5 Important Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer

Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer

Your wedding day is one of the most special moments of your life. This is why you will want every beautiful moment captured so that you can look back at it in the future. For that to happen, you will need a professional photographer that will take the best photos. Afterall, your photography is the most future proof way to remember your day.

However, with so many wedding photographers in today’s market, it can be overwhelming to choose one. An effective way is to ask the right questions when interviewing any prospects for your wedding.

5 Important Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer

If you want to hire the best photographer for your wedding, here are some important questions to ask your wedding photographer.

What Are Your Primary And Backup Plans?

A good photographer will always have backup plans if the primary one goes wrong. I like to say that being a photographer means your second name is ‘redundancy’. As an example I always have two cameras with me, backup lenses, a vast array of batteries, dual memory cards and backups when I get home, etc.

Also, keep in mind that there are many things that could go wrong on your big day that no one can predict—the weather may not cooperate, or an important person may fall ill. Because of this, you must hire a photographer who can handle all these last-minute issues and still deliver the best results, regardless if these situations happen on their end or your end.

The ability to do this simply comes from experience. you want someone who can work on the fly and still function despite what is thrown at them.

Can I See Finished Albums?

Browsing through the photographer’s finished wedding albums, or sets of photos will give you an idea of their photography techniques to help you identify if the photographer’s style will match yours. Choosing a photographer based soley on their intagram or website portfolios is a bit naive due simply that the images put up there are purposefully the best images that photographer has ever taken – it’s best to see the entire product they have supplied their clients in the past to get a better idea of their overall quality.

Additionally, these completed albums will help you grasp how they capture wedding details. Remember that there must be consistency throughout and browsing through the albums should make you feel like you are reliving the wedding.

I tend to like to show potential new wedding couples a similar wedding they are planning and hopefully while walking them through that wedding, they can gain ideas fro their own, while also guageing you as their potential wedding photographer.

What Do You Love About Weddings?

Although this question may be odd for some, it’s still a vital question to ask. By asking this, you will be able to know if the wedding photographer is a good match for you. Do they match your excitement? Are they passionate about what they do? Moreover, this will also help you understand why they entered the wedding photography industry in the first place. When you see the passion, you can look forward to great wedding photos!

How Much Do You Charge For An Additional Hour?

When you get a wedding photographer, they will usually offer their services for a fixed amount of time. However, on the big day, you may want the photographer to extend more than the agreed period, and this will surely incur extra charges. When you know how much it will cost you, you will be able to plan your day well and know when you will need your photographer the most.

I tend to prefer to offer ‘full day’ wedding coverage so that I’m not constantly watching the clock and putting undue stress on the couple, but I do also offer hourly based wedding packages for those who prefer the option.

How Much For A Second Photographer?

If you’re considering getting a second photographer, you can ask your photographer if they can provide you with another one. Having two photographers on your wedding day is a great idea, especially if it’s a large wedding. This will help ensure that every angle or and every must-have shot is covered and no moment will be missed!

At this point, you now realise that asking the right questions when interviewing several photographers for your wedding is important. These questions go beyond their portfolio, and they will help you get to know more about their styles, services, and prices. It’s crucial you get along with your photographer, and you match their style because you will be working with them for a good part of your wedding day. Hopefully these questions to ask your wedding photographer will help you select the best suited photographer for your wedding.

Tips for Capturing Your Newborn’s First Moments Photography

Capturing Your Newborn’s First Moments Photography Session

For parents, having a baby is exciting. The moment you welcome your child into the world, you’re going to do whatever it takes to make them experience only the good things that life has to offer. You will want to take care of them forever and ensure they grow up in a safe and loving environment.

A newborn baby is fragile, precious, and hard to take your eyes off of—but time goes by fast for them. Before you know it, your newborn has turned a year older. As great an achievement as that might be, it can seem like a sad and fleeting moment for you, which is why you’ll want to keep that memory of your newborn for just a little longer. If you want to capture your newborn’s first moments perfectly, you should consider hiring a professional newborn photographer to do so.

