6 Important Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

There’s nothing more perfect than seeing and holding your baby the first time. That moment is unbeatable, and it instantly fills your heart with such ecstatic emotion. Most parents say that babies grow insanely fast and that you should cherish those newborn moments so you better take their advice and capture every detail while they’re still a tiny little bundle!

Before you know it, they’ll soon become toddlers and teenagers that won’t fit in your arms anymore. Their tiny toes, wrinkly skin, heart-melting yawns and tiny little bodies will soon be just a memory. For this reason, you should make those memories vivid, and that’s where a photoshoot becomes essential for your newborn baby.

When you need a wedding photographer company, don't settle for less, call SvenStudios

Preparing for a Newborn Photography Session

Now, before heading out to the studio and meeting your photographer, you should ensure that you and your baby are ready. You wouldn’t want to go there without knowing the right things to prepare. This big occasion will be memorable for your whole family, so it involves proper planning and preparation, so heres a simple little list of things to do before your newborn photoshoot.

6 Important Things to Do Before Your Newborn Photoshoot

Here are essential things to do before your newborn photoshoot to help you prepare and ensure a smooth, successful session, capturing the perfect moments with your little one.

  1. Schedule the Photo Session in Advance

Keep in mind that most photographers prefer to do newborn photography sessions when infants are between 5 and 14 days. During this time the little one is easier to move about with getting too upset about new surroundings, and would be easier to time a period while they are asleep.

Even if your baby is not born yet, you should already schedule their photoshoot. This appointment will give you and the photographer ample time to arrange everything you need before the shoot. In addition, you wouldn’t be worried that there will be no photographer available during the first 14 days of your baby because you have already booked ahead of time.

It is advisable to source out or advise your preferred photographer while you’re in your second trimester. Let them know of your due date so they can block off their calendar for your baby’s photography session.

  1. Keep Your Baby Awake Before the Photoshoot Starts

While it may be good to capture photos of your baby while they are awake, you may have a hard time if their mood is not so great. A great tip to make the photo session as calm and easy as possible is to keep your baby awake before it starts. This way, they’ll doze off during the shoot. It’s better for a photographer to capture your baby’s peaceful, adorable state instead of their enraged, red-faced, just-finished-crying face. When they’re asleep during the shoot, you’ll have photos of a peaceful and charming baby in cute poses.

  1. Ensure Your Baby Is Full 20-30 Minutes Before the Session

Again, a baby crying out loud during the shoot is a bad idea because the pictures may not turn out the way you want. Keeping them full before the shoot will help avoid this kind of situation, and it will also help them sleep while the photoshoot is happening. You must feed and burp them right before the session so they’ll cry less, sleep better and create a calm studio environment for everyone involved during the shoot. Feeding your baby 20-30 minutes before will also help them last a two-hour shoot.

  1. Dress Them in Easy-to-Take-Off Clothes

Most photographers prefer a naked baby while doing the photoshoot to allow them to get every angle of their tiny body. As a parent, you must choose easy-to-take-off clothes before you head to the venue so it’ll be less of a hassle when it’s time for their session. Easy-to-take-off garments will also help to not disrupt their sleep cycle and avoid crying. Aside from that, you can change your baby’s nappy into a loose type, so when the photographer undresses them, they won’t have diaper marks on their skin in the picture.

  1. Advise Your Photographer Regarding the Location of the Shoot

Usually, photoshoots are held in a studio, but some photographers conduct newborn photography sessions wherever you feel most comfortable as a parent. Perhaps, you want to hold the shoot in your own home for convenience or have a preferred location out of town.

Whatever the case, you must tell your photographer in advance so they can prepare proper lighting and setup according to the location. When you decide to choose an outdoor location, elements will be less controlled since the weather can be unpredictable. There are only specific times when they can utilise natural light. By informing them of your location preferences ahead of time, they can give you high-quality rendered photos of your baby.

  1. Trust the Photographer

It’s normal to feel nervous and anxious while your baby is doing the photo session. However, you don’t need to worry because a professional photographer knows what they’re doing and is good at doing their job. Let them take care of your baby while on the shoot, and trust them to handle your baby well during the session.

If you cannot ease your mind, it’s better to reach out to the photographer and let them know your worries. If you still feel uncomfortable at any point during the shoot, let your photographer know right away because, after all, it’s still your baby, and it’s crucial that you both feel comfortable.

