Mollydooker Wines Wedding – Jiayi & Sam

  • Jiayi & Sam

    Mollydooker Wines Wedding

    Mollydooker wines wedding photo

Jiayi and Sam held their Mollydooker wines wedding on a rather windy and overcast day, but that certainly diddnt dampen the feeling and love between these two, and all involved! The day was full of fun – and often crazy times, and the weather even opened up for some spectacular shots later on in the day!

Mollydooker wines was a new wedding venue for me, so I was very much looking forward to covering Jiayi and Sam’s wedding there, and what a spot it is! Rolling hills, beautiful trees and a cozy little reception hall!

Before the ceremony

I began my wedding photography coverage at Mollydooker wines itself, capturing the arrival of Sam and his entourage where they quickly got ready by putting on their buttionare and having a few photos with each other before Jiayi and her bridal party arrived.

Sam was in two minds right up to the beginning of their wedding ceremony as to whether or not to hold the ceremony outside. As it turned out he decided to hold the ceremony inside due to the blustery winds and the rain clouds threatening to drench everyone outside.

Jiayi was prepared in a back office room at Mollydooker wines, out of the way of prying eyes of her groom to be – which we had to make sure he wouldnt ruin the surpise as he would often try to see her! I think we managed though 🙂

Mollydooker Wines Wedding

Jiayi and Sam’s Mollydooker wines wedding took place in the winery’s reception area, which was not to plan due to the weather. The change in venue caused a bit of a fuss with the Mollydooker wines staff having to clear out the area of regular lunchtime guests in time for the ceremony to take place! But they did an admirable job!

Jiayi and Sam’s ceremony was a short and simple affair with some small in jokes here and there, this coupled with the close proximity of all their guests made the whole ceremony a delight to be a part of!

Glamour Shoot

After the formailities were out of the way, including the mandatory family photos we went for a walk out and about the Mollydooker Wines grounds to make good use of the sun now peeking out of the clouds that earlier had earlier threatened the ceremony.

The vineyard was a favourite of mine with the large, broad grape leaves and unkeptness of the foliage making a perfect frame for some intimate portraits of Jiayi and Sam!

I also loved the rolling grassy hill to the rear of the reception area which coupled with the poor weather made for some very moody shots!

I had a blast taking photos despite the poor weather! Just goes to show that if you do have poor weather at your wedding there is always a silver lining – in this case some awesome atmosphere to create lovely photos!

Mollydooker Wines Wedding Reception

The Mollydooker Wines wedding reception area is a modern space but still sports a rustic feel due to it’s wooden features and surrounding windows that look out over the winery’s grounds.

The space was full for Jiayi and Sam’s sit down reception complete with heartfelt speeches and excited guests.

Wedding Albums – The Best Way to Commemorate Your Big Day

Why a Wedding Album is the Best Way to Commemorate Your Big Day

You’re planning to tie the knot with the most awesome person in the world, and you’ve found your perfect wedding photographer and are about to select your ideal package. A wedding album isn’t part of the bundle, and you’re debating whether your budget can shoulder one.

The short answer is: it should. The short reason is: your wedding photographs deserve a place to call home. Here are five other reasons why an album is the perfect choice of wedding memorabilia to commemorate your big day.

10x10 deluxe album

Seeing your wedding day come to an end is a bittersweet moment. You’re now married, which is great but also aching to relive your favourite moments – how many can you honesty remember?

Scrolling through photos on your phone, tablet, or desktop doesn’t do the essence of your Big Day any justice. While handy, there’s something a little disconnected about accessing memories through a USB drive or logging into an online gallery.

On the other hand, there is something unique about the high-quality feel, look, and scent of a freshly-printed wedding album. A book is unique only to you and your partner, and something you can fondly reminisce about page by page.

There is nothing quite like the heart of a leather, wood, or vinyl-bound album that captures some of your most significant life events.

Commemorate Your Big Day with an album

Reason 1 – You’ll Have Something to Share with Family and Friends

While you can look back on memories with friends and family through a digital slideshow, there is something homey about being able to lay an album flat on the table, crowding over your favourite moments.

Thick album
Thick album

Reason 2 – It Tells a Story

You can put the “fairy tale” in “fairy tale wedding” with a storybook of your best memories. From knotting your hair into an updo and slathering on layers of waterproof makeup to survive an inevitable waterfall of tears to walking down the aisle and dipping a cheeky finger into cake icing, you can relive your Big Day as if it were right in front of you.