A photographer who’s willing to document your newborn baby’s first moments requires dedication, patience, and passion for babies. Keep reading below to find out the essential tips you need to remember with newborn photography.

Tips for Capturing Your Newborn’s First Moments

Follow the Photographer’s Instructions

If you want the photoshoot to be successful, it’s crucial to follow all the instructions of your photographer. It’s not just about getting the perfect poses from your baby, but it’s also about making sure they’re comfortable and free from any pressure – also for safety reasons. You should already expect your newborn to cry, or not exactly be helpful while taking shots — but for things to continue as planned, it would help if you listened to what the photographer says.

Depending on your agreement and the style of shoot you’re aiming for, the shoot can be done in a studio, in your home or on locations like a park. Whichever you prefer, you can still expect to receive excellent results given that you listen to them; after all, newborn photographers have the skills and experience to produce beautiful photos.

Know Your Baby’s Sleeping Schedule

Newborn babies tend to sleep a lot, and more often than not, they won’t have a fixed sleeping schedule. Despite that, it’s vital to keep track of the time they’re awake for several hours and when they’re checked out for the rest of the day.

Before the shoot, it would help if you booked a session when you know your newborn will be sleepy for at least two hours, which can give the photographer enough time to take the photos. having your little one asleep actually helps set up a cute shot without too much fuss.

On the other hand, if you want photos of your newborn’s beautiful eyes, make sure you have plenty of distractions and ample food for when they inevitably become cranky! That’s because a newborn baby typically isn’t too big of a fan of being away from their Mummy or daddy for too long, and being on a posing beanbag for too long is a new experience they may not find comfortable.

Learn to Read Your Newborn’s Body Language

After two weeks, newborn babies tend to become uncomfortable due to the different experiences they start to feel in their bodies. That’s why if you’re hiring a newborn photographer, it’s essential to figure out your baby’s body language!

While each baby offers a unique personality, there are still techniques known to work on almost all babies to get them to calm down and keep them from crying. Take note that newborns shouldn’t be forced to pose right away. Instead, make it your mission to keep them comfortable during the entire photoshoot—the poses will then come naturally!

You also have to be prepared for the worst, including the relentless crying of newborns. In fact, bawling babies can be part of the art of newborn photography, especially if captured well. But if you prefer favourable outcomes, you have to do everything it takes to prevent them from becoming upset.

Capturing your baby’s first few weeks with the help of a newborn photographer is a one-of-a-kind experience because you get to witness your baby in a different setting and you’ll have memories in photographic form for ever more. As long as you make sure to follow what the photographer says, be familiar with your newborn’s schedule, and learn how to read their body language, you can expect the first moments photography of your newborn’s first moments to become a success!

What You Need to Know About Bridal Portraits

Bridal Portraits

Aside from preparing for the big day itself, it’s natural for you to sort out even the smallest details for your wedding photography. After all, the resulting photos will be your reminder of that beautiful day that you finally said, ‘I do.’

On that note, you should know that aside from your themed attires, you can also put on your wedding dress for photo sessions that are specifically called a bridal portrait, this session focuses solely on you in your white gown.

This is usually held before your wedding day – but can also be after. Bridal Portraits allows you take photos in your dream dress in a perfectly controlled environment—something that can be hard to do during the big day. It’s also used as a dry-run for the ceremony. It can be used as an opportunity to run through the big day, identify potential issues, and give you a feeling of reassurance as you approach the date.

What You Need to Know About Bridal Portraits

To help you prepare for your bridal portraits further, here are some points worth keeping in mind:

Reasons to Take Bridal Portraits

Some believe that bridal portraits are simply add-ons that can be omitted. In reality, having this photography session can benefit you and your wedding preparations in many ways.