When it comes to photoshoots for newborn babies, timing is everything, and safety always comes first. In order to have a successful session, ensure your baby is safe and comfortable so you’ll also feel relaxed during the shoot. In addition, having incredible newborn photographs is all about having the best photographer behind the lens. Your photographer will significantly influence how you can make the memories of your newborn fresh in your mind even after a long time. They will be the ones to tell the story of your precious newborn through their photography skills.

At Sven Studios, we ensure that our years of experience translate in the way we do each baby photoshoot. We offer a professional newborn photography service that allows parents to remember their baby’s infant stage through perfectly captured images. hopefully this little list of things to do before your newborn photoshoot was helpful, and we invite you to schedule your newborn photo sessions in Adelaide with us today!

5 Iconic Wedding Photographs Shot list

Weddings are one of the happiest moments in a couple’s life, and it’s a milestone worth remembering for years to come; that’s why having a professional photographer capture the intimate affair is essential.

But even the most picture-perfect shot won’t make an impact if it doesn’t speak to the personality and expectations of the bride and groom. It’s always important to let your photographer do their thing with heir own artistic eye to capture what they think are the best weddings shots – but it’s also helpful to communicate any ‘must have’ shots you expect from your day.

List of 5 Iconic Wedding Photographs

With that in mind, some of the essential shot-list every wedding album should have includes the following snippets:

  1. Getting Ready for the Big Moment – Pre-Wedding Shoots (Candid Moments and Mementos)

Every wedding album needs a behind the scenes shot of the bride and groom getting ready for the biggest day of their lives. This is arguably the only time couples can feel glamorous while getting made and dressed up – it’s also the last morning that you will be referred to as ‘unmarried’ so it’s important to capture these moments.

Some examples of the iconic wedding photographs your wedding photographer would be looking to take would be the make-up process, a closer peek at the wedding dress / suit details, the couple’s accessories or mementos (like the rings, shoes, jewellery, bouquet, and even the wedding invitation), and candid moments in between glamming up.

  1. Groom and Bridal Party – Go Traditional or Crazy with Friends and Family Before the Wedding

Weddings not only celebrate the love shared between the couple but also between family and friends! It’s a special day where everyone can reconnect and have fun together, so it only fits to capture it with your gals and guys. Couples can go with traditional shots and go crazy the next — the mood and personality of your shots are yours to make!

The fun thing that I like to do when taking group shots like this is that I like to do the ‘crazy’ shots before anything else – that way the smiles of doing something crazy are still on your faces once I quickly call for a more ‘formal’ shot.

The fact of the matter is that nothing about being prepared in front of a camera is natural, so you really need to have a bit of fun with it all in order to capture anything that looks ‘natural’.

  1. The Iconic First Meeting Between the Bride and Groom – Walking Down the Aisle

Every moment before then is leading to this one where the blushing bride makes her entrance and walks gracefully down the aisle with her parents tearfully by her side. At the opposite end is the proud and emotionally-packed groom, waiting for his bride-to-be to meet him. This is a critical, heartfelt moment the photographer shouldn’t miss!

More and more common are what’s known as the first look photoshoot, where this emotional moment is actually done in private – or sometimes surrounded by the bridal party before the ceremony begins. The benefit of this is that you get to remove any fears of being overly emotional in front of family and friends at the ceremony – and it can even help out with potential changes in scheduling due to unforeseen circumstances – like late cars, etc.

  1. Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance

Another emotionally charged and profound moment is during the dance between the father and daughter or mother and son, both of which shows the genuine connection passing between generations. Next to the first meeting between the bride and groom, this scene will undoubtedly put anyone to tears.

  1. Shared Happiness at the Reception

After the vows and the sombre moments, it’s time to capture the couple and their loved ones in their best elements — having fun and dancing to their favourite tunes. This should be colourful and let everyone’s personality shine through!

Let your photographer capture your iconic wedding photographs

Beyond an eye for finding beauty in odd angles, the photographer you hire should also be experienced in wedding photography. After all, you need to see shots that best represent the special moments of your wedding — from iconic scenes to never-before-seen images that are unique to your day; the right photographer ensures you won’t miss a single thing.

As I stated before however – please make sure your photographer is aware of any ‘must have’ shots you’ve already pictured in your mind in having! Unfortunately we are not mind readers and if we miss something, just know that not everything can be captured on a day!

Is a ‘Same Day Edit’ Right for Your Wedding?

Your wedding is undeniably one of the most significant milestones in your life. You want to ensure that you capture all the memories that day so you can look back at them and remember the best moments, this often means having both a wedding photographer and videographer to capture your day using both the art of photography and videography.

