There’s something wildly exciting about photographing a surprise proposal, especially when it involves sneaking around in camouflage gear deep in the pine forests of South Australia. Tamsyn and Blake’s Kuitpo Forest Proposal had all the ingredients for an unforgettable afternoon — a surprise months in the making, dramatic weather rolling through the forest, towering pine trees, and one very nervous future fiancé trying to keep everything under wraps.

Blake first reached out to me months before the proposal itself. He had stumbled across one of my proposal reels online and immediately knew he wanted the same kind of undercover photography coverage for his own big moment. That instantly had me excited. Photographing a proposal comes with its own rush of adrenaline. There’s only one chance to capture that first reaction. No repeats, no second takes — just the moment as it happens.

The plan was wonderfully personal. Tamsyn and Blake were heading away for an anniversary getaway at CABN accommodation in Kuitpo Forest, nestled among the trees. The secluded setting couldn’t have suited them better. Quiet forest roads, crisp country air, soft light filtering through pine needles, and cosy cabins tucked into the landscape made the entire area feel intimate and cinematic.

Proposal photography often feels a little like preparing for a wildlife documentary. You scout locations, plan hiding spots, test sight lines, and figure out how to stay invisible while still capturing every second clearly. Blake and I had discussed timing, positioning, and signals in advance, making sure everything would flow naturally while still keeping the surprise intact. It’s amazing how much preparation goes into moments that only last a minute or two.

Planning the Kuitpo Forest Proposal

One of my favourite parts about photographing proposals is seeing just how much care people put into creating a meaningful moment for their partner. Blake had clearly poured so much thought into every detail. From the beginning, he wanted this proposal to feel private, relaxed, and genuinely reflective of their relationship. No crowded restaurants. No public spectacle. Just the two of them surrounded by nature.

Kuitpo Forest, south of Adelaide, has a lovely sense of calm as soon as you arrive. The towering pine plantations create these beautiful winding pathways while the filtered sunlight adds this soft dreamy atmosphere photographers absolutely love. It’s especially magical during unsettled weather because the clouds constantly shift the mood of the forest from bright and glowing to dark and dramatic within minutes.

The morning of the proposal started with a little unexpected stress. I arrived early, only to have a passing forest ranger casually inform me that large sections of the forest were actually closed for a scheduled deer cull. Not exactly the ideal start to a romantic proposal session. Thankfully, the CABN property was outside the closed area, so our planned spot was still accessible. I was relieved, and we kept clear of the restricted sections.

With that sorted, it was time to set up. I arrived well ahead of Blake and Tamsyn so I could prepare my hiding spot properly and place a subtle marker for Blake to identify exactly where he needed to stop. Proposal photography from concealment sounds funny, but positioning is everything. If someone turns the wrong way or stands too close to the photographer’s hiding spot, the surprise can disappear instantly.

The ghillie suit made its glorious return for this proposal. There’s something incredibly funny about crouching motionless in bushes holding thousands of dollars worth of camera gear while trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. As it turns out, camouflage works rather well in Kuitpo Forest. Among the pine needles, branches, and shadows, I was remarkably difficult to spot.

When Blake and Tamsyn finally wandered into view, the nerves immediately became obvious. Blake was doing his absolute best to appear casual while also secretly trying to line himself up with the marker we had prepared earlier. Tamsyn looked completely relaxed, enjoying the scenery around the cabin and having absolutely no idea what was about to happen.

The weather had been unpredictable all day. Rain clouds kept rolling across the sky before suddenly breaking apart again into pockets of sunlight. Instead of ruining the atmosphere, it honestly made everything feel even more cinematic. The forest floor was rich with colour, the air had that cool fresh smell after rain, and beams of golden light would suddenly break through the pine trees before disappearing again minutes later.

As Blake slowly guided Tamsyn into position, I stayed hidden among the bushes with my camera trained on them the entire time. One of the funniest parts of this job is concentrating on the photographs while secretly cheering the couple on. The anticipation builds so quickly.

Then came the moment.

Blake dropped to one knee among the trees and Tamsyn’s entire expression changed instantly. Total shock. Hands over face. Immediate tears. Pure happiness. That is the joy of photographing a surprise proposal: nothing is rehearsed, and the reactions belong entirely to the couple.

One of the sweetest parts of the whole afternoon came immediately after the proposal itself. Tamsyn later mentioned that one of her “must-haves” for any proposal was having a photographer there to capture it. Since she hadn’t noticed me hiding nearby, she initially thought the moment wasn’t being photographed at all. When I finally stood up and waved from the bushes after Blake proposed, her relief was immediate and honestly hilarious. Suddenly she realised the entire moment had been secretly captured the whole time.

