This is why you’ll want to document the entire event, as you’ll cherish these memories for the rest of your life. It’s a given that you’ll need to take spectacular photos with your partner, but it’s important that you don’t forget your bridesmaids and bridal party as well. While having high-quality photos is important, you can take this even further by doing some research on some creative shots you like – which is why I assume you’re here now reading this blog! you can also check out places like pinterest or even past weddings at your chosen wedding venue for ideas.
Hopefully this short list of some wedding photo ideas to take with your Bridesmaids will help!
4 Wedding Photo Ideas to Take With Your Bridesmaids
A Selfie
Now, you’ve probably taken thousands of selfies with your best friends until many of them may feel rather forgettable. However, this selfie may be the most special of all the selfies you’ve ever taken. One day, you’ll look back at this photo quite fondly, as it’ll represent a special and unstaged moment that you shared with your bridesmaids on your big day.
Another fun photo idea would be a photo of you showing off the beautiful ring on your finger. This gives you a lot of room for quite a bit of wackiness, as the key here is to be as over-the-top as possible!

Walking Down the Aisle
On to something a little more serious: getting a photo before you walk down the aisle with your bridesmaids lined up next to you will make for a great photo. You can take this concept even further and have your wedding photographer take continuous shots as you walk past each of them as you make your way down the aisle. You’ll only have one shot at this, so be sure to hire the best photographer available. Luckily, we offer high-quality wedding photography that will capture every moment of your wedding as perfect as possible!
bridal party ready to go
While these photo ideas are important, it’s best to let the wedding photographer handle all the work. This is because they have years of experience and knowledge to capture top-quality images. Just remember to relax and live in the moment. The last thing you want to do is to stress over the photographs on your big day as ironically, that’s the exact thing that may cause your wedding photos to not come out as expected!
These wedding photo ideas to take with your bridesmaids that I’ve listed were all things that have come up as a bit of fun at various weddings I have covered – while you can request certain shots, it’s really best to keep things flowing as they usually would!

The Adelaide Botanic Gardens was the setting for Annabelle and Tom’s beautiful wedding which they had travelled from WA for! Their Northern Palm Garden Wedding showcased the closeness of Annabelle and Tom’s family and friends while also having me livestream their ceremony to guests who could not attend due to the COVID pandemic.
Preparation
I began the day with Annabelle and her family being prepared at a house nearby. The atmosphere was laid back and fun filled with the ladies making sure everyone was having some fun with the preparations and dad helping me move their furniture around to get the best angles for shots 🙂

Northern Palm Garden Wedding Ceremony
Annabelle and Tom’s wedding ceremony took place at my favourite of the 9 Botanic Gardens wedding spots available under the large gum tree in what’s called the Northern Palm Garden, which is right by the northern friendship gates with in the northern section of the gardens.
I love this spot due to the huge gum tree that acts as a backdrop to the wedding ceremony where the light of the sun shines through to make for a very nice scene! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t overly sunny for for this Northern Palm Garden wedding ceremony which meant they had to have standby umbrellas for their guests during the ceremony – but thankfully it diddnt rain.
The ceremony itself was a lovely simple affair, full of smiles and family well wishes which was beautiful.

After the family photos which we took around the rear of where their Northen Palm Garden wedding ceremony took place we made the most of the wonderfully overcast day to take some glamour photos around the Botanic Gardens. We began at the bridge located behind the Northern Palm Garden, then head down the elm boulevard, avoiding the other weddings that were taking place on the same day, and ending up at Araucarla Avenue where one of the groom’s men – Nick was married and I shot his wedding!
It’s always fun to see couples that I had photographed in the past at other weddings!

South Australian Museum Wedding Reception
Annabelle and Tom held their wedding reception in the grassy area in the old mounted police barracks behind the South Australian Museum. A large marquee was erected to keep everyone warm and out of any weather – which never eventuated. I always find it fun to show people who diddnt know it was there as I feel as though it’s one of the best kept secrets of Adelaide – despite it being completely public space!
The night was fun, with plenty of heartfelt speeches about Annabelle and Tom’s relationship and their life in WA. It was such a great night to be a part of and I’m super pleased I got to make use of the archway towards the wedding ceremony for a biut of a night shot before I left for the night as it turned out to be one of my favourite shots from the day.

