Tina and Eric’s Bumbunga Lake photoshoot was the grand finale of their epic five-hour pre-wedding adventure across Adelaide’s most stunning locations. From the breezy shores of Henley Beach to the vibrant urban scenes of Port Adelaide, their energy and creativity shone through, culminating in breathtaking shots on the surreal salt flats of Bumbunga Lake.

The choice of locations was a blend of urban charm and natural beauty. From windswept shores to historic streets, each backdrop added a different flavour to their session. The final stop at Bumbunga Lake in South Australia’s north gave the shoot an ethereal finish. While the lake wasn’t at its most vibrant pink, its endless white salt flats and surreal atmosphere provided an unforgettable setting.

Henley Beach Photoshoot

The day kicked off at Henley Beach, right by the jetty. Bright sunshine reflected off the water, making for a stunning natural light setup. The wind, however, had its own plans. Tina and Eric came prepared with an array of balloons, which quickly turned into playful props caught in the breeze. Controlling them was a hilarious challenge, but the results were fantastic—dynamic, spontaneous, and full of life.

Once the balloons were wrangled, attention turned to the jetty’s underside, a favourite spot for moody and dramatic shots. The combination of wooden beams, shifting tides, and soft shadows created a striking contrast to the earlier lighthearted frames. Walking along the shoreline, the couple enjoyed some quiet moments, letting the sea and sky provide a natural, timeless setting for their love to shine.

Crozier St Photoshoot

To escape the relentless wind, the next stop was Crozier Street, an industrial gem tucked away in Adelaide. This grungy urban location, famous for its appearances in films like Mortal Kombat, offered a completely different aesthetic. Textured walls, rusted doors, and weathered bricks set the stage for an edgy, cinematic feel.

Unfortunately, being a Friday, the typically photogenic walls were partially hidden by parked cars from the surrounding businesses. That didn’t stop the magic. By shifting perspectives, framing shots creatively, a touch of photoshop and making use of the alleys and side streets, the shoot still captured that signature industrial charm. The contrast between the raw urban elements and Tina’s elegant outfit made for a striking visual narrative.

From industrial to historic, Port Adelaide provided the next backdrop. Its heritage buildings and iconic waterfront delivered a classic yet artistic atmosphere. The area is rich with character, from old warehouses to beautifully restored facades, making it a favourite for Adelaide photographers.

Tina and Eric effortlessly fit into the setting, moving from grand doorways to iron-laden balconies, playing with reflections in the windows of century-old buildings. Down by the wharf, the water added an extra layer of depth to their portraits, with boats floating lazily in the background. The contrast between soft romance and the structured architecture made these photos stand out as timeless keepsakes.

The grand finale of the day was the much-anticipated Bumbunga Lake photoshoot. Known for its vibrant pink hues when conditions are just right, the lake wasn’t displaying its famous colour this time. But that hardly mattered. The vast, salt-covered landscape stretched endlessly, offering a minimalist dreamscape perfect for unique, otherworldly shots.

The balloons made a comeback, dancing against the clear blue sky and adding a pop of colour to the stark surroundings. The couple’s silhouettes against the lake’s reflective surface created breathtaking compositions. The highlight, however, was the quirky and beloved Lake Monster sculpture. With its whimsical presence, it added a fun and unexpected twist to the shoot, making for some truly unforgettable images.

Romantic Belair National Park Proposal – Marissa & James

Proposals are always magical, but there’s something truly enchanting about a secluded Belair National Park proposal. Nestled deep within the lush greenery of Adelaide’s oldest national park, Marissa and James’s special moment unfolded on a late Saturday evening. With James meticulously planning every detail, their story became one of intimate romance, a little suspense, and a lot of love.

James had chosen the Long Gully Picnic Ground as the perfect location. Surrounded by the serene beauty of native Australian bushland, this spot offers a dreamy backdrop for any romantic milestone. The expansive grassy oval, bordered by towering eucalyptus trees, provided an open yet private setting for his heartfelt gesture.

The Perfect Location for Love: Long Gully Picnic Ground

Belair National Park offers a plethora of picturesque locations, but the Long Gully Picnic Ground is a hidden gem. Tucked away in the heart of the park, it’s an idyllic space that feels miles away from the bustle of daily life. James had booked this spot specifically to create an intimate atmosphere, free from distractions.

As the golden hour cast a soft glow across the grass, James led Marissa into the center of the clearing. His vision for the proposal included soft, diffused light at golden hour—a photographer’s dream! Unfortunately, their private oasis was briefly interrupted by an unexpected visitor. A group of park-goers and their playful dog decided this serene picnic ground was the perfect spot for some evening fun. James’s carefully crafted plan teetered on the edge of disruption.

While this was happening, James was obviously biding his time waiting for them to leave. I had positioned myself discreetly behind my car, camera ready, waiting for the moment he dropped to one knee. As a photographer, blending into the surroundings is essential for capturing candid moments, but I may have gone a little overboard this time—James couldn’t even spot me from where he stood!