That reaction alone made the camouflage mission worth it.

Exploring The Pines Around CABN Kuitpo

After the nerves settled and the newly engaged excitement kicked in, we wandered through the surrounding pine forest for some relaxed engagement-style portraits. This is always one of my favourite parts of proposal sessions because couples suddenly shift from anxious anticipation into pure happiness. Everything becomes lighter and more playful.

The pines around the CABN accommodation create such a distinctive backdrop for engagement photos. The endless rows of tall trees add incredible depth to images while still feeling soft and romantic. Combined with the changing weather conditions, every direction seemed to offer completely different lighting.

One minute we were shooting beneath moody storm clouds with deep green tones filling the frame. Ten minutes later the sun would burst through the clouds and turn the entire forest golden. Those constantly changing conditions gave the gallery so much variety while still keeping that earthy forest atmosphere consistent throughout the shoot.

Tamsyn and Blake settled into the session so naturally. The excitement of the proposal was still fresh, which always creates these beautiful genuine interactions. Smiles come easier. Couples stay close without being prompted. There’s this constant little energy between them because they’re still processing the fact that they’re engaged.

The secluded surroundings of CABN helped enormously. Having some privacy makes a real difference during a proposal session. Couples can relax into the moment without crowds nearby or strangers watching from a distance. It becomes less about performing for people and more about genuinely enjoying the experience together.

A Kuitpo Forest Proposal to Remember

Tamsyn and Blake’s Kuitpo Forest Proposal was one of those sessions that perfectly balanced emotion, humour, adventure, and romance all in one afternoon. Between dodging rain clouds, hiding in bushes wearing camouflage, navigating unexpected forest closures, and capturing one very successful surprise proposal, the day felt unforgettable from beginning to end.

Watching the relief on Tamsyn’s face when she realised the proposal had actually been photographed was honestly one of my favourite moments of the entire session. Blake had managed to pull off the surprise perfectly while also secretly ticking off one of her biggest wishes for the proposal itself.

The forest delivered everything we could have hoped for visually too. Tall pines stretching endlessly into the distance, soft light breaking through storm clouds, earthy forest textures, and that peaceful Adelaide Hills atmosphere all combined into a gallery that felt cinematic while still remaining intimate and personal.

Moments like these are exactly why I love proposal photography so much. There’s no script. No schedule. Just genuine reactions, real connection, and one massive life-changing question hidden inside an otherwise ordinary afternoon walk through the forest.

Henley Beach Proposal – Kaitlynn & Connor

Golden light across the shoreline, waves rolling in and a couple whose story stretched all the way from the USA to Adelaide. Kaitlynn and Connor’s Henley Beach proposal had everything I love about photographing a surprise proposal in Adelaide: a gorgeous location, a carefully kept secret and a little playful suspicion before the big question.

Connor had been living in Adelaide for work, a long way from home in the United States. When Kaitlynn flew over to visit, he had something rather more exciting planned than the usual sightseeing. Henley Beach was the perfect choice for a relaxed coastal proposal, with its wide sandy shoreline, jetty and beautiful afternoon light.

There was just one small problem: Kaitlynn was already suspicious! The idea of heading to the beach ‘just for photos’ before dinner didn’t quite add up. She even asked Connor whether he’d organised a photographer. His tiny hesitation before saying no was apparently enough to make her wonder what else he might be hiding.



Planning a Henley Beach Proposal in Adelaide

Henley Beach is a lovely spot for a proposal, particularly if you want that easygoing Adelaide coastal atmosphere. There’s plenty of beach to find a little space together, the jetty gives the location an unmistakable sense of place, and the light can be wonderful as the sun moves towards the horizon. Of course, it can also be busy, so choosing the right position matters just as much as choosing the time.

Connor kept the plan simple. No elaborate decorations or grand production: just the two of them beside the water, with a surprise waiting around the corner. Sometimes that’s exactly what makes a proposal special. The surroundings set the scene, but the real story belongs to the couple.

Meanwhile, I was tucked away near the sand dunes with a clear view of the shoreline, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. Photographing a surprise proposal is a funny balancing act. I need to be far enough away not to give the game away, but close enough to catch the expressions when everything happens. And with no second take, you can imagine how closely I was watching!