Here are just two of the many reasons why having bridal portraits is worth your time and effort:

  • They are your reliable backups in case your wedding-day bridal portraits don’t turn out the way you want them to. Sometimes, even the most well-planned weddings can get out of hand; as a result, relying on your same-day photos may only stress you out.
  • Having a separate bridal portrait gives you a chance to get creative and execute your ideas. Unfortunately, wedding-day bridal portrait sessions do not give you the same flexibility as often the space you get ready in isn’t exactly ‘magazine ready’

Identifying the Best Place to Take Bridal Portraits

One of the biggest advantages of having a separate bridal portrait session is that you have the liberty to choose your location. Whether you want to have them at a beautiful spot, at a place that reflects your personality, or at the venue itself, all you have to do is coordinate with your wedding photographer.

In the end, know that the choice is up to you! Follow your heart and what you truly want—after all, this opportunity will only come once in your life!

Identifying the Best Time to Take Bridal Portraits

You must also consider when to hold the bridal portrait session to achieve the visuals and feel that you want.

If you’re looking to capture that golden-hour light in your photos, scheduling your photoshoot early in the morning or late afternoon will be the best strategy. With that said, you should also remember that sunrise and sunset have distinct characteristics.

To achieve soft light, you’ll want to go with an early morning shoot; for a deeper and richer colour, having your shoot done just before sunset would be the best

Finally, it’s a smart idea to schedule your photo session one to two months before the wedding. By this time, you may already have your wedding-day accessories, and your hair and makeup trials may also be underway. Coordinating your schedule to put these activities together will allow you to get more things done while saving time, and money!

Your wedding day is going to be one of the busiest days of your life. Considering this, relying on same-day bridal portraits alone may leave you with photos arent exactly what you had in your mind’s eye. It is for this reason that bridal portrait sessions can be worth having. These sessions give you a chance to execute your photoshoot ideas and take great photos without the hustle and bustle of your big day. Ultimately, it lets you capture amazing images that you will surely treasure forever.

Hate Being Photographed? How to Nail Your Wedding Photos

Hate Being Photographed?

Wedding photographs are an essential part of commemorating your big day, but the unfortunate truth is, not all brides and grooms are comfortable with being in front of the camera. Whether you’re camera-shy, don’t know how to pose, or believe that the camera just doesn’t love you, it can turn a lovely day for taking wedding photos into a frustrating experience.

I like to say that if I had a dollar every time a couple stated that they hate being photographed then I’d be on a yacht somewhere.

Fortunately, there are ways to get around these challenges during wedding photography sessions. Here are some top tips for nailing your wedding photoshoot—even if you hate being photographed!

Here’s How to Nail Your Wedding Photos

  • Get the Right Photographer to Do the Job

Most of what makes a great wedding photo is hiring the right wedding photographer. Professionals will not only know how to take great pictures, but they’ll also know how to make you feel comfortable. They’ll capture shots that, despite your apprehensions or perceived awkwardness, will still look fantastic.

And Trust me, so many people say they hate being photographed!

There are some things you can do when looking for a wedding photographer who can make things a bit easier as your wedding day approaches. If you can, meeting with them to discuss their approach to photography and gauging their personality are both extremely important. A diverse portfolio is also a good indicator that photographers know how to adjust and produce good photos no matter the circumstances, especially with making “ordinary” people look great.

The right photographer for you will also honour your requests and put more focus on the kind of portraits that you and your future spouse want.

  • Practice With an Engagement Shoot

They say practice makes perfect, and this applies to getting your photos taken for your wedding. Having some sort of dry run will allow you to familiarise yourself with the poses you’re most comfortable with—so why not go for an engagement shoot? Not only will you have a lovely extra set of photos to look back on, but you’ll also warm up to the camera before the wedding day.

  • Candid Photos are Your Best Friend

Posed portraits may feel a little too unnatural and very uncomfortable, especially if you know that there’s a lens pointed at you. Do what feels most comfortable during your wedding day. Good wedding photography is all about adjusting to the clients’ most flattering angles, whether posed or not.

Candid photos are also often more beautiful than posed shots. They show the behind the scenes moments of the wedding day as well as experiences shared between the two of you and your loved ones. Many couples find that their favourite photos to look back on are candid shots that show stolen moments of their special day!

