How to Create a Wedding QR Code to Collect Photos

If there’s one thing we’ve learned after photographing hundreds of weddings across South Australia and beyond, it’s that guests capture some truly wonderful moments.

While your professional photographer will document the big moments beautifully, your guests are often snapping candid photos throughout the day – from emotional hugs before the ceremony to hilarious dance floor antics late into the evening. These are often the moments couples love seeing after the wedding, but there’s one problem.

Getting those photos from your guests can be surprisingly difficult.

Guests promise they’ll send them. Some do. Most forget.

That’s where a wedding QR code can make a huge difference.

By displaying a simple QR code at your wedding, guests can instantly upload their photos and videos to a shared gallery throughout the day. No chasing people afterwards, no messy group chats, and no wondering what photos might be sitting forgotten on someone’s phone.

What Is a Wedding QR Code?

A wedding QR code is a scannable code that directs guests to a webpage designed specifically for your wedding.

Traditionally, couples have used QR codes to share information such as:

  • Seating plans
  • Wedding schedules
  • RSVP forms
  • Gift registries
  • Wedding websites

More recently, QR codes have become incredibly popular for collecting guest photos and videos.

Guests simply scan the code with their smartphone camera and are taken directly to an upload page where they can contribute photos and videos from the day.

There’s no need to install an app, create an account, or remember a complicated website address.

Everything happens in seconds.

Why Collect Guest Photos?

Professional wedding photography is incredibly important, but guest photos offer something different.

Your photographer can’t be everywhere at once.

While we’re capturing your ceremony, portraits and reception highlights, guests are often documenting moments happening in the background.

You might discover:

  • Funny dance floor moments
  • Behind-the-scenes bridal preparation photos
  • Group selfies
  • Family interactions
  • Children’s reactions
  • Photos from guest tables
  • Late-night celebrations

These images often tell parts of the story that would otherwise go unseen.

Many couples tell us that looking through guest photos after the wedding feels like experiencing the day from dozens of different perspectives.

The Problem With Traditional Photo Sharing

Years ago, couples would ask guests to email photos after the wedding.

Then came Facebook albums.

Then WhatsApp groups.

Then shared cloud folders.

While all of these methods work to some degree, they rely on guests remembering to upload photos later.

Unfortunately, later often becomes never.

The longer you wait after the wedding, the less likely guests are to share their images.

The best systems capture photos while guests are already engaged and excited during the wedding itself.

That’s why QR code photo sharing has become so popular.

How to Create a Wedding QR Code to collect photos

Creating a wedding QR code is much easier than most couples realise.

The process generally looks like this:

Step 1: Choose a Photo Collection Platform

You’ll need a destination for your QR code.

Rather than linking guests to a generic folder or cloud drive, it’s usually best to use a platform designed specifically for weddings.

There are many to choose from, but two popular options created by SvenStudios are:

SelfBooth

SelfBooth is a dedicated wedding photo and video sharing platform designed specifically for collecting guest memories.

Guests can:

  • Upload photos
  • Upload videos
  • View shared content
  • Participate in live slideshows
  • Access galleries through a QR code

One of the biggest advantages is that guests don’t need to download an app or create an account before participating.

Everything happens directly through their browser.

Camera Camera Check Out Selfbooth

Happlee QR

Happlee QR takes the concept even further.

Instead of simply collecting photos, it creates an interactive wedding hub that guests can access using a single QR code.

Depending on which features you enable, guests can:

  • Upload photos and videos
  • Sign a digital guest book
  • View seating plans
  • Participate in live polls
  • Play couple trivia
  • Join leaderboards
  • Access wedding information
  • Discover interactive wedding activities

Rather than feeling like a simple upload tool, Happlee QR becomes part of the wedding experience itself.

Camera Camera Check out Happlee QR

Step 2: Generate Your QR Code

Once you’ve created your event, the platform will automatically generate a unique QR code linked to your wedding.

This QR code can then be:

  • Printed on signs
  • Added to table cards
  • Included in wedding programs
  • Displayed on screens
  • Added to invitations

Guests simply point their phone camera at the code and follow the link.

No special software is required.

Step 3: Display the QR Code Around Your Venue

One of the biggest mistakes couples make is only displaying the QR code once.

Remember that guests move around throughout the day.

The more opportunities people have to scan the code, the more photos you’ll collect.

Good locations include:

Reception Tables

Small table signs are one of the most effective options.