Thankfully, the unexpected visitors eventually moved on, leaving the couple alone to soak in the peaceful atmosphere. The delay, while nerve-wracking for James, gave the scene an added layer of suspense. Finally, the moment was his. As Marissa turned toward him, James lowered to one knee, ring in hand, and asked the question that would change their lives forever.

Once the proposal was complete and Marissa had said “yes,” we took advantage of the beautiful surroundings for an impromptu engagement shoot. Thorngrove Manor Proposal: A Magical Moment for Adele & Emilio

When Emilio reached out to share his plan for a Thorngrove Manor proposal to Adele, excitement bubbled over. His vision was clear: a romantic, unforgettable moment at the enchanting Thorngrove Manor, one of Adelaide’s most exquisite and stately properties. His plan included a dreamy picnic on the manor’s manicured lawns, with the golden hues of the setting sun casting a romantic glow as he knelt on one knee. As a photographer, capturing these moments at Thorngrove Manor is always a privilege—it’s a location as unique as the love stories that unfold there.

Thorngrove Manor isn’t your average backdrop; it’s a fairytale come to life. Its timeless architecture, intricate stonework, and lush gardens create a setting brimming with romance. Since it’s not often open for weddings or events, opportunities to shoot there are rare and incredibly special. Emilio’s plan to surprise Adele in such a breathtaking setting was perfect in every way, except for one small hitch. But more on that later!

Setting the Stage for the Perfect Proposal

On the day of the proposal, I arrived at Thorngrove Manor early to meet the picnic team and strategize how best to remain unseen. Proposal photography is awfully fun like that, as I get to pretend Im a ninja or spy hiding in the bushes waiting to strike!

The setup was flawless—a cozy blanket, elegant decor, and a spread of delicious treats designed to delight. The manor stood majestically in the background, promising a proposal straight out of a storybook. As the finishing touches were added, I scoped out hiding spots and prepared to capture every detail of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The plan was to stay out of sight until Emilio and Adele walked in front of the manor. However, the gates posed an unexpected challenge. When the couple couldn’t get through, they ended up walking along the road, unknowingly passing by me and the picnic organizer crouched in the bushes! While it wasn’t quite the stealthy entrance Emilio had imagined, it brought a playful element to the day that we all laughed about later.

A Romantic Thorngrove Manor Proposal

Once at the center of the manor’s grand driveway, with its stunning architecture rising behind them, Emilio brought his vision to life. These are the kinds of emotions that make proposal photography so rewarding.

After the proposal, the couple moved to their idyllic picnic setup, enjoying the carefully curated treats while soaking in the beauty of Thorngrove Manor. It was a serene and intimate moment, just the two of them reveling in the joy of their new engagement. The atmosphere was so peaceful, with soft golden light filtering through the trees and the manor casting long shadows across the lawn.

Pt Noarlunga Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot – Jess & Jack

When Jess and Jack first shared their love story with me during our meeting at White Hill Estate, I knew their wedding was going to be one to remember. Their connection was vibrant, and their adventurous spirits were magnetic. As avid free divers, they spoke about their shared love for the ocean, and it wasn’t long before the idea of an underwater wreck the dress shoot came to life. With my own passion for having a fun time behind a camera like this, The day after their wedding, we brought this unique concept to the crystal-clear waters off Pt Noarlunga.

Jess and Jack were game for anything, and their playful energy made this experience unforgettable. Before diving into the ocean, we started with some fun shots along the shoreline. There’s nothing quite like the image of a bride’s gown catching the waves, creating a dramatic, flowing effect that feels almost otherworldly. From splashing through the surf to Jack cheekily scooping Jess up before tossing her into the shallows, it was pure joy captured through the lens.

Beachside Photoshoot

Pt Noarlunga is a treasure for beach photography. Its golden sands and rugged jetty offer a perfect backdrop for candid moments and romantic portraits. As the sun rose, Jess and Jack’s newlywed glow shone even brighter. Their laughter filled the salty air as they played like kids along the water’s edge, their love evident in every glance and touch.

We started with some light-hearted shots to ease into the shoot. Jess’s gown – technically NOT the one she had worn the day earlier, contrasted beautifully against the soft blues and whites of the coastline. Jack was dressed in his full suit however, adding to the romantic vibe of the shoot. The highlight? Capturing the waves fanning out her dress like a mermaid’s tail, a moment that combined elegance with the raw power of nature.

It was actually this shot which I had taken at a previous wreck the dress shoot that prompted Jess and Jack to get in contact and have me shoot their wedding! So any other adventurous souls out there wanting to do something outrageous for your wedding shoot, hit me up!

Pt Noarlunga’s beach setting provided dynamic opportunities for creativity. The interplay of sunlight and water created dazzling reflections, and we used every angle to capture the couple’s chemistry. Whether framed against the expansive sky or the foaming surf, their photos were a celebration of love and freedom.