  • Focus on Each Other

Couples that focus on the camera get a little too self-conscious and don’t act like themselves. The right photographer may ask you to focus on each other and just interact like you normally would! Sometimes this could lead to a nervous outburst of laughter—which is a perfect candid shot. This can also make couples generally feel more at ease and ready to pose with one another when the photographer asks again.

  • Decide How You Want to Involve the Crowd

Wedding photos don’t have to be for the bride and groom exclusively. Sometimes the presence of family and close friends will help you come up with creative ideas for the shoot. You can also take special shots with your best friend, your parents, and even your whole family.

On the other hand, you might also want to veer away from the crowd and enjoy the intimate moment shared with your fiancé. Sometimes family and friends can be distractions that will change the mood of the photoshoot, so keeping them out of it, for the time being, could be for the best if you want top-quality shots just the way you hoped for.

It’s normal to feel slightly awkward or fearful of the camera, especially for a day as important as your wedding. Those of you who hate being photographed will likely feel a bit of pressure about looking your best and having the right poses to make the investment worth it. But by being your natural self with your soon-to-be spouse, your wedding photographer can get just the right shots and produce photos that you’ve always dreamed of for your special day.

For wedding photos, going natural is truly best! Here at Sven Studios, we help you create memories in a fun and relaxed way to produce photographs that you’ll be proud to look back on. 3 Benefits of Hiring a Photo Booth For Your Wedding

Benefits of Hiring a Photo Booth For Your Wedding

Your wedding is one of the most significant celebrations of your life. As you embark a new journey, it only makes sense to document every single precious moment of this big day through wedding photos.

Aside from hiring a wedding photographer to capture the important parts of your wedding, another way of preserving unforgettable memories through high-quality images is by hiring a photo booth. You may consider not having a photo booth at all in your venue to save money, but trust us when we say that the benefits of hiring a photo booth are worth every penny. Here are some of its key advantages:

3 Benefits of Hiring a Photo Booth

  • It offers entertainment to your guests

Common wedding entertainment options include putting on the perfect music that suits the ambience, sharing exciting song and dance performances, and showing some of your wedding videos to your friends and family. But over time, your guests may find themselves glancing at their watches every once in a while.

If you’re looking for a unique way to keep your guests entertained and engaged, add a photo booth at your reception. You won’t have to worry whether they are enjoying the party or not, and they can have fun by themselves by striking their favourite poses and using various props.

A photo booth is also enjoyable for all ages. It is one of the best ways to get your senior guests out of their seats and have them interact with the younger crowd. Plus, it gives them the opportunity to take more photos with their family.

Some people also prefer having their photo taken by an inanimate object such as a photo booth as many can be camera shy, and regardless on how awesome your wedding photographer is, they would just prefer not to have their photo taken!

Using the photobooth
Using the photobooth
  • It serves as the perfect keepsake

A photo booth prints photos right after they were taken, which means your guests can get instant souvenirs from your wedding day. These photos can serve as the perfect keepsake that will remind the people dearest to your heart of the heartwarming moments they had during the most special day of your life. They can also stick them in their fridge and keep them there for years to come. You can also download them and print multiple copies of your favourite photos.

The printed strips can also function as a personalised addition to your guest book, where your guests will stick one of the strips they recieve onto a page along with a heartfelt note.

  • It adds to the overall style of your venue

Some photo booths have stylish setups that can add to the overall look and feel of your venue. This is what you get when you seek our photo booth solution. Aside from offering wedding photography, we provide a photo booth for hire with a one-of-a-kind open-air design.

Unlike traditional booths where your guests have to line up to get inside a stuffy box, ours has a unique appearance that is much more entertaining and inclusive. It allows for your entire party to see what’s going on in front of the camera and join in on the fun. In addition, it has a luxurious red or white curtain as a backdrop and a large selection of funny props and costumes.

With all the benefits of hiring a photo booth, you can reap so many rewards, making it definitely worth your money.