Suspicion, Nerves and the Lead-Up to the Proposal

Kaitlynn’s instincts were sharp from the moment they stepped onto the sand. Connor was doing his best to keep everything casual, although knowing you’re about to ask a rather enormous question doesn’t make acting normal particularly easy. He guided them towards the water while she took in the surroundings, still wondering whether there was more to their beach visit.

At one point, Connor suggested taking a few photos on his phone. A perfectly innocent idea on any other afternoon, but perhaps a little suspicious when you’ve already asked whether a photographer is hiding nearby! From my position I could watch the whole thing unfold, including Connor’s attempt to stay composed.

Kaitlynn later mentioned that she’d actually spotted me before the proposal. So much for the world’s greatest disguise! Thankfully, noticing a photographer didn’t take anything away from the excitement of the moment. Connor still had the all-important question to ask, and that was what mattered most.

 

Henley Beach Proposal Photos with Seagulls and Sunshine

Once Connor had asked the question, the nervous energy gave way to smiles, laughter and that wonderfully happy feeling of suddenly being engaged. This is one of my favourite parts of proposal photography. The secret is out, everyone can relax, and the photographs become less about anticipation and more about celebrating what just happened.

The local seagulls also seemed determined to feature in the photos. Rather than waiting for every bird to leave the frame, we had some fun incorporating them into the scene. They added movement, a little chaos and a very Henley Beach character to the portraits.

We wandered along the waterfront as the light changed, making the most of the open ocean, the textures in the sand and the lovely backlighting. I kept things relaxed, offering a little direction when it helped but giving Kaitlynn and Connor plenty of room to enjoy the moment together.

Of course, we couldn’t finish a Henley Beach proposal shoot without spending a little time around the jetty. Its long lines stretching out over the water make such a distinctive backdrop, and a walk along the beachfront gave Kaitlynn and Connor a chance to soak in everything that had just happened.

By this stage, they were both completely at ease. We captured a mix of candid moments, quiet embraces and a few playful portraits, without turning their newly engaged excitement into an overly posed photoshoot. Their natural reactions were doing most of the work for me!

As we made our way back, the lower sun brought an extra warmth to the shoreline. It’s one of the reasons I love photographing couples on Adelaide’s western beaches: even within one short session, the changing light can give you a beautiful variety of images.

A Henley Beach Proposal to Remember

Kaitlynn and Connor’s Henley Beach proposal had a bit of everything: an international love story, a beautifully simple plan, a suspicious bride-to-be and a photographer who wasn’t quite as hidden as he’d hoped. Even so, the moment was completely theirs.

There was no need for anything elaborate. Connor had chosen a setting that suited them, and the joy afterwards gave us all the lovely natural photographs we could have hoped for.

It was such a pleasure to capture this little chapter in their story. Henley Beach provided the backdrop, Connor brought the surprise and Kaitlynn brought the intuition. Together, they made an afternoon by the sea something they’ll remember for a very long time.

Mt Osmond Lookout Proposal – Jacob & Jasmine

There’s a particular kind of excitement that comes with photographing a surprise proposal: a little nerves, a little secrecy, and absolutely no second take. When Jacob first reached out about his Mt Osmond Lookout proposal, it was clear he wanted everything to feel just right. The view from the lookout — sweeping across the Adelaide skyline and stretching out over the suburbs toward the coastline — was the exact backdrop he imagined when asking Jasmine to spend forever with him.

Mt Osmond Lookout is one of those Adelaide spots that makes an impression without needing much decoration. Its elevated position delivers sweeping views over the city and out towards the coast. Couples gravitate here for sunset walks and late afternoon picnics. Jacob loved the idea that it felt scenic and intimate without being too far from the heart of Adelaide. The only slight worry he had was whether the lookout might be busy when the moment arrived.

A little strategy goes a long way with surprise proposals. Jacob and I talked through a few different ways to keep things discreet. One slightly hilarious suggestion involved me hiding in a ghillie suit among the bushes like a stealthy wildlife photographer. The image alone had us laughing. Jacob decided that might be overkill. Instead, the plan became much simpler and much sneakier — I would pose as a casual tourist enjoying the lookout and photographing the scenery.

The large gum tree at the top of the lookout became my cover. From there I could watch the path leading up while still blending in naturally with the environment. Tourists and sightseers wander through Mt Osmond regularly, cameras in hand, so the disguise was surprisingly convincing.

Arriving Early at Mt Osmond Lookout

With proposals, timing is everything. Arriving early gives space to assess the surroundings, check the light, and make sure everything flows smoothly. On the day of Jacob and Jasmine’s Mt Osmond Lookout Proposal, I headed up the hill well before the couple were due to arrive.