In today’s modern era, a wedding day and a professional photographer are often synonymous. The chances are that you’ve hired one to capture the intimate moments on your special day, which will be immortalised through photos. However, one of the biggest concerns of many couples is how long they can receive the photos from their photographers after the wedding day.
In this article, we’ll share with you what to expect as far as the wedding photos’ turn-around-time is concerned. Read further below to see what you need to do when hiring a wedding photographer and what a reasonable turn around time of photos would be.

Turn around time of Photos From a Wedding Photographer
Typical turnaround time
Keep in mind that receiving wedding photos varies from one wedding photographer to another. In most cases, the turn-around-time ranges between three to eight weeks from the wedding day. If it goes beyond this timeline, there my be other reasons why the turn around time has stretched out a bit. In fact, some highly established wedding photography suppliers may also give you the option to rush your wedding photos, you just need to ask, while those same suppliers may be under the pump from a busy season – a victim of their own success so to speak.
I personally quote around a month turn around time of photos at weddings I cover. This is both slower and faster than other wedding photographers out there – but it’s my experience that provides me with enough time so that I am not rushing their post production, while also not being too long to wait for most people.

Usual factors for any holdup
Of course, you must understand that various factors can affect the turn around time of photos . Below are several notable factors:
The number of photos: How many photos they’re dealing with will impact the turn around time. The more photos there are, the longer the post-production will be. On a typical full-day wedding I personally am taking between 2500-3000 photos, that can easly be streatched to 4000-5000 if there is a second photographer with me.
Production staff: Know that some companies have a certain number of production staff while a few others may only have a one-person photographer doing the actual shoot, editing, and production. Many popular wedding phtoographers even outsource their post-production work in order to same themselves some work and produce their finished albums quicker.
Editing workflow: Keep in mind that photo-editing will always be a part of the overall equation. Photographers are not only taking photos on a day, then uplaoding them all onto your USB to be handed over. I personally say that for each hour I shoot on a wedding day, equates to 3-4 hours with of editing time. And then there are other aspects to running a business that also takes up time – which is time taken away form editing.
Pandemics or other forces: In another life, this would be an odd thing to put on a list like this, but the fact is this past COVID-19 pandemic has both hit and helped the wedding industry in a way that those outside of the industry may not understand. In the first 6-8 months people were cancelling their weddings – but also rebooking them at about the same time. I personally shot as many weddings as I usually do in an entire year in 6 months! This certainly slowed down the turn around time of photos. In the same vein also, sometimes there are some compassionate reasons why the turn around time of photos may be higher than usual – keep in mind your photographer is human.

What to do
If you want to receive your wedding photos on time, here’s what you can do:
When hiring: The most logical course of action is to hire the right wedding photographer. As such, be sure to check their portfolios, ask them about their typical turn around time at the time of year you’re planning on hosting your wedding, and seek testimonals from past clients. That way, you’ll get the assurance that they’ll deliver those photos in a timely manner.
During the actual production: If the turn around time of photos has exceeded what you expected, the next step to take is to be proactive and simply get in touch with your photographer. Make sure to contact them and ask what is causing the delay – there is probably a very good reason why the processing of your photos is taking that little longer, and belive me when we say we are just as excited as you are to see the finished product!

Our turn around time of photos vary due to the time of year and how busy we get, but we are always transparent and clear on how long we can expect the post production to take and always stay in contact if we need a little extra time.
At this point, you should be able to understand a little more about the turn around time of photos from a wedding photographer after the big day. Be sure to consider all the information discussed above and only hire the right wedding photographer and understand their usual turn around time may be faster or longer than usual due to a vast number of reasons. Ultimately, rushing your photographer is normally not a great idea, as those wedding photos are to cherished forever!