Guests are seated for extended periods and can easily scan while chatting or waiting for meals.

Bar Areas

People spend a surprising amount of time near the bar throughout the evening.

Welcome Signs

A QR code near the entrance encourages guests to join from the beginning of the day.

DJ or Dance Floor Screens

Displaying the code periodically during the reception can significantly increase participation.

Step 4: Give Guests a Reason to Keep Scanning

The most successful wedding QR codes to collect photos aren’t just photo upload links — they’re part of the wedding experience itself.

While your MC can certainly encourage guests to upload photos throughout the day, engagement tends to be much higher when guests have other reasons to visit the QR code regularly.

For example, platforms like Happlee QR allow guests to do much more than simply upload photos. They can participate in live polls, test their knowledge with couple trivia, leave messages in a digital guest book, discover hidden wedding challenges, view seating information and compete on a live leaderboard.

Because guests keep returning to interact with these features throughout the wedding, they’re naturally reminded to upload the photos and videos they’ve captured along the way.

Your MC might say something like:

“Don’t forget to scan the QR code on your table. You can upload your photos and videos, leave a message for the newlyweds, play today’s couple trivia and see how you’re tracking on the leaderboard!”

By making the QR code part of the entertainment rather than simply a photo collection tool, couples often receive significantly more guest contributions and create a far more interactive experience for everyone attending.

Why QR Codes Work So Well at Weddings

QR codes remove friction.

Every extra step reduces participation.

If guests need to:

  • Download an app
  • Create an account
  • Enter passwords
  • Join a group
  • Remember a link

Many simply won’t bother.

Modern smartphones make QR codes almost effortless.

Scan.

Tap.

Upload.

Done.

The easier the process becomes, the more photos you’ll receive.

Can Guests Upload Videos Too?

Absolutely.

Many couples are now collecting both photos and videos.

Videos often capture moments that photos can’t.

Think:

  • Speeches
  • Dance floor action
  • Singing
  • Laughter
  • Guest messages
  • Surprise performances

Platforms such as SelfBooth and Happlee QR allow guests to contribute both photos and videos, creating a much richer record of the day.

Is a Wedding QR Code to Collect Photos Better Than Disposable Cameras?

Disposable cameras have become trendy again, but they come with several drawbacks.

They can be:

  • Expensive
  • Limited to a small number of photos
  • Easy to lose
  • Slow to develop
  • Low quality in dark reception venues

QR code photo sharing offers many of the same candid benefits while providing:

  • Unlimited uploads
  • Instant access
  • Higher image quality
  • Video support
  • No film processing costs

For most modern weddings, QR-based sharing provides significantly better value.

The Future of Wedding Photo Sharing

The wedding QR code to collect photos has evolved far beyond simple links.

Modern couples increasingly want guest experiences that feel interactive and engaging rather than purely functional.

That’s one reason platforms like Happlee QR have become so popular.

Instead of using one QR code for photos, another for seating plans, another for guest books and another for wedding information, everything can live in a single place.

Guests scan once and immediately have access to the entire wedding experience.

Bride playfully raises her bouquet for the toss as flower girls gather on the wedding reception dance floor.

If you’re looking for an easy and affordable way to collect guest photos, a wedding QR code is one of the best solutions available.

It removes barriers, encourages participation and helps ensure those candid memories don’t disappear into hundreds of guest camera rolls after the wedding.

Whether you choose a dedicated photo-sharing platform like SelfBooth or an all-in-one wedding experience like Happlee QR, setting up a wedding QR code can take just a few minutes and potentially save hundreds of precious memories.

After all, your wedding only happens once.

The more memories you can preserve, the better.

And sometimes the photos you’ll treasure most are the ones captured by the people celebrating right alongside you.

SA Marriage Office Wedding – Melissa & Kyran

Not every wedding day needs grand ballrooms, sprawling vineyards, or elaborate styling to feel meaningful. Melissa and Kyran chose a completely different approach, celebrating their marriage with an intimate SA Marriage Office wedding in Glenelg surrounded by the people who matter most to them.

When Melissa first reached out, she mentioned that she connected with the storytelling approach in my photography. Hearing that is always incredibly rewarding. Every couple has a unique story, and some of the most memorable wedding days are often the simplest. Melissa and Kyran’s celebration was a perfect example of that. Their focus wasn’t on creating a huge event. It was about making things official, sharing the moment with loved ones, and enjoying the day together.