The late-afternoon light was softening over Adelaide, with a breeze moving through the gum trees. It was lovely weather for a lookout picnic — and useful light for someone pretending to photograph the scenery.

I settled under the big gum tree exactly as planned, camera beside me, pretending to be fascinated by the view. From that vantage point I could see anyone approaching the lookout while still appearing completely relaxed.

And then something unexpected happened.

Jacob and Jasmine arrived early as well.

They walked right past me on their way up the path before I had even fully settled into character. There’s always a tiny moment of suspense in situations like this where you hope the surprise hasn’t already been blown.

Jacob, clearly feeling the nerves of the moment, made a small comment to Jasmine as they passed. He mentioned that he thought he’d seen me photographing the tree earlier — even though I hadn’t actually taken a single photo yet.

It was one of those classic pre-proposal slips where nerves start doing the talking. Completely harmless, but definitely amusing from my perspective as I tried to maintain my “tourist admiring nature” role.

Luckily Jasmine didn’t think much of it at the time. The plan was still intact.

The Picnic Before the Big Question

After passing by, Jacob and Jasmine continued toward the lookout area where they set up a small picnic. The view across Adelaide from Mt Osmond is stunning, particularly as the sun begins to sink toward the horizon. It’s easy to see why Jacob chose this spot for such an important moment.

From under the gum tree I could see them laying out their picnic and settling in to enjoy the evening. The city below looked almost painted in warm tones as the light shifted across the skyline.

What makes surprise proposal photography in Adelaide fascinating is the delicate balance between staying hidden and staying ready. I needed to remain close enough to capture the moment while not appearing suspicious.

The challenge increased slightly when Jasmine noticed me.

Cameras do tend to draw attention, especially when someone is scanning their surroundings. She glanced over toward my direction and clearly clocked that I had professional gear sitting beside me.

At that moment I realised I needed to reinforce the tourist disguise.

Fortunately, a random group of girls were nearby enjoying the lookout as well. I casually walked over to them, struck up a friendly conversation, and asked if they wouldn’t mind me taking a couple of photos.

Instant credibility.

From Jasmine’s perspective it now looked like I was simply photographing some visitors enjoying the scenery.

Meanwhile, Jacob was preparing for the moment he had been planning for weeks.

The Mt Osmond Lookout Proposal Moment

While I was chatting with the group and snapping a few photos, Jacob made his move.

He turned toward Jasmine, dropped to one knee, and asked the question that had brought everyone to the lookout that evening.

Even though I was mid-conversation with my temporary photo subjects, my attention was completely locked onto the proposal unfolding behind them. Cameras ready, angles lined up, heart quietly cheering.

Jasmine’s reaction was instant.

Pure surprise.

Her hands flew to her face as she realised what was happening. The joy on her expression was unmistakable. Moments like this carry an energy that feels almost electric — that sudden shift from confusion to excitement to emotional overwhelm.

And of course, the answer was yes.

The little undercover plan worked perfectly. Jasmine genuinely believed I had been there photographing the other group, which meant the proposal itself stayed completely authentic and natural.

Once the moment had settled and Jacob revealed that I was actually there for them, the realisation hit and everyone burst out laughing. The surprise element had landed beautifully.

After the proposal excitement settled, it was time to take advantage of the incredible location surrounding us. One of the joys of a Mt Osmond Lookout Proposal is that the scenery immediately lends itself to romantic portraits.

The city spreading out below gave us plenty of options for portraits, while the surrounding bushland offered a completely different feel only a few steps away.

Jacob and Jasmine were still buzzing. With the secret finally out, their laughs and little glances at the ring came without any prompting.

We wandered around the lookout area capturing a mix of relaxed and dramatic images. Some frames featured the sweeping Adelaide skyline behind them. Others leaned into the natural bushland setting with soft eucalyptus leaves catching the golden sunset light.

The large gum tree that had served as my hiding spot earlier even made a cameo appearance in a few photos.

As the sun dropped, soft pink and orange colours appeared over the skyline, giving us a few final sunset portraits.

Jacob and Jasmine embraced the moment completely — laughing, hugging, and occasionally glancing down at the ring with that “is this really happening?” kind of excitement.

Surprise Away At Ancell Proposal – Sekou & Mollie

Sekou and Mollie’s Away At Ancell proposal unfolded among the gum trees and golden grass at a tiny house retreat in Mount Jagged, near Victor Harbor. It was a wonderfully private setting for a surprise, although the open countryside presented one small challenge: where on earth was I going to hide? As an Adelaide proposal photographer, I love finding ways to capture the real moment without giving the game away, and this one called for a particularly entertaining disguise.

