However being awarded an Associate status is the first step towards that.

As a result of my new status of an Associate of the AIPP I now have a few more post-nominals to put after my name. Instead of my former status of an ‘accredited professional photographer’ with the post-nominals of ‘APP’ I am now an ‘Associate of the AIPP’ with the post nominals of ‘AAIPP’. Therefore with the addition of all my other post-nominals from completed degrees and whatnot my full name is now ‘Steven Paul Duncan Mteach BA DipCIT AAIPP’ bit of a mouthful eh? Perhaps in the future I’d like to add a pHD to the list 🙂

The honour of becoming an Associate of the AIPP reaffirms my belief that the standard of my photography is of a high level and that my clients can rest assured that if they choose me as their photographer they are getting an industry recognised photographer of a high calibre.

To showcase my new title I’ve been sent a certificate detailing the honour and a yellow ribbon with medal that I will now wear at future formal AIPP mixers such as Awards dinners. Master photographers wear a red ribbon while grandmasters wear black.