The SA Marriage Office offers a practical and straightforward option for couples looking for a no-fuss wedding ceremony. The space itself is quite small, creating a cosy environment where everyone feels close to the action. There are no extravagant decorations or dramatic entrances. Instead, the emphasis remains firmly on the commitment being made between two people.

SA Marriage Office Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony itself was short, simple, and heartfelt. The SA Marriage Office specialises in creating an efficient experience for couples, making it ideal for those who prefer something intimate without the complexity of organising a larger wedding.

As Melissa entered the room alongside her son, every eye immediately turned towards them. The smile on Kyran’s face said everything. There was an unmistakable sense of excitement as the ceremony began, with family and friends gathered closely around to witness the moment.

The compact room created a unique atmosphere where nobody felt disconnected from what was happening. Every laugh, every smile, and every emotional glance could be shared by everyone present. The smaller setting actually enhanced the experience, allowing guests to feel fully involved rather than simply observing from a distance.

Their son confidently carried out his role as ring bearer, creating one of those naturally candid moments that always become treasured memories. Children have a wonderful way of bringing authenticity to weddings, and his involvement added an extra layer of personality to the ceremony.

Within a relatively short time, Melissa and Kyran exchanged vows, signed the paperwork, and officially became husband and wife. Applause filled the room as congratulations flowed from every corner. The happiness among their family and friends was impossible to miss.

One thing I always appreciate about smaller ceremonies is how quickly everyone settles into celebrating. There is no lengthy schedule to navigate or extensive formalities to manage. The focus remains entirely on the couple and the significance of the occasion. Melissa and Kyran embraced that simplicity beautifully.

Because the booking at the marriage office was limited to a one-hour timeframe, we didn’t spend too long inside after the ceremony concluded. Family photographs were completed efficiently, allowing everyone to continue the celebrations elsewhere while still making the most of the available time.

Glamour Photos

Following the ceremony, we made our way towards the Glenelg docks where a lunchtime reception had been organised. Before joining their guests, we took the opportunity to sneak away for some glamour photographs around one of Adelaide’s most popular coastal locations.

Glenelg is always a fantastic choice for wedding photography. The combination of marina views, boats, boardwalks, and ocean scenery provides plenty of variety within a relatively small area. Even on a tight timeline, it’s possible to create a diverse collection of images without needing to travel far.

Melissa and Kyran were wonderfully relaxed in front of the camera. Their laid-back nature suited the surroundings perfectly. There was no pressure to create overly posed photographs. Instead, we focused on capturing genuine interactions and natural moments together as newlyweds.

The marina offered some beautiful backdrops, with reflections dancing across the water and boats creating a classic coastal feel. The clean lines of the docks complemented the simplicity of their wedding day, producing images that felt elegant without being overly formal.

From there, we wandered towards the Glenelg Jetty for a few more portraits. The jetty remains one of the most iconic photography locations in Adelaide and never disappoints. The open views across Gulf St Vincent create a sense of space that contrasts beautifully with the intimate nature of the ceremony that had taken place earlier in the day.

Melissa looked radiant as she walked along the jetty, while Kyran couldn’t stop smiling whenever he looked at her. Those authentic reactions are always the moments I enjoy photographing most. Genuine emotion creates photographs that remain meaningful for decades.

The relaxed pace of the afternoon allowed us to work efficiently while still enjoying the experience. There was plenty of laughter, a few quiet moments together, and countless opportunities to document their connection naturally. Nothing felt rushed despite the relatively short photography coverage.

Before long, it was time to head back towards the docks where their lunchtime reception awaited. Friends and family were ready to continue celebrating, and the newlyweds were eager to join them.

Melissa and Kyran’s SA Marriage Office wedding was a wonderful reminder that weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Some couples dream of large-scale celebrations, while others prefer a more intimate approach. Neither option is more meaningful than the other. What matters most is creating a day that feels authentic to the people getting married.

Their Glenelg wedding delivered exactly that. A simple ceremony, meaningful family involvement, beautiful waterfront portraits, and quality time spent with loved ones. Every element reflected who they are as a couple.

As a wedding photographer in Adelaide, it’s always a privilege to document celebrations like these. Melissa and Kyran proved that a wedding doesn’t need extravagance to be memorable. Sometimes the smallest gatherings create the biggest memories.

Congratulations again to Melissa and Kyran. Thank you for inviting me to capture such a personal and joyful chapter of your story.