Your wedding pictures are one of the most important things to think about when planning your big day. Although hiring a skilled and experienced wedding photographer is crucial, it is also essential that you know what you want for your pictures. Hiring the right photographer coupled with knowing the outcome you want will help set the stage for a successful wedding photoshoot.
No matter how many selfies they’ve taken, many couples have little experience with professional photography and don’t know exactly what type of photos they want. Fortunately, wedding photographers are here to help.
One classic that never goes wrong is Golden Hour photography. This style entails taking photos during the hour that comes immediately before the sun sets. The golden hue and softness of the sun’s rays these last moments of the day will produce radiant and striking images that can’t be beat.
Wedding Golden Hour Photography – How to Get It Right
Here’s what you should know about having wedding golden hour photography done right:
1 – Plan Ahead
It’s smart to check the weather forecast and make sure your location will be available before settling on a schedule for the shoot. Golden hour photography only gives you so much time, after all. You’ll get best results on a clear day when your location isn’t too populated. In case the weather forecasts are wrong (which they sometimes are), talk to your photographer about a backup plan, just in case.
The best golden hour photography are usually taken on a day with a bit of cloud on the day – so consider the weather on the day and guage whether or not it’d be worth heading to the spot you scouted earlier or use your back up ideas.

2 – Set Aside enough time for the Shoot—and Start Early!
One of the reasons golden hour photography is so tough to get right is that you’ll have a very narrow time frame to get the perfect pictures. The sun waits for no one!
No matter how busy you may be during the wedding planning process, it is important to set aside at least one to two hours for the wedding photo shoot—and that time should start well before golden hour. This ensures that your photographer can strategically plan poses, locations, and more to make the most of golden hour.
Planning ahead will ensure that you will have plenty of beautiful shots for your wedding album! Keep in mind that some of the most popular spots for wedding phtoography – like this list of wedding photo locations in Darwin can be busy – particularly for golden hour photography! So definitely plan a backup spot.

3 – Clear Your Mind and Carpe Diem
You will not be able to get good wedding photos if you let the stress of planning your wedding cloud your mind. On the day of your wedding shoot, make it a point to go into it with a clear and relaxed mind. This will help you get the best wedding photos and enjoy the process.

4 – Give Your Ideas to Your Photographer
Your photographer will often help direct you and your partner throughout the shoot, but you’ll have to do your part. After all, the photos will be yours to keep! If you have a particular style or pose you want to try, communicate all this to your photographer early on. They’ll then be able to plan based on your vision. A mood board can be helpful, too! Be sure to visit their portfolio well ahead of time and point out some photos you particularly enjoy so your photographer has a good idea of what you want to achieve.
This said, some ideas given to your photographer would be helpful, but try not to encroach too much on your photographer’s artistic freedom to to what they do best!

5 – Enjoy It and have fun!
Keep in mind that your feelings will come through to your photos. Remember that this is your wedding day! This occasion is supposed to be one of the happiest and most momentous moments of your life. Enjoy every moment of the planning and ceremony itself, your wedding photoshoot included.
Your wedding photos are meant to immortalize your wedding. Making sure that you hire the services of a good wedding photographer will help you cherish the moments of your wedding and all the effort that went into planning it even if years or decades have passed.

5 Easy Ways to Find An Excellent Photographer for Your Wedding
To help you sort things out, below are five easy ways you can hire an excellent photographer for your wedding.
Decide On Your Style
In the vast and varied industry of professional wedding photography, how would you choose the best one for you? The simple answer is to screen them. One of the most important considerations in choosing your photographer is when you have a distinct photography style in mind. From here, your choices would be trimmed down by many, as you only pick those photographers that mesh with the style that you prefer.
One thing that will help you decide on your style is to gather a collection of wedding photos from the internet by browsing photographer portfolios of weddings they had shot in the past. Choose the ones that appeal to you. Through this gallery of inspiring images, try to analyze the common things among those photos that made you like them.

For instance, they can be a classic style of photography, a formal pose, or maybe a very elegant feel. Discuss with your partner which styles you will feel comfortable with on the day, something that suits your personalities and meets all your aesthetic preferences.
I personally get comments on my own photos where I like to bring the mentality behind my award winning landscape photography into my wedding photography thereby capturing not only the couple, but also the venue which they had spent hours agonising over beforehand!
You don’t even have to limit yourselves to just one style! Many photographers out there are flexible enough to use different techniques for a wedding shoot and creatively put them together in one album. Your wedding photos will be a collaborative effort between you and your photography team, so make sure to emphasize the exact aesthetic that you want to achieve!