Underwater Wreck The Dress Shoot

Diving into the waters of Pt Noarlunga was the next-level adventure we’d all been waiting for. The sun, which had hidden behind clouds on their wedding day, now shone brightly, illuminating the ocean with clarity and warmth. Still, the water was brisk, so we kept the session short but sweet, ensuring every moment counted. For safety and guidance, I brought along a skilled dive team, including the incredible Diana Fernie, who brought expertise and calm to the shoot.

Underwater shoots are a mix of art and science. Timing, positioning, and lighting are crucial, and Jess and Jack were naturals. They dove effortlessly, their movements slow and dreamlike, giving the camera a chance to capture their underwater waltz. Jess’s wedding gown—altered slightly for practicality—moved like liquid poetry, enhanced subtly in post-production to recreate the sweeping elegance of her wedding day dress.

Wreck-the-dress shoots are about more than just photos—they’re about capturing the essence of a couple’s journey. For Jess and Jack, the ocean is their shared sanctuary, a place where they’ve built countless memories together. To bring their wedding celebration into this environment was deeply meaningful, and it showed in every shot. Their love was playful yet profound, adventurous yet anchored, and this shoot reflected it all.

The session wrapped up with both exhilaration and relief as we climbed back onto the shore. Jess and Jack were shivering but smiling, thrilled by the experience. While the water had been chilly, the warmth of their connection radiated through every image. They thanked the dive team and myself for helping bring their dream to life, but truthfully, it was my honor to work with such a bold and inspiring couple.

From the lively beachside moments to the surreal underwater portraits, the underwater wreck the dress shoot images were as dynamic and unique as Jess and Jack themselves. They weren’t just photos—they were a testament to a love that’s willing to dive deep, both figuratively and literally.

The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot – Sam & Wayne

Sam and Wayne’s The Manor Basket Range Engagement Shoot was nothing short of magical! As a photographer who’s shot around 10 weddings here this year alone, I know every nook and cranny of this historic castle-like venue. But this shoot had something special—a quiet, almost serene atmosphere as Sam and Wayne had booked a room for a public holiday. With no weddings on that day, they had the entire place to themselves, creating a uniquely intimate experience for their engagement photos.

It’s rare to see The Manor so quiet. Usually, it’s bustling with wedding guests, vendors, and celebrations, but on this day, it felt like their own private castle. The only slight hiccup was not being able to fully access the iconic Romeo and Juliet balcony. But with a bit of clever positioning and perhaps a little post-editing magic, we still captured stunning moments that made it feel as if the whole venue was at their disposal. The weather played along perfectly, too, with a soft golden light filtering through the clouds, giving us that dreamy, glowing backdrop photographers love!

Taking Advantage of Golden Hour

We started the shoot in one of my favourite spots at The Manor—behind the chapel in the garden. The sunlight was at just the right angle, peeking through the trees and casting a warm, golden glow over the couple. The way Sam and Wayne looked at each other, bathed in that soft light, was pure magic. You could feel their connection through the camera. It’s moments like these that make engagement photography so rewarding.

After soaking up the garden vibes, we wandered towards the front of the castle. The grand stone architecture framed Sam and Wayne perfectly, making them look like royalty for a day. The timing couldn’t have been better—the sun continued to dance between clouds, casting everything in a light that photographers dream about. Sam’s smile, Wayne’s relaxed demeanor—they were a perfect fit for this timeless location.

A Picturesque Stroll Through The Orchard

Next on our agenda was a stop at The Manor’s orchard, which was in full bloom. The pops of fresh white blossoms against the deep greenery made for some incredibly romantic photos. Sam was absolutely glowing in her dress as she walked through the rows of trees hand-in-hand with Wayne. The atmosphere was calm, almost ethereal, and you could feel the love and anticipation for their future wedding.

Sam and Wayne were naturals in front of the camera, needing very little direction. Their joy and love for each other shone through every shot. The blooming orchard not only provided a stunning visual backdrop but also added a sense of fresh beginnings—perfect for an engagement shoot. And with Wayne making Sam laugh between shots, it was easy to capture their candid moments that truly tell the story of their relationship.

A Dramatic Outfit Change: The Black Dress

After spending some time in the orchard, Sam did a quick change into a striking black dress, bringing a whole new vibe to the shoot. The contrast between the classic, soft colors of the surroundings and her bold outfit choice made for some dramatic and memorable shots. The Manor’s stone walls and grand architecture created the perfect setting for this darker, more modern look.

We used the castle’s winding staircases, stone archways, and shadowy corners to capture a different side of Sam and Wayne’s personalities. The black dress added an element of sophistication and mystery to the photos, contrasting beautifully with the more casual, joyful vibe from earlier in the day. Sam’s confidence in this outfit was radiant, and Wayne couldn’t keep his eyes off her!