Basket Range Wedding at The Manor – Leah & Wes

There is something incredibly special about a family-focused wedding, and Leah and Wes created exactly that during their beautiful Basket Range Wedding at The Manor. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the day was filled with laughter, happy chaos, heartfelt moments, and plenty of personality. The weather kept everyone guessing, with overcast skies hanging over the Adelaide Hills from morning until night. Rain threatened throughout the day, yet somehow held off whenever we needed to be outside.

The Manor Basket Range always provides a stunning backdrop for weddings. Its castle-inspired architecture, manicured gardens, charming chapel, and sweeping views across the Adelaide Hills make it one of South Australia’s most unique wedding venues. Every corner offers something different, which is part of what makes photographing a Basket Range Wedding here so enjoyable.

Leah and Wes approached their wedding day exactly as they approach life together—relaxed, fun-loving, and surrounded by the people who matter most. Their son played a huge role throughout the celebrations, while family members jumped in wherever needed. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived until the final song played on the dance floor.

Leah’s Preparation

My day began at Leah’s parents’ home where she and her bridesmaids were busy having their hair and makeup completed. The house buzzed with excitement as everyone moved between appointments, checked dresses, and shared stories. Leah’s mum was keeping a close eye on everything, making sure the day remained on track and that no detail was overlooked.

One of my favourite moments from the morning happened when the girls discovered Leah’s baby photo albums. Before long they were gathered around the books, laughing at old photos and reminiscing about childhood memories. Those unscripted moments often become some of the most meaningful photographs from a wedding day. The room was filled with laughter as pages turned and stories surfaced.

Once everyone had arrived at The Manor Basket Range, the girls took over the upper level of the castle while the boys made a strategic retreat downstairs. Surrounded by her bridesmaids, Leah stepped into her wedding gown and completed the final touches of her look. Excitement filled the room as dresses were adjusted, bouquets were gathered, and everyone admired how beautifully everything had come together. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful, with plenty of laughter echoing through the historic halls.

Before heading to see Wesley, Leah shared a special first look with her dad. Standing together inside the castle, he got his first glimpse of his daughter ready for her wedding day. It was a lovely moment between the two of them, filled with proud smiles and quiet appreciation before the celebrations moved outdoors.

Wes’ Preparation

When I arrived at The Manor, the boys were already deep into their preparations. Wesley was having his hair and beard professionally styled, and it quickly became clear this wasn’t going to be your average groom prep session.

The impressive collection of beards among the groomsmen became part of the entertainment. Flowers, metal ornaments, and decorative pieces were carefully worked into the facial hair, creating some truly memorable photographs. It was impossible not to laugh while documenting the process. Even the couple’s young son joined the fun and had his own hair styled alongside the adults.

The boys spent most of the morning joking with one another and keeping the atmosphere relaxed. There was plenty of friendly banter, playful teasing, and the kind of camaraderie that makes groom preparations enjoyable to photograph. Nobody seemed overly concerned about formalities. They were simply enjoying the experience together.

Once the boys were dressed and ready, they retreated from the upper levels of the castle to allow Leah and her bridesmaids to take over the space. The changeover happened smoothly and gave everyone a chance to prepare for the next part of the day.

First Look

Behind The Manor’s chapel sits a beautiful garden area that offers privacy while still showcasing the venue’s gorgeous surroundings. It was the perfect location for Leah and Wes to see one another before the ceremony.

Many first looks are filled with tears and overwhelming emotion. Leah and Wes took a slightly different approach. The moment was full of laughter rather than tears. They spent most of their time joking around, smiling, and enjoying each other’s company. It perfectly reflected their personalities and relationship.

Their relaxed attitude made for some wonderful candid photographs. Nothing felt forced or overly serious. They were simply happy to be together and excited for the celebrations ahead. Those genuine interactions often create the most natural images.

The first look also allowed us to complete family photographs before the ceremony. With guests beginning to arrive, we were able to capture group photos while everyone was fresh and relaxed. This planning made the rest of the day flow beautifully and reduced the amount of formal photography required later.

The Manor Basket Range Wedding Ceremony

Guests gradually gathered around the picturesque garden ceremony space in front of The Manor’s charming chapel. The setting couldn’t have been more beautiful. Despite the threatening skies above, conditions remained perfect as everyone took their seats.

Leah made her entrance down the winding garden path, accompanied by her bridesmaids. The backdrop of lush greenery and historic stonework created a stunning scene. There was plenty of anticipation as guests turned to watch her approach.