Sekou reached out after seeing a proposal video I’d created for one of his acquaintances. He wanted something personal and memorable, without a flashy setup or an audience. Most importantly, he wanted Mollie to have absolutely no idea what was coming. The remote location was perfect for privacy, but it made my undercover role a little trickier.

Mount Jagged has open paddocks, native bushland and beautiful country views. All brilliant for photographs, but not ideal when you need to disappear with a camera. I was a little worried Mollie would spot me before Sekou had the chance to ask the question.

We needed a plan. Preferably one that wouldn’t look completely ridiculous.

Away At Ancell Proposal – The Big Surprise

Our solution? Go full country mode.

If I couldn’t hide, I’d blend in. We came up with the cunning plan for me to dress as a local farmer, wandering around the property “checking for weeds” or “looking for snakes.” I threw on work gear, carried spraying equipment, and positioned myself at a distance where I could appear convincingly busy while keeping a clear line of sight to the tiny home.

From afar, I must have looked like just another person tending to the land. Mollie didn’t suspect a thing.

Sekou had organised the getaway as an early celebration for Mollie’s birthday the following day. As far as she knew, they were enjoying a quiet pre-birthday escape together. It was the perfect cover story, and she had no reason to suspect anything else.

As they strolled outside the tiny house, framed by the soft countryside landscape, Sekou paused. My farmer act continued in the background. I could feel the shift in energy even from where I stood. He turned toward Mollie. His posture changed. His hands steadied. Then he dropped to one knee right in front of the little home.

Camera out. Farmer no more.

Mollie’s hands flew to her face before the biggest smile appeared. She was genuinely stunned. Sekou looked pretty thrilled himself, especially now that he could stop keeping such an enormous secret. Their secluded Away At Ancell proposal had gone exactly as he hoped.

After the yes — which came quickly and happily — Mollie was full of praise for Sekou’s ability to keep the secret. She replayed every tiny detail out loud, trying to figure out how he’d managed it without slipping up. The birthday getaway story had worked flawlessly. Not a single suspicion.

That’s the part of surprise proposal photography I never tire of: the completely unguarded reactions you simply couldn’t recreate afterwards.

Golden Hour Engagement Photos at Away At Ancell

With the nerves out of the way and a new ring on Mollie’s hand, we wandered around the property for a few relaxed engagement portraits. One of the lovely things about Away At Ancell is that the scenery is right outside the tiny house.

The surrounding gum trees gave us natural framing, while the long grass added movement and texture. Rather than rush between locations, we could let Sekou and Mollie enjoy being newly engaged and make the most of the peaceful countryside.

We made our way toward the little pond tucked into the property. Reflections danced on the surface while Mollie admired her ring again and again. Sekou couldn’t stop smiling. The energy had shifted from suspense to celebration.

Then the sun decided to show off.

As the sun dropped lower, its light began filtering through the gum trees. Those changing patches of warmth gave us some lovely backlit portraits, with a few playful lens flares thrown in.

I guided them into the nicest pockets of light, keeping the posing minimal so their excitement could do the rest. Between Mollie admiring her ring and Sekou grinning away, there was plenty happening naturally without me needing to manufacture a moment.

The Mount Jagged countryside made a refreshing change from a busy Adelaide city location, with room to move and no need to dodge people in the background.

Why Away At Ancell Is Perfect for Proposals

Away At Ancell is a lovely option for couples who prefer a private getaway to a public proposal. The tiny house and surrounding land provide a peaceful backdrop, and the property has several spots that worked nicely for portraits after the surprise.

For photography, the open space, trees, pond and changing afternoon light offer plenty of variety without travelling anywhere. The one catch, as my farmer disguise demonstrated, is that you need a sensible plan for keeping your photographer discreet!

The little house also made the proposal feel personal. There were no crowds watching, just Sekou and Mollie enjoying what she thought was a birthday getaway.

A Mount Jagged Proposal to Remember

Looking back on Sekou and Mollie’s afternoon, my favourite detail is still that wonderfully unlikely farmer disguise. I’d turned up pretending to check the property, and somehow Mollie never questioned it.

After the proposal, they could wander hand in hand past the pond and through the grass, enjoying the rest of their getaway without another secret to keep.

Away At Ancell was a great match for what Sekou wanted: somewhere quiet, beautiful and just for the two of them.