While you can arrange and print a photo book yourself, your photographer should be more than equipped to position and layout your photographs with a thoughtful eye. Not to mention, there is nothing more magical than the surprise that comes with turning every page.

The quality of photobook developers available to professionals also blow the cheaper options out of the water.

Reason 3 – It’s Something to Treasure

Something about having to keep a wedding remembrance safe and secure is what makes it precious. It’ll travel with you throughout generations and can even make for a heartwarming display over your fireplace mantle or bedside table. You can pass the book onto your children, much like a visual memoir.

Inside book

Reason 4 – It Makes for a Unique Wedding Gift

If you have room in your budget to print miniature albums for friends and family, it’ll be an excellent way for them to relive their cherished moments with you and your partner.

Guests enjoying themselves

From saying yes to the dress to the ring on your finger, planning a wedding takes months—or years!—and in the blink of an eye, it’s over. With a wedding album, you can  commemorate your big day and revisit every minute as if it were only yesterday.

Document your joy with Sven Studios, the best Australian wedding photographer. Our photography packages are entirely customisable and make their way home to you in the form of high-quality art prints and coffee table albums.

Botanic Gardens’ Sunken Garden Wedding – Anna & Isuru

  • Anna & Isuru

    Botanic Gardens’ Sunken Garden Wedding

    Bride and groom embrace

It was a delightfully sunny day for Anna and Isuru’s wedding at the Adelaide Botanic Garden‘s Sunken garden wedding ceremony venue with a small group of close friends and family in person, and plenty watching a livestream! (When Isuru’s phone worked!)

The plan was to hold a small intimate ceremony here in Adelaide, and when COVID goes away hold another interstate with more guests.

Preparation

Anna was prepared in a room of the Mayfair hotel on King William St along with two of her friends. The atmosphere in the room was one of fun and excitement for the wedding ceremony and if Anna was feeling any nerves, she hid them well!

I made use of the Mayfair hotel lobby for a couple of shots on their spiral staircase while also heading out to the intersection for a few shots on the road, which the girls seemed to find amusing 😀

Sunken Garden Wedding Ceremony

The botanic Garden’s Sunken Garden Wedding venue provides for a lovely private spot to hold a ceremony in what is usually a rather busy place on a such a lovely day! The set up was lovely for me as a wedding phtoographer as the sun was right behind whre Anna and Isuru were standing which made for some lovely ethereal photos.

The heat of the day was quite powerful, as Iruru’s phone soon found out as unfortunately they had a bit of trouble keeping the livestream going – thankfully I was also recording the ceremony using 360 Virtual Reality technology as I always do so they made good use of that the next day!

Anna and Isuru’s wedding ceremony was full of personal insight into the couple’s relationship complete with in jokes and fun little things that had the entire congregation smiling and laughing along as they watched.

Adelaide Botanic Gardens Glamour Photos

We had a short amount of time for some photos in amongst the Adelaide Boatnic Gardens after having family photos done at the Sunken Garden so we hopped right to it making a beeline to the friendship gates then walking slowly back towards the National Wine Center.

I wanted to use the lovely trees that you can find in the nearby Botanic Park for some photos before walking back through the gardens. We were lucky enough to be walking back through the gardens a little later than allowed due to having the reception at the National Wine Center as we got to capture the dying sun through some of the trees on display around the grounds.

National Wine Center Reception

Anna and Isuru’s National Wine Center reception took place in their ‘Gallery’ room which boasts a huge glass wall overlooking the rest of the wine center’s grounds.

As their guest list was on the smaller side, only one long table was set up to make the entire setting feel quite opulent and grand! It also allowed all their guests to sit together and not have to travel a million miles to see everyone!

IvyBrook Farm Wedding – Carly & Josh

  • Carly & Josh

    Ivybrook Farm Wedding

Bride and groom in the Ivybrook Farm vineyards

I was delighted to have been asked to be Carly and Josh’s wedding photographer at their Ivybrook Farm wedding at the beginning of November!

Their day was one full of fun and family, and was certainly a relaxing day out with a lunch time reception and ample time to mingle with guests. The time mingling with their guests was foremost in Carly and Josh’s mind when planning their day with only a small portion dedicated to having glamour photos done, which I feel is a really nice way to look at your day.