The true stars of the ceremony, however, may have been the children armed with bubble guns. Throughout the proceedings they enthusiastically filled the air with bubbles, creating a playful atmosphere that had guests smiling from ear to ear. The floating bubbles looked incredible in photographs and added an unexpected layer of fun to the ceremony.

At one point, one of the young boys decided the ceremony wasn’t nearly as exciting as exploring elsewhere and made a break for freedom. Poor grandma immediately sprang into action and chased after him while guests tried to suppress their laughter. It was one of those perfectly imperfect moments that everyone will remember.

The ceremony itself was sweet, heartfelt, and deeply personal. Leah and Wes exchanged meaningful vows before taking part in a handfasting ceremony, symbolising their commitment to one another. Family remained at the centre of everything, making the entire experience feel incredibly intimate despite the large gathering of guests.

Glamour Photos

With the ceremony complete, we moved quickly into glamour photos. Time was not exactly on our side, but The Manor Basket Range offers such a variety of beautiful locations that we were able to work efficiently while still creating a diverse collection of images.

The castle-inspired architecture provided a dramatic backdrop for many of the portraits. Stone walls, elegant staircases, grand windows, and sweeping views across the Adelaide Hills gave us countless options without needing to travel far. Every turn seemed to reveal another perfect spot.

Leah and Wes remained wonderfully relaxed throughout the session. Rather than focusing on posed perfection, they spent most of the time laughing together and enjoying a few quiet moments away from their guests. Their natural connection made photographing them incredibly easy.

The overcast skies actually worked in our favour. Soft, diffused light covered the venue throughout the afternoon, creating flattering conditions for portraits. While we had been watching the weather all day, the clouds ended up providing beautiful lighting without delivering any rain.

The Manor Basket Range Wedding Reception

Following the portrait session, everyone made their way upstairs for the reception celebrations. The atmosphere shifted immediately as guests settled in for an evening of food, speeches, and dancing.

One of the standout features of the night was undoubtedly the roaming cannoli bar. Watching trays of freshly filled cannoli making their way through the reception had guests very excited. It quickly became a crowd favourite and added a unique touch to the evening’s catering.

The speeches were heartfelt, funny, and packed with stories from throughout Leah and Wes’ lives together. There were plenty of laughs, a few emotional moments, and countless reminders of how loved the couple are by those around them.

As the formalities wrapped up, the dance floor came alive. Guests wasted no time filling the space and keeping it busy for the remainder of the evening. Every time I glanced over, there seemed to be even more people dancing than before. The energy remained high right through until the end of coverage.

Leah and Wes created a wedding day that perfectly reflected who they are—family-oriented, relaxed, welcoming, and full of fun. Their Basket Range Wedding at The Manor combined beautiful scenery, meaningful traditions, plenty of laughter, and a wonderful group of family and friends. It was an absolute pleasure to capture every moment and celebrate alongside them in one of the Adelaide Hills’ most iconic wedding venues.

Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding – Lauren & Bek

As an Adelaide wedding photographer, there are some venues that seem perfectly suited to relaxed, personality-filled celebrations. A Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding is one of those experiences. Surrounded by rolling countryside, lakeside views, charming accommodation, and plenty of room to create a day that feels completely your own, it was the ideal setting for Lauren and Bek’s beautiful celebration.

The weather kept us guessing from the very beginning. Rain was forecast throughout the day and there were moments when dark clouds rolled overhead, but fortunately the drizzle stayed fairly light. We found ourselves keeping one eye on the sky while moving between locations, yet somehow everything seemed to fall into place exactly when it needed to. A sprinkle here and there added to the atmosphere without ever getting in the way of the fun.

Lauren and Bek embraced every part of the day with huge smiles. Their easy-going attitude made the weather feel completely irrelevant. Rather than worrying about what the clouds were doing, they focused on enjoying every second with their family, friends, and each other. That energy carried through the entire wedding and made documenting the day an absolute pleasure.

A Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding always offers plenty of opportunities for beautiful photographs, and despite the changing conditions, this wedding showcased exactly why the venue continues to be such a popular choice for Adelaide couples seeking a relaxed country celebration.

Preparation

The morning began at a charming tiny home bed and breakfast located near the venue. Lauren and Bek chose to get ready together in the same location, creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere filled with laughter, excitement, and dancing! While they shared the morning with one another, they cleverly kept the final stages of getting dressed separate so they could still enjoy the excitement of seeing each other for the first time later in the day.