Between the undercover farmer act, Mollie’s delighted reaction and those sunset portraits, it was a terrific afternoon to photograph. Sekou put a lot of thought into making it personal, and it showed.

Stunning Pt Willunga Beach Proposal – Lula & Hawie

Some proposals involve military-level planning, secret messages and one very determined family member working behind the scenes. Lula and Hawie’s Port Willunga Beach proposal was one of those occasions! Hawie’s brother was the chief organiser, helping coordinate flowers, the location and all the little details needed to make the surprise happen. My job as an Adelaide surprise proposal photographer was to help choose a beautiful spot and be ready when the big moment arrived.

Port Willunga was an easy choice. Its striking cliffs, historic jetty ruins and sandy shoreline make it one of South Australia’s most recognisable coastal locations. With Blanche Point just around the corner, we also had the opportunity to finish the afternoon with a few portraits overlooking the ocean. Of course, organising a secret proposal at a popular beach in the middle of summer comes with a few challenges of its own!

Port Willunga Beach Proposal – Lula & Hawie

A heatwave, the tail end of the school holidays and one of Adelaide’s favourite beaches made for a very busy afternoon. By the time the flowers were ready, Port Willunga was full of families, swimmers and visitors enjoying the summer weather. A lovely atmosphere for a beach day, but not quite the private setting we had imagined for Hawie’s proposal.

When Lula and Hawie arrived, we needed to adapt. The floral arrangement was moved farther along the cliffs to a quieter section of the beach, away from the main flow of people. It was a slightly frantic change of plan, but absolutely worthwhile. A little flexibility can make all the difference when photographing a surprise proposal somewhere as popular as Port Willunga.

The move also left me with fewer places to hide! With the cliffs narrowing the available angles, I did my best to stay inconspicuous while keeping the couple in view. Lula spotted me almost immediately and cheerfully said hello. So much for remaining completely undercover! By this stage she could tell something was going on, and Hawie’s excitement was becoming rather hard to disguise.

Then Hawie dropped to one knee, and everything else faded into the background. Lula’s reaction was wonderful: surprise, huge smiles and a long embrace as the two of them took in what had just happened. Even with a few clues along the way, the moment itself was every bit as meaningful.

The afternoon light was beginning to soften across the beach, warming the sand and cliffs as we photographed their first moments as an engaged couple. There was plenty of laughter, a little disbelief and that lovely sense of relief when weeks of secret planning finally pay off.

What I particularly enjoyed was how naturally Lula and Hawie interacted once the nerves were gone. There was no need to manufacture emotion or ask them to recreate the proposal. The happy conversations, cuddles and excited smiles told the story beautifully on their own.

Engagement Photos Along the Port Willunga Cliffs and Shoreline

Once they’d had a moment to celebrate, we wandered along the shoreline for some relaxed engagement portraits. The towering cliffs gave us a dramatic backdrop, while the open beach allowed plenty of room for natural, unposed photographs as Lula and Hawie walked together.

The remains of Port Willunga’s old jetty are such a distinctive feature of this stretch of coastline. Their weathered timbers add texture and a strong sense of place to the images. We made the most of the scenery without turning the session into a heavily directed photoshoot; the pair were far too busy enjoying their engagement for that.

We also stopped by the caves along the foreshore, which offered a change from the bright, open beach. Their sheltered spaces and darker textures brought a different mood to the portraits, and gave Lula and Hawie a quieter moment together away from the summer crowds.

Sunset Engagement Photos at Blanche Point

As sunset approached, we made our way up to Blanche Point for one last set of photographs. We were cutting it rather fine! The best light doesn’t hang around just because a photographer has a few more ideas, so we moved quickly to make the most of those final minutes.

It was worth the rush. From the clifftop, the coastline opened up beneath us and the fading light gave Lula and Hawie a beautiful backdrop for their final portraits. After the busy beach and the excitement of the proposal, it was a lovely, peaceful way to finish the session.

By then the nerves, the crowds and the hurried change of location were all behind us. There were just two very happy people taking in an extraordinary afternoon together.

A Port Willunga Proposal Full of Heart

Lula and Hawie’s Port Willunga Beach proposal had thoughtful family planning, summer heat, a last-minute relocation and one very successful question. Hawie’s brother had helped bring the surprise together, and even though Lula spotted her photographer, the excitement of the moment certainly wasn’t lost.

From the flowers beneath the cliffs to the old jetty, coastal caves and our dash to Blanche Point, their photographs tell the story of the whole afternoon rather than just the instant Hawie got down on one knee.