Still, I was keen to make fulluse of the incredible scenery Ivybrook Farm has to offer!

Ivybrook Farm Wedding Ceremony

My coverage began with Carly and Josh’s Ivybrook Farm wedding ceremony under the large tree nearby the main building of the venue. Their guests were set up facing the tree on the grass, as Carly and Josh both approached the wedding arbour together from the on site bed and breakfast.

The highlight of their ceremony in my opinion was the delightful readings from a family member which detailed the love story of Carly and Josh coming together intermingled with inside jokes and fun stories that had everyone giggling.

Ivybrook Farm Wedding Reception

Carly and Josh opted to hold a lunchtime reception so as to maximise the time they could spend with the firends and family. The settig at Ivybrook Farm was set up in a delightfully rustic way, complete with Australian fauna and a stunning semi-nude wedding cake set atop a barrel which just made the whole setting pop.

Guests were treated to lawn games, food platters and games for the kids while everyone enjoyed the warm weather before settling down for a pizza lunch.

Lunch was eaten, and speeches were told before we had some time to head out around the grounds to shoot some glamour photos of Carly and Josh. After which we returned for the first dance!

The great thing about hosting an Ivybrook farm wedding is the variety of spots you can head to have your photos done. The area boasts fields of long unkempt grass, or well kept grass depending on what you feel would work best. There are also lines of trees, vineyards and rustic buildings which I certainly made the most of!

Halloween Themed Wedding at St Francis – Leticha & Carrie

Halloween Themed Wedding at St Francis – Leticha & Carrie

Leticha and Carrie held their Halloween themed wedding at the delightful St Francis winery on October 31st last year, and what a delightful day it was! Surrounded by supportive friends and family, they also included guests that could not attend due to COVID by using my livestream service which made it all the more inclusive.

Leticha and Carrie’s Halloween themed wedding included pumpkins lining their aisle, suitibly coloured bouquets and bridal party, and even my greenscreen photo booth complete with a Halloween themed backdrop!

Preparation

I began the day with Carrie and her family being prepared at her parent’s place nearby. Her bouquet was orange in colour, to suit the Halloween theme, and everyone there was wearing a matching orange item. Her entourage were wearing orange vests, while Dad was wearing an orange tie. It was a really nifty detail to add!

Leticha’s colour scheme was green, complete with an impressive green stoned engagement ring. Her entourage and bouquet was also green – contrasting the orange of Carrie, and also following the halloween theme.

One small detail I really enjoyed though was that Leticha and Carrie also made sure their own personalities and interests was really put on display throughout the day. They obviously love boardgames and other ‘nerdy’ things by having their invites UNO themed, Harry Potter items were strewn about the place, and later on their wedding cake was based on Cluedo!

Halloween Themed Wedding Ceremony at St Francis Winery

Leticha and Carrie’s Halloween Themed Wedding Ceremony took place on the grassy area in front of the St Francis winery pond. Their aisle betwenen guests were decorated with pumpkins and ivy, perfectly complementing the Orange and Green theme that the bridal couple had chosen.

As this was a same sex wedding, both leticha and Carrie were walked down the aisle together at the same time, flanked by their fathers which was a really nice touch.

Glamour Photos

After the group photos, we made use of the St Francis Winery gardens and lovely weeping willows to take a few glamour shots, before heading off to a bike track with some rather spooky, dark trees which I thought would suit the Halloween theme nicely.

Along that same vein of thought, I also took Letchia and Carrie outside once it got dark with some smoke in a can to try and create a moody shoot under the lit weeping willows.

It was a little bit of fun thinking about how to create some moody, creepy wedding photos while still making them ‘weddingy’.

Halloween Themed Wedding Reception

The St Francis winery wedding reception area naturally has a neat, dark vibe to it due to it being an older building and built as a storage area for wine it’s aesthetic is rustically bare bones – making it quite a nice choice for a halloween themed wedding.

Their guests enjoyed making use of the green screen backdrop with a Halloween image superimposed behind them in each shot, while the dancefloor also got quite a workout by Letchia and Carrie’s guests. I was also in character whole wearing my Jason hockey mask that I have as a photobooth prop while taking photos 😀

The personal touches that they had spent time in preparing really made the whole night come alive!