The cosy accommodation created a lovely backdrop for those preparation photographs. The natural timber finishes, country styling, and intimate spaces added warmth to every image.

One of my favourite parts of the morning was seeing how calm everyone remained despite the weather forecast. Umbrellas sat nearby as a precaution, but nobody seemed concerned. The focus remained firmly on celebrating Lauren and Bek’s relationship and preparing for the exciting day ahead.

As hair, makeup, dresses, and final details came together, there was a growing sense of anticipation. The excitement became contagious as everyone realised the ceremony was only a short time away. The atmosphere was light-hearted and full of genuine happiness.

First Look

One of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly Lauren and Bek’s first look. Having spent the morning getting ready in the same accommodation, they still managed to preserve that magical moment of seeing each other fully dressed for the first time.

Their beautiful vintage Volkswagen Kombi van played a starring role in this part of the day. Positioned along the dirt pathway leading into the property, it provided the perfect backdrop for their first look photographs. The classic styling of the vehicle suited the country setting beautifully and added so much character to the images.

As the two approached one another, the nerves quickly turned into huge smiles. There was plenty of laughter and more than a few emotional moments as they took in the sight of one another ready for their wedding ceremony. These quiet moments away from guests often create some of the most authentic photographs of the entire day.

Of course, once the first look was complete, we couldn’t resist making full use of the Kombi van. The vehicle became the focus of a fun mini photoshoot, allowing Lauren and Bek to relax, enjoy the moment, and settle into the day before the ceremony began. The combination of the country road, rolling landscape, and vintage vehicle created a wonderful collection of images that perfectly matched the personality of the wedding.

Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place overlooking the picturesque grounds of Tiny House on the Prairie. As guests gathered, a gentle drizzle began to fall. Fortunately it remained light enough that nobody seemed bothered by it. In many ways it added a romantic atmosphere to the ceremony rather than creating any inconvenience.

One particularly meaningful feature of the ceremony was a beautiful sand ceremony that involved not only Lauren and Bek, but also their family members and wedding party. Before the ceremony officially began, each person contributed a portion of coloured sand into a bottle displayed on a table at the front.

As the ceremony progressed, Lauren and Bek completed the tradition by adding their own sand to finish the arrangement. Watching the different colours combine into a single display created a powerful visual representation of the people who had helped shape their lives and support their relationship. It was a thoughtful and heartfelt touch that everyone appreciated.

Another crowd favourite was undoubtedly the ring bearer. Their adorable dog took on the important role and brought plenty of entertainment to the proceedings. Full of energy and excitement, the little pup bounced around enthusiastically and kept guests smiling throughout the ceremony.

The combination of meaningful traditions, a relaxed atmosphere, and the occasional light drizzle created a ceremony that felt incredibly personal. As Lauren and Bek exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends, the weather became little more than a backdrop to an unforgettable moment.

Glamour Photos

By the time we began the glamour photo session, the weather had started to improve dramatically. The rain clouds gradually drifted away and the evening became increasingly beautiful as the light softened across the property.

The lake at Tiny House on the Prairie provided the perfect setting for many of the photographs. One of the venue’s standout features, the lake creates stunning reflections and offers countless opportunities for natural, romantic imagery. Lauren and Bek were eager to explore the property and make the most of everything it had to offer.

One of the things I loved most about photographing this couple was their willingness to be playful. They weren’t interested in standing perfectly still or taking themselves too seriously. Instead, they embraced the fun side of the experience. Silly moments, spontaneous laughs, and genuine interactions became some of the strongest photographs from the entire day.

The relaxed atmosphere encouraged creativity and allowed their personalities to shine through. Every time I suggested an idea, they found a way to add their own twist and make it uniquely theirs. Those authentic moments always create the most memorable images.

Their guests were equally enthusiastic. Throughout the afternoon and evening, we managed to sneak in plenty of fun portraits featuring family and friends as well. Many guests jumped at the opportunity to have their own little photoshoot around the venue, creating additional memories beyond the formal wedding coverage.

As golden light settled over the property, the combination of clear skies, lakeside scenery, and a genuinely joyful couple created a dream setting for photography. The weather had well and truly redeemed itself.

Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding Reception

The reception showcased another fantastic aspect of a Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding. Lauren and Bek made excellent use of the venue’s newly renovated indoor reception space, which provided a comfortable and stylish setting for speeches and formalities.