Many wedding trends are popping up, and one of the most lesser known is having a same-day-edit wedding video. A same day edit or ‘SDE’ is a video that a wedding videographer produces on the same day of your wedding. It’s a same day edit video because the video is shown to guests during the reception to help relive some of the moments of the past few hours. It usually only goes for a minute or two, but it can be nice to showcase!

Why Is It Important to Hire the Right Professional Wedding Videographer?

Ideally, you’ll want to work with an experienced team to do this. This is because they’re not only tasked to take videos of various moments of your wedding, but they also have to work fast to produce a compelling and impressive edit of the video to show to guests.

A great tip is to have a wedding photographer work hand in hand with the videographer to capture the moment in a different perspective and through still photographs. This is another feature you can also add to your same-day-edit wedding video as a bit of a montage of both photography and videography.

Why Do I Need a ‘Same Day Edit’ Wedding Video?

  1. Final Wedding Video Preview

One of the reasons having a same-day-edit video is ideal is because you’ll have a sneak peek of what your final wedding video would look like. You’ll usually be waiting weeks or even months for the final video, but at least with an same day edit, you’ll get to relive short moments of your wedding, surrounded by family and friends on your actual wedding day!

I usually put together a 1 minute long social media edit for every wedding I cover the day after, the great thing about having a same day edit done being able to view it that night!

  1. Help Guests Relive the Moments

If you had an intimate wedding ceremony, chances are, not all of your guests have witnessed this momentous event. With that being said, a same-day-edit video is a fantastic way for guests to watch the ceremony and feel part of the whole experience.

  1. Watch Heightened Moments

The great thing about same-day-edit wedding videos is that, if done well, it heightens special moments during the event. These moments include the anticipation of your partner as they walk down the aisle, your cute flower girls and ring bearers making their way down the altar, the exchange of vows, and of course, the first kiss.

The truth is, we all can’t see these moments, and there will be some that we might’ve missed. Thankfully, wedding videographers will help you appreciate and see these tender moments and appreciate even the smallest joys.

  1. Share It Everywhere

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many guests may not be able to make it to the wedding. Thankfully, same-day-edits can make every guest, even if they’re not in the venue, feel like they’re part of the ceremony since you can easily share your same day edit footage online.

The great thing about this is you can instantly share your most precious moments and have them immortalized online, making it a convenient way to track the memories of your wedding day.

Partner this up with amazing pictures from your wedding photographer, and you’ll instantly have an immersive online album of your wedding.

Having a Same Day Edit Can Elevate Your Wedding Experience

Having a same-day-edit wedding video allows you to see and relive all the special moments of your big day while still celebrating your big day! This won’t only make you and your partner happy, but it will also make your loved ones and guests feel the same joy you felt in those very moments.

If you want to elevate your wedding experience, work with a credible wedding photographer and videographer and collaborate to produce an amazing same-day edit of your wedding that you’ll cherish in your heart forever.

4 Best Wedding Photo Ideas to Take With Your Bridesmaids

On your wedding day, not only will you be with your partner but also all the people you love and care about. This is why you’ll want to document the entire event, as you’ll cherish these memories for the rest of your life. It’s a given that you’ll need to take spectacular photos with your partner, but it’s important that you don’t forget your bridesmaids and bridal party as well. Remember that your bridesmaids represent the most important women/people in your life, so you’ll definitely want to do something special with them!

Getting a professional wedding photographer will go a long way when it comes to commemorating your wedding. However, no one says that things have to stop there. While having high-quality photos is important, you can take this even further by doing some research on some creative shots you like – which is why I assume you’re here now reading this blog! you can also check out places like pinterest or even past weddings at your chosen wedding venue for ideas.

Hopefully this short list of some wedding photo ideas to take with your Bridesmaids will help!

4 Wedding Photo Ideas to Take With Your Bridesmaids

A Selfie

Now, you’ve probably taken thousands of selfies with your best friends until many of them may feel rather forgettable. However, this selfie may be the most special of all the selfies you’ve ever taken. One day, you’ll look back at this photo quite fondly, as it’ll represent a special and unstaged moment that you shared with your bridesmaids on your big day.

A Helping Hand

While selfies are great, remember that you hired the best wedding photographer you could find for a reason! Be sure to get a photo of your bridesmaids helping you get ready for the wedding. Be creative with this. For example, it could be a photo of them helping you with your hair and your makeup. The key to this photo is staging things in a way that makes everything feel alive and active!