Do Your Research on Potential Photographers
After deciding on a specific wedding photography style, you now have only a few photographers to choose from. Take a close look at each of them by browsing their social media pages and official websites. Look through their wedding albums to have an idea of how they capture moments, especially those that are really special to you.
Of course, the photos on full display are their best shots and poses. How about what their previous clients say about them? You should also consider reading customer reviews from reliable sources like ABIA to understand the kind of service they’ve given other couples and events. There may be red flags that you can spot on these reviews that will help you decide easily.
Based on these reviews, what do you think of them now? Are they responsive to queries? Do they deliver as promised? Do you like the way they interact with their clients? Knowing these things, you get a better picture of what services you can expect during your shoot.
Another important factor you should take into account are industry accreditations. Being a photographer does not simply mean someone who owns a camera – however, unfortunately a lot of people seems to think so! There are organisations which can help you find an excellent photographer for your wedding like the AIPP.

Take a Close Look at Previous Work
As mentioned in the second tip, you are free to look at potential photographers’ galleries on their respective websites. However, you should not base your decision solely on their featured albums. What you should do is to ask these photographers for at least a full wedding from one of their previous clients. This will give you a clear picture of what kind of product they deliver. If you see the same quality of images as their online galleries, it means they are genuinely excellent photographers!
A smart idea is to ask your prospective photographers for photos similar to the wedding theme or venue you will have. For instance, you are having a garden wedding. Ask for a wedding album from a previous client that also had a garden themed event. This way, you know exactly what to expect to see for your after-the-wedding photos.
Aside from that, you should also look at each of their photos with a critical eye and be keen on details. Look at the couple’s photos. Does it portray intimacy between them? How about the lighting? Are they too flashy or dim? Take the time to look through the pictures of the couple’s guests, too. Do the photos portray festivity with the subjects projecting emotions—feeling happy, touched, sad, and joyful? These many factors will ensure you will make a thoroughly informed decision in the end.
Assess Their Personalities and See If They Match Yours
It is also essential to work with people you like. Having a good relationship with your photographer will help bring out the best in you during your many shoots. The feeling that you are comfortable posing in front of them and doing as the photographer says makes the job easier and produces better results.
You need to know if your photographer is someone you can comfortably work with. You can easily sense a certain rapport during your conversations. When you give suggestions, how do they respond? Does your photographer look excited and happy when you describe your vision of the photos? Do they insist on what they want or respect what you prefer? Are they always on time?
Look for a photographer with a good demeanour and excellent social graces, someone assertive and who gives instructions respectfully. The photography team should be the friendliest you’ve ever met as you will be smiling all day long during the shoot. Can you still smile when you feel annoyed or embarrassed by your photographer? Of course, you wouldn’t want to work with someone you don’t like.
Weigh Pros and Cons and Choose the Best Offer
This is the time when you put all considerations together and weigh each critical element—proximity, price, package inclusions, and value for money. For instance, you may be confused between choosing a photographer near your area for offering a good set of inclusions in the package and the one that provides the same but at a lower price. You also need to know if photography teams in different territories will ask for additional payments on top of their standard rate in the form of an out-of-town fee.
You may also get offers that go the extra mile by including special effects, additional coverage, or even discounted engagement shoots. Compare their rates and determine which one falls within your budget range. While investing in wedding photography is a good move, spending too much on it is not very practical. You’re better off spending your money on a honeymoon trip or furniture upgrades when you move into your house together.
Choose a package that will cover your wedding day, starting from your preparation up to the last minute of your reception program. Consider the number of good photographers in the team. Is there just one? Some offer two or more excellent photographers to cover your event. Of course, having two is the better option as you get two creative minds and twice the coverage.

When you choose the best photography team, you are assured of quality wedding albums that capture the best moments of your wedding day and memorabilia that will last for ages. It’s essential to do your due diligence and find a team you can trust and work well with – so hopefully this short list of things to think about to find an excellent photographer for your wedding will help!