The room looked fantastic as guests settled in for dinner and celebrations. Warm lighting and elegant styling created a welcoming atmosphere while providing shelter from any lingering uncertainty in the weather. It was the perfect location for heartfelt speeches, plenty of laughter, and a few emotional moments.

Stories from family and friends highlighted just how loved Lauren and Bek are. The room frequently erupted into laughter as memorable moments were shared, followed closely by tears as guests reflected on the couple’s journey together. The combination of humour and heartfelt emotion created an atmosphere that felt incredibly genuine.

Once the formalities wrapped up, everyone moved outside to one of the most magical features of the venue. The fairy light-lined dance floor came to life as the evening celebrations shifted into party mode. The soft glow of the lights created a stunning backdrop for Lauren and Bek’s first dance.

Watching the couple share their first dance beneath the twinkling lights was a beautiful way to end the formal part of the evening. Guests quickly joined them on the dance floor, filling the space with energy and excitement.

The remainder of the night unfolded exactly as every wedding should: surrounded by family, friends, laughter, dancing, and plenty of unforgettable memories. Despite the drizzly start, the weather ultimately delivered a beautiful evening, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the incredible surroundings that make Tiny House on the Prairie such a sought-after wedding venue.

Lauren and Bek’s wedding perfectly demonstrated why a Tiny House on the Prairie Wedding remains one of the most charming wedding venues in South Australia. From the heartfelt first look beside the Kombi van and the meaningful sand ceremony to the lakeside glamour photographs and fairy-lit dance floor, every part of the day reflected their personalities and love story. It was an absolute joy to photograph and a wonderful reminder that a little drizzle can never dampen a truly great wedding day.

Loxton’s St Peter’s Church Wedding – Madeline & Brayden

Travelling throughout South Australia for weddings always brings a little excitement, especially when it means heading out to beautiful Riverland locations like Loxton. Madeline and Brayden’s wedding day was one of those celebrations that felt wonderfully relaxed from beginning to end, even with the weather keeping everyone guessing.

As a wedding photographer based in Adelaide, I often find some of the most memorable weddings happen in country towns. There is a genuine warmth that comes with regional weddings, where family, friends, and community all seem to play an important role. Madeline and Brayden’s St Peter’s Church Wedding in Loxton was filled with those kinds of moments.

Rain was forecast for most of the day, and every weather app seemed determined to keep us on edge. Fortunately, the timing couldn’t have worked out much better. Every time we needed to be outside, the skies largely cooperated, allowing us to capture plenty of beautiful images throughout the day without getting drenched.

Brayden’s Preparation

My day began with a quick visit to Madeline before making my way over to one of the most unique preparation locations I’ve encountered in recent years.

The groom and his groomsmen were getting ready aboard the Murray River Queen paddle steamer, permanently moored along the banks of the Murray River. The paddle boat provided a fantastic backdrop for photographs, combining rustic timber interiors with plenty of character. Even more special was the fact that Madeline and Brayden planned to spend their first night as husband and wife there after the wedding celebrations concluded.

The boys were laid back. There was no rushing around or unnecessary stress. Shirts were buttoned, ties were adjusted, jackets were slipped on, and everyone simply got on with the job.

Of course, no wedding day is completely free from little surprises. During preparations, one of Brayden’s shirt buttons decided it had other plans and popped off at exactly the wrong moment. Thankfully it was a quick fix, and moments like these often become some of the funniest stories couples remember afterwards. Weddings are never about perfection. They are about celebrating the journey, including the little hiccups that become part of the story.

Madeline’s Preparation

Earlier in the morning, I had spent some time with Madeline and her bridal party while hair and makeup preparations were underway.

The atmosphere at the family home was calm and happy. There was plenty of excitement in the air as everyone watched the morning gradually unfold. The bridal party shared stories, laughed together, and enjoyed those final hours before the ceremony.

Once hair and makeup were complete, attention shifted to getting into dresses. The beautiful details of Madeline’s gown came together perfectly, creating a lovely contrast against the soft natural light flowing through the home.

One particularly emotional moment arrived when Madeline shared a first look with her father. These moments always hold a special place in a wedding day. Watching a father see his daughter fully dressed and ready for marriage often creates genuine reactions that can’t be staged. The smiles, the tears, and the pride on display made for some truly meaningful photographs.