A Ring Pic

Another fun photo idea would be a photo of you showing off the beautiful ring on your finger. This gives you a lot of room for quite a bit of wackiness, as the key here is to be as over-the-top as possible!

Engagement ring!

Walking Down the Aisle

On to something a little more serious: getting a photo before you walk down the aisle with your bridesmaids lined up next to you will make for a great photo. You can take this concept even further and have your wedding photographer take continuous shots as you walk past each of them as you make your way down the aisle. You’ll only have one shot at this, so be sure to hire the best photographer available. Luckily, we offer high-quality wedding photography that will capture every moment of your wedding as perfect as possible!

While these photo ideas are important, it’s best to let the wedding photographer handle all the work. This is because they have years of experience and knowledge to capture top-quality images. Just remember to relax and live in the moment. The last thing you want to do is to stress over the photographs on your big day as ironically, that’s the exact thing that may cause your wedding photos to not come out as expected!

These wedding photo ideas to take with your bridesmaids that I’ve listed were all things that have come up as a bit of fun at various weddings I have covered – while you can request certain shots, it’s really best to keep things flowing as they usually would!

We here at Sven Studios are here to help you commemorate your wedding day. Our team of experienced photographers will capture the best and most beautiful photos during your big day. Wedding Golden Hour Photography – How to Get It Right

Your wedding pictures are one of the most important things to think about when planning your big day. Although hiring a skilled and experienced wedding photographer is crucial, it is also essential that you know what you want for your pictures. Hiring the right photographer coupled with knowing the outcome you want will help set the stage for a successful wedding photoshoot.

No matter how many selfies they’ve taken, many couples have little experience with professional photography and don’t know exactly what type of photos they want. Fortunately, wedding photographers are here to help.

One classic that never goes wrong is Golden Hour photography. This style entails taking photos during the hour that comes immediately before the sun sets. The golden hue and softness of the sun’s rays these last moments of the day will produce radiant and striking images that can’t be beat.

Wedding Golden Hour Photography – How to Get It Right

Here’s what you should know about having wedding golden hour photography done right:

1 – Plan Ahead

It’s smart to check the weather forecast and make sure your location will be available before settling on a schedule for the shoot. Golden hour photography only gives you so much time, after all. You’ll get best results on a clear day when your location isn’t too populated. In case the weather forecasts are wrong (which they sometimes are), talk to your photographer about a backup plan, just in case.

The best golden hour photography are usually taken on a day with a bit of cloud on the day – so consider the weather on the day and guage whether or not it’d be worth heading to the spot you scouted earlier or use your back up ideas.

2 – Set Aside enough time for the Shoot—and Start Early!

One of the reasons golden hour photography is so tough to get right is that you’ll have a very narrow time frame to get the perfect pictures. The sun waits for no one!

No matter how busy you may be during the wedding planning process, it is important to set aside at least one to two hours for the wedding photo shoot—and that time should start well before golden hour. This ensures that your photographer can strategically plan poses, locations, and more to make the most of golden hour.

Planning ahead will ensure that you will have plenty of beautiful shots for your wedding album! Keep in mind that some of the most popular spots for wedding phtoography – like this list of wedding photo locations in Darwin can be busy – particularly for golden hour photography! So definitely plan a backup spot.

3 – Clear Your Mind and Carpe Diem

You will not be able to get good wedding photos if you let the stress of planning your wedding cloud your mind. On the day of your wedding shoot, make it a point to go into it with a clear and relaxed mind. This will help you get the best wedding photos and enjoy the process.

4 – Give Your Ideas to Your Photographer

Your photographer will often help direct you and your partner throughout the shoot, but you’ll have to do your part. After all, the photos will be yours to keep! If you have a particular style or pose you want to try, communicate all this to your photographer early on. They’ll then be able to plan based on your vision. A mood board can be helpful, too! Be sure to visit their portfolio well ahead of time and point out some photos you particularly enjoy so your photographer has a good idea of what you want to achieve.

This said, some ideas given to your photographer would be helpful, but try not to encroach too much on your photographer’s artistic freedom to to what they do best!

5 – Enjoy It and have fun!

Keep in mind that your feelings will come through to your photos. Remember that this is your wedding day! This occasion is supposed to be one of the happiest and most momentous moments of your life. Enjoy every moment of the planning and ceremony itself, your wedding photoshoot included.

Your wedding photos are meant to immortalize your wedding. Making sure that you hire the services of a good wedding photographer will help you cherish the moments of your wedding and all the effort that went into planning it even if years or decades have passed.