As departure time approached, the wind began to strengthen outside. It became clear that lingering around wasn’t going to be an option. Everyone quickly piled into cars and headed for the church before the weather could decide to cause any trouble.

Loxton’s St Peter’s Church Wedding Ceremony

St Peter’s Church is a lovely location for a wedding ceremony and proved to be a wonderful setting for Madeline and Brayden’s vows.

The church itself is visually striking from the outside, with its single steeple standing proudly against the Loxton skyline. Its classic architecture gives it a timeless feel that suits wedding photography beautifully.

Inside, the church presented an interesting challenge for filming. Unlike many churches, there isn’t a central aisle running directly through the middle of the seating. Capturing a perfectly centred ceremony angle therefore required a bit of creativity.

Thankfully, the church features two levels, which allowed me to position cameras in elevated locations for their ceremony video coverage. The upper level provided a fantastic vantage point and helped create balanced footage that would have been difficult to achieve otherwise.

The service itself was relatively concise for a religious ceremony. Family and friends filled the pews as Madeline and Brayden exchanged vows surrounded by those closest to them. There was a wonderful sense of intimacy throughout the ceremony despite the larger church setting.

Following the signing of the marriage certificate, the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife before stepping outside to a shower of bubbles. The bubble exit looked fantastic against the church backdrop and gave everyone an opportunity to celebrate the newly married couple in style.

Glamour Photos

After leaving St Peter’s Church, we headed to a nearby reserve for the glamour photography session.

At this point, the weather continued its ongoing game of uncertainty. Dark clouds drifted overhead throughout the afternoon, threatening rain at almost every moment. Fortunately, the showers largely held off while we were outdoors.

The reserve offered a lovely mix of mature trees, open grassy areas, and natural surroundings that suited the relaxed feel of the wedding perfectly. The soft cloud cover actually worked in our favour photographically, producing flattering light that made portraits look fantastic.

Madeline and Brayden were wonderfully easy to photograph. They were happy simply spending time together while enjoying the excitement of being newly married. Some couples need a little encouragement to relax in front of the camera. These two settled into it naturally.

Their vehicles also became an important part of the session. Cars often hold sentimental value for couples, and incorporating them into wedding photographs helps personalise the gallery. We used the vehicles as backdrops for family photographs while also creating a few portraits that highlighted their importance to the day.

Throughout the session, the threatening skies added a little extra drama to the scenery without ever becoming a problem. Every now and then I found myself glancing upward, wondering if we’d need to make a quick dash for cover. Thankfully the rain waited patiently until later.

Loxton Hotel Wedding Reception

The celebrations continued with a late lunch reception at the Loxton Hotel.

There is something quite enjoyable about daytime receptions. The schedule feels relaxed, guests remain full of energy, and the entire day unfolds at a comfortable pace. By hosting a lunch reception, Madeline and Brayden created a celebration that allowed everyone to enjoy the festivities without finishing late into the evening.

The reception space buzzed with conversation as guests settled in to enjoy good food and great company. Plenty of laughter filled the room as stories were shared and glasses were raised in celebration.

One of my favourite details from the afternoon was a pair of matching wedding bibs that the couple wore while eating. It was a playful little touch that suited their personalities perfectly and had everyone smiling.

The most memorable moment of the reception arrived during gift presentations. Brayden received a collection of family recipes that had been gathered together as a meaningful keepsake.

Watching his reaction was incredibly touching. The gift clearly carried enormous sentimental value, and it wasn’t long before emotions began to show. Those authentic reactions are often the moments that stay with people long after a wedding day has finished. It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most treasured gifts aren’t expensive items but thoughtful connections to family history and tradition.

As the reception wound down, the rain finally arrived. Thankfully by that point everyone was safely indoors, enjoying the festivities without needing to worry about the weather.

Before the day concluded completely, we returned to the River Princess paddle steamer for a final series of photographs.

The evening light was beginning to disappear, but there was still enough time to capture a handful of portraits around the vessel. The paddle steamer looked fantastic as the day softened into dusk, providing a fitting ending to a wedding story that had begun there earlier that morning.

Madeline and Brayden’s St Peter’s Church Wedding in Loxton was filled with genuine moments, beautiful family connections, and plenty of personality. From the Murray River paddle steamer preparations through to emotional reception gifts and sunset portraits, every part of the day reflected who they are as a couple.

For me, it was another reminder of why I love photographing regional South Australian weddings. Great people, stunning locations, and stories worth remembering always seem to come together beautifully.
